Spend threshold for B/K/C

i pprobably have a higher prespend than some of you here bc I just buy what I like when I see it. I don’t keep track of spend vis a vis bag offers. It helps that I also prefer less popular stuff. This year, I purchased RTW, an H08, tableware, glasses, home goods and bags . I’m looking at some fine jewelry (but tend to prefer Verdura Belperron) and some lifestyle stuff but my SA is aware the latter purchases will be timed to coincide with the end of our gut renovation of a second apt (that hasn’t started yet)

I prefer not to have a formal wishlist, but my SA knows my collection and my taste. It works out. my favorite 2021 boutique bag purchase wasn’t even my latest B30 (which has always been my preferred B size) but a less popular bag : the mini Della cavalleria craie, epsom. Phw.

My SA knows to call me when he sees something he knows I will like; I think that is more fun and less stressful than calculating prespend. sometimes we text on unrelated topics that are of mutual interest, but that’s the nature of my relationship with him. it’s different for everyone

Which state are you located if I may ask? I’m dreaming of mini K too. If I get offered another B or K, I might pass and keep waiting for mini K. Not sure if that’s a good move but I really want that mini K in any color, hw. :smile:
Northern CA. If you really want mini kelly, don't accept other bag offer. But i will definitely be tempted to say yes to another b or k offer if the color is right.

All this 1:2, 1:3 stuff is all very well but remember...the most expensive bags right now are not (mostly) the hardest to get. A Kelly 35 Sellier in Box is not going to be remotely as hard to get as a mini Kelly in Epsom even though it's more than twice as expensive. So it's more an equation of your spend vs the PERCEIVED value of the bag. Mini Lindys are taken into private rooms now!

Just curious since I’ve been out of the loop for awhile. When did all these ratios start? I don’t remember this kind of spend calculation in the late 1990’s and 2000’s. It wasn’t that difficult to buy bags back then.

I have a question;
I am building my profile and go to hermes every week or so. I got offered a b30 and said yes! My next step is to get a exotic B or K.. Since I got offered my birkin and said yes does that also go in your ‘spending’ history for a next bag or no?

It does not, but overall, we have found that exotic offers are more easy than leather because of the higher price point.

I have no idea and unable to say.
But for me, there was no information back then. No sharing of experiences on any platforms. I don’t know what to do, how to behave, what to expect.

I have no courage to enter the boutique!

Since now I know various avenues, I can make choices, I can prepare myself for a 20k drop to get a bag by building up a relationship at the shop, I know going to Paris to get is a lottery…I may spend 5 to 10k to go and come back with nothing. To get a bag without going through a long painful process, drop 20k direct for the bag itself at a reseller or consignment store.

I spent around 7.5k before I got the bag I asked. I originally wanted pink (any shade really, preferably Rose Sakura (one of the hardest) but would take something else. She told me to come back the next day to see if I wanted anything else (hinting that I should get something before leaving with the B so no one would give her a hard time letting me have it. I got a scarf, then she went in the back and got the B30, Rose Shocking PH. I wanted GH But definitely said yes to it. Total I would say after the scarf.. 8.5k … my B was 11.500 US dollars.

Major congrats! Just in time for holidays too. May I ask which store? :)

You mentioned that your Birkin 30 was $11,500 USD. Was this purchased in a US store (if so, is this before or after tax)... and what type of leather?

Curious to know if there was a price adjustment...
