Nothing to be embarrassed about. When I studied music, the teachers would have us identify what we listened to by dropping the needle onto a record. This was done with classical music. Our grades depended on telling the teacher exactly what we were hearing (composer, what piece of music, etc) so it really taught us to ‘hear’ the differences.
So cool your mom was a concert pianist!!
