These are both very important for newer clients to remember. I have been approved for and purchased a number of SOs over the years, and one issue that has come up is that I need to be careful about posting photos of them: my SA has become a very dear friend (we have a social friendship, not just VCA) and I am aware that any time a well-viewed photo is posted (whether on Instagram or here), the boutiques are inundated with requests (like the hot pink Sevres pieces we’ve seen SO-ed).

I certainly don’t want to make things more challenging for anyone at VCA, and I love my SA; we have a fantastic time coming up with SOs, which we both enjoy and will hopefully continue to do. So I don’t announce SO arrivals anymore, and if I happen to be wearing something in a photo, that’s fine, but I’m not going to promote it.


With that said, I have a set that consists of 2 SOs and 1 MTO. The MTO is Onyx/RG which I believe has been mentioned here recently. This set was actually inspired by a visual mistake I made - years ago I walked into a boutique in Vegas, and I was instantly smitten with a 20-motif worn by an SA. It looked like RG/Onyx, but when I mentioned it to my SA, she said it was actually Letterwood, which can darken with time. I think it also looked darker due to the store’s lighting as well. Anyway, I had that visual in my head for years before I decided to order it, and I wear it all the time. To me the RG softens the onyx in a way that YG and WG just don’t, and I’m genuinely surprised that RG/Onyx and RG/MOP arent offered regularly..

What's the difference between SO and MTO?

Just curious: is there a bar even for MTO requests now? During Covid time, my impression was that everyone could place MTO orders with their SAs, if they maintained a good relationship with SAs (pls correct me if I was wrong). Do things change now? Reason of asking is that I was declined for MTO orders, and was encouraged to spend more before requesting MTO pieces..

Yes, now there is a prespend required for MTO in most locations.

Question from someone who is highly in doubt :confused1: I have been thinking about putting in a SO for a gray MOP bracelet in rose gold but with tax (US dollars)it will be close to 6k. Anyone here who has this bracelet, is it worth it? I have a guilloche bracelet, a MOP 5 motif and a hammered rose gold bracelet. I LOVE bracelets. Several earrings and a few rings. I just think the gray MOP and rose gold is a beautiful combination but in doubt about 6k. Thank you for your time and input

If I am not mistaken @missie1 has the grey MOP 5 motifs bracelet in RG. Hopefully, she can chime in or another TPF member. It is worth it if you absolutely love it!

@RitaLA GMOP is my absolute favorite stone so it’s definitely worth it to me. I absolutely love how the stone changes depending on what it’s paired with. The premium even though steep doesn’t bother me as I prefer RG so I have to pay more to get exactly what I want.
