I like the birkin much more than the cabat, but I guess depending on your social environment, birkin could be difficult to wear in some situations because it's oversaturated on social media. It's one of the most practical bags and more so than the cabat as it can be closed, so it's a shame, but I have found that the comment below on a recent post on the possible Chanel price increase could apply to birkin as well. It's the main reason why I'm not interested in birkin anymore, even if it's really is a beautiful and very practical bag. This is very personal though, and it's the only con I could think of with the birkin. :biggrin:I actually think the orange looks awesome!

Great points.

I also really like that you have the option to close the bag and the fact that it has feet (!) so in those respect it is definitely more practical.

The cost I am not going to lie is insane, but you hardly ever see anyone carrying a Birkin here so I think it would fly under the radar.
BV even more so. Luckily I think very few people in my town are aware of just how much a cabat actually costs.

Thanks @880!

@fonnas , I vaguely recall a post from you about this but can’t find it. Any recs on the strap to get? Does it hurt the sangle?
You might be referring to this picture. I'm using my Evelyn II Etain adjustable strap on the Etain KD25 Evercolor.
I don't use the metal loops like others do on the sangles. that's not wise. Instead, I use these leather adapters that are better. You can pick some up on Etsy from ''HandCobbler''.

Why would it hurt the sangles? you shouldn't put more than essentials in the bag to being with. Phone, AirPods, keys and wallet. Been using it as so with no damage. Life is too short, enjoy your bag that's why H has SPA.

@880 you'd make a great agent  ROTFL always representing me and my hacks. Love you.

Hi gents, a really specific question: do we know if there are size T4 for the Clic HH bracelets? I see T5 and T6 online only (in various colorways). My SA said there's a T4, and we can put a watch on it....
Yes I have seen T4 online and in store, but very rarely. All my bracelets are T5, and I was told T4 comes in only select colorways.

@fonnas and others, seeking your advice again! My Kelly depeches got here, and I’m super excited about it. I SHOULD have zero doubt about authenticity since it came from H directly, but doesn’t the stitching look a bit rough without the usual clean lines? Is it just a combination of (a) the angles of the lines in the bag, (b) the contrast stitching, and (c) my own fussiness? Does yours have similar issues? It’d be absurd to suspect that someone might’ve returned a fake and H didn’t catch it, right? Thanks as always.

From what i read that is normal for slight cracking in the sewn parts by the edges but the second pic where it bends there is a huge crack in the glazing. I personally would not mind because it prob will crack in the future due to wear and tear. Hopefully you will accept it or return it.

Your post demonstrates that you have some unease about this bag, but you do not state explicitly whether it is with regard to the quality of the workmanship or that you are not sure if it is genuine.

I deduce that you did not buy it from a bricks and mortar Hermes store (. . .finally got here. . . since it came from H directly . . ) but from H.com.
If that is so, was that because you do not have a local store, or a matter of availability?
If you have a local store you could take it in and ask an Hermes employee directly.

What caught my eye most was that the triangle of stitching, above the metalwork in your first picture, is unevenly stitched and not equilateral. Then I thought that was a matter of camera angle and that it was probably fine.
Close up photos of stitching amplify the natural irregularities of hand work.
You prompted me to examine the saddle stitching on some of my bags and I have to admit that it is overall tighter and more balanced, however there is some necessary adjustment on corners and curves. Yours is a relatively small bag and these corners and curves come closer together.

I hope that you turn out to love your bag. As others have pointed out, you can always return it yourself; I guess it's a matter of "how much do you really like it" or "do you have the opportunity to find a replacement". Assuming it's genuine H (it's very hard to believe that Hermes would accept a fake return, as it probably goes through the same screening as Spa intakes), maybe the artisan that made your bag was newer, or was feeling under the weather that day?

The most important thing is that you are happy with your purchase.
@Buildingprofile

This might sound harsh, but given the pictures and your questions and concerns, I would worry that you aren't going to be happy with most hand stitch / saddle stitching. They are never entirely even and especially in certain areas as mentioned above. Even machine stiched items will be more irregular on corners and folds etc and often finished by uand in those areas.

I attached some extreme close-up pictures, one is from H and two are from an atelier by a former H craftsman with much more experience than the average H worker. I would consider any of these normal and I would consider what i see in your pictures normal too.20230209_155809.jpg

My etoupe 30B , phw, bought at Madison in 2021 is the same. If you want perfect hand stitching, OG TPFers used to rave about vintage Kelly bags from the 1990s. I also recommend other smaller independent artisans, who employ former H craftspeople and even one whose master craftsperson, earlier in her career, trained H craftsmen newbies.

I can attest to vintage kelly bags having almost perfect hand stitching. My 1988 box Kelly’s stitching is more aligned and perfect-looking compared to relatively recent purchases. Personally, imperfect stitching is as beautiful to me as perfect stitching as I don’t look at it as flaws. I look at it rather as a testament to the brand honoring the art of its craftsmanship. Although if it bothers you, I’d take it in the store and go from there. I’m sure they’ll assist you with finding the item that speaks to you.

Nothing wrong with what has been shown in the pics
Pls stop using magnifying or zoom lens to analyse stitch by stitch
and start enjoying the bag.

the "cracks" are part of the texture of the leather if the ones at the edges you are referring to?
