^Unfortunately I don't think you can buy just the pads--at least this is my understanding--I really wish they sold them but last time I went to stock up on a few new curlers I asked the SA if I could just buy replacement pads and she said they were not sold separately

Shiseido sells replacement pads and they fit in Shu curlers. :D

Here is the news story:
Shu Uemura’s U.S. Stores to Close

(March 2010) posted on Wed Mar 31, 2010 2:42pm EDT L’Oreal focusing on online sales, growth of other high-end brands
L’Oreal (Paris) plans to close the doors on Shu Uemura stores and beauty counters in the U.S. The move is part of the company’s plan to shift sales of the cosmetics products to the Internet so that the company can concentrate on its other high-end brands in the country, such as Lancome, Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent.
L’Oréal has a controlling stake in the cosmetics company.
“This is about our desire to focus on growing the larger brands, not because the brand isn’t vibrant and beautiful,” says Carol Hamilton, president of L’Oreal USA’s Luxury Division. “We love the brand, but it is a very small part of our portfolio.”
Shu Uemura products are sold in around 100 stores in the U.S., such as Saks, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus department stores. The brand is available in 18 countries, with close to 80 percent of its business concentrated in Asia. L’Oréal says the news does not affect other markets.

There's a standalone Shu store on Newbury St. in Boston.

^ There's a standalone store in Costa Mesa, CA too, in the South Coast Plaza Mall.

I am really going to miss seeing and buying Shu cosmetics in person. My sister is stocking up on the original formulation Cleansing Oil. That is one of her holy grail skincare products.

3 curlers a year? They should last way longer. . . can't you buy new pads instead?

I heard from an SA that you arn't supposed to use the curlers for too long because the hinge mechanism wears down a bit....? I'm guessing 1 year is a good life span

Well, Swanky,(and others) I know that prob most of you can use them for longer, but I happen to have Stick straight eyelashesthat basically shoot downward, you can picture an elephant's eyelashes, that's what mine are like.....genetically, I was lucky when it came to having good skin, but eyelashes- nope- i've even permed them in the past. If I was stranded on a desert island, my one product would be my eyelash curler each Shu curler comes with one extra pad, but talexes is correct, after awhile, they just dont curl the same:sad:
this whole dc thing is very, very bad news for me.....
