I understand the convenience, but isn't an open back pocket an invitation to pick-pocketers - especially in a city? I have a zipped insert for my Evelyne PM.
I feel safe with an open back pocket as its against my body, either on a X-body or or on a shoulder bag I tend to wear the strap short enough that its under my arm.
I would never wear something like a Kelly dangling open though.

Here’s my contribution to the discontinued bag thread.

Birkin 35 Vibrato. Top part is box leather in Rouge H. The bottom part is stacks of different colored leather strips glued together.

This is insanely beautiful!
The colours are exquisite.
I wonder if they had craftsman trained just to create the Vibrato leather? I'd love to actually see images of it being produced.
I find it fascinating.
Also did they do many colour variations in the vibrato (ie; more blue toned for instance or monochrome?)
Maybe you should start a thread about Vibrato?!
thank you for sharing this eye candy

Vibrato was done in several color combos and a wave pattern that I always thought was absolutely gorgeous. There are a few photos here. You can find it at resale - not common but not unobtainium.

There are a variety of items that were made with vibrato, in different color ways that run from very subtle in the same color family to really vibrant almost clashing colors together. I’ve seen some on the resale market that are decently priced so may look into adding more in to my collection.

Here’s a little collection of Vibrato items I’ve pinned from Pinterest.

I agree; the wave pattern (it's called something like Canal) is superb.
I don't know how vibrato was priced in relation to straight leathers.
Is it naive to think that it was not faked - too dificult; too time consuming; easier to make money selling something simpler.
It seems to work well with all styles of bag and there are some stunning examples of Kellys and Birkins but they are costly.
Anyone looking for a piece in vibrato might consider the Herbag and there are some weird coin purses.
