I think what's going on here is less of a fashion/style problem and more of an exclusivity issue. Contemporary brands like MK are more accessible because they are more affordable compared to "premier" brands. So if you're a judgmental person that looks down on others based on what they can and cannot afford, then you certainly wouldn't want to be carrying the same bags that the people you judge are carrying.
I get it. I don't agree with it and I'm disgusted by people with that mentality, but it's out there and it's certainly on this forum. But I don't share that mindset so it isn't my problem and it's not yours either!
I agree about the exclusivity issue. The place I used to live in didn't have any good malls... :P

I don't know why people thought I was judging them, I'm judging the BAGS. I don't have to like everybody's bags to please you guys. The form doesn't work like that. It's just not my personal taste and I'm free to point it out. In fact I didn't like my best friend shirt the other day, did I broke up the friendship? No, it's just a shirt, she can get over it. So it's just a bag, get over it.

"Tacky, ghetto and cheap" are what 90% of the professional stylists would say also. People like Anna Wintour might be like that and so are other rich people. Even if a siggy bag is 100000 bajillion dollars it wouldn't change their opinion.

My reason of why I WOULDNT get those bags is because I never liked them, I'm not a letter-pattern person, not because I'm rich and snobby. (Lol wish I was rich actually)

I was just suggesting an answer to your initial post on why people would think like that. Sorry if you got offended :l

If you read all the responses to my original question you will see that others expressed that signature bags weren't their taste and no one got mad at them. You not liking them is not the issue, using harsh words such as ghetto and trash is. It was already established that there are people out there that view signature bags as tacky, some don't like them because they think it's flashy, my original question was why there were certain people that were fine with other signature bags, for example LV, but were saying that the MK signature was tacky and why MK in particular gets so much hate on the other forums. You are free to express your opinions, but don't be surprised if people take offense to certain words being used. No one wants to fight on here and I'm sure you don't want to either, but everyone wants to be respected. Maybe you didn't mean to be disrespectful but that is how it came off.

I initially didn't like the signature bag because I didn't think a PVC bag was worth the same money as a leather bag, but its grown on me. I plan to eventually get one.

Heck I may even torque the LV lovers by buying a true ripoff, the Rioni bag! Lol

I think that line is gorgeous and I don't care if its a ripoff.

I also own a MFF Coach! For shame! Lol. Ironically, it's my least favorite bag, but I've gotten tons of compliments on it! :)

I think it's ironic that this thread was started about people sharing their negative opinions in this forum with a post meant to instigate negative opinions from others, then gang up on someone who tries to explain why others have that opinion.

If people think a purse reflects one's personality, they may make other assumptions about them based on the purse that person's carrying. I wear what I like and if people want to assume negative things about me because of it, I'm not going to waste my time with it. I'd rather be around people who contribute to my happiness whether they like the same bags I do or simply don't care.

I'm not ganging up on her, explaining that no one on here is offended that she doesn't like signature bags, people may have took offense for using the words trashy and ghetto and saying "it's not an opinion its a fact" they are because the community she used to live in that is who bought them.

I sincerely apologize to LadyBazaar and anyone else who feels they are being ganged up on by anyone. I'm personally no longer commenting on the thread, but everyone else comment away!

Ganging up takes more than one. There are more posters who expressed discontent with that opinion.

I understand, but I don't think it was any of our intention to gang up on her. I am sorry if it came off that way. I just rather not comment anymore because it took a bad turn, maybe it was a bad thread for me to start in the first place! Sometimes when you can't hear the person talking and just see the written word, a person takes a different meaning than the person meant for it to be and I think that's the case here.

I don't think anyone ganged up on the poster. Honestly, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm actually one of the posters who normally doesn't like mono bags. However, people should never be referred to as ghetto or trashy. And, it seems even more ironic that the poster actually lived in the same community as the people that she "labeled" with such negative and stereotypical terms......

Thank you, that is what I was trying to say but I didn't articulate it as well as you did! I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to comment on the thread anymore, lol.

Whether or not intentioned, it seemed to have occurred. Disparaging someone for where they live isn't really better than disparaging someone for what they wear. The irony you pointed out indicates that where someone lives defines part of them to in your perspective. Whether implied first by the poster; it's implied in your statement as well.

I judge. I try not to. I'm working on it and realize people will judge me too. I'll keep going about doing what makes me happy and if how they treat me based on their judgements bothers me that much, I won't engage. I can't change someone else's mind, but can change how I interact with them. </soapbox>

Interesting question. This question has also come up from time to time over on the coach forum as well.

Personally, I'm not in to signature bags regardless of the brand. I seem to prefer leather or Saffiano. But for some reason I am drawn to the MK mono print in both the brown and vanilla. I find the mono is not in your face and I like the vanilla and the brown colors.

Heck, I just scored a vanilla mono jet set tote today for 40% off at Belk today and I'm just as excited about that as I am about the luggage and summer blue Hamiltons I recently got.

I think the bottom line is to buy what you love and what you can afford. You're the one who has to carry the bag. (That is a general statement, not directed at any one person)
