That's disappointing.. I have been eyeing the Larch bag recently and was planning to get that for my next handbag purchase. :( I love her bags' styles and the pretty fabric lining she uses.

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread...

I've purchased in a total about 4 Valhallabrooklyn bags in total... gave one to my niece as a gift.. who isn't the most careful with her bags.. and it's still going on strong after 2 years. 3 of which are still in my possession, I use as my everyday bags. 1 of which I recently had custom made with a custom wallet to my specs. I'm very pleased with her work. All the leathers vary.. I have one very distressed and smooth.. but also super thick. For my black bags, I requested thick pebbley leather... which is what I received. I haven't taken pics of my bags in awhile.. so bear with the blurry images.. lol. I'm basically an ex Bal gal on a tightened budget... so these will do.. not to mention there's no need to baby them either. All in all the seller is a doll to work with.. and I've managed to change my mind last minute with tweaks here and there.. and she's accommodated all my requests w/o any issues.

My current - black pebbled custom willow bag from Valhallabrooklyn (had it made a little more east/west than what it normally is)

Interior & wallet I asked for .. but tweaked with double sided pockets for change & another for receipts etc... plus it fits my iphone.. so it doubles as a nice clutch too.

Another seller I recommend.. is iyiamihandbags. Seller (Mimi) is also a doll to work with. Craftsmanship is superb... I haven't found a stitching out of place! This seller is based in Greece.. so shipping can really vary from 1-3 weeks.. 3 weeks.. during the holiday delays. I've purchased 4 bags total... and love every one of them.

Only complaint-- shipping can take time... and for some reason the light beige leather above-- soft and puddley has a really strong leather odor still. :p

^Love those bags!

So glad I found this thread! I purchased a custom bag from Valhalla Brooklyn, and like it but don't love it.

I have purchased several market totes, multiple pouches, and a Sami bucket bag from Rennes Le Chateau, and love, love, all of them. They are simple construction, beautiful leathers, and the sweetest seller ever. I can't say enough good things about my experiences with her.

For non-leather bags, my favorite Etsy seller is Moop. I have four of their Letter Bags, a Letter Clutch, and a few other items. They are my favorite weekend and travel bags. Immaculate construction, heavy duty fabrics, water-resistant lining. Also a wonderful seller. They are definitely more casual, so great for weekend or if you have a casual lifestyle.

I've also purchased several printed fabric bags from various sellers with mixed results. The above two sellers are hands down my Etsy faves for bags and pouches.

I will try to take some pics when I get a chance.

Very nice.. I love them!!

I think I remember reading your post about this.

You know, every time I use one of these bags, I sigh at how naff the leather feels. I've asked a tonne of people to feel the bags and say what they think the composition is, and nearly everyone says "faux leather". They just don't feel like leather at all.

Don't get me wrong, with a shop called The Leather Store, I'm absolutely sure that she's NOT using pleather and calling it leather. However, the leather I got must be a really, really poor grade or something, as that's exactly what it feels like. Aside from this one (admittedly major...) issue, I have no fault with the seller. She was friendly and efficient. Oh, and I like the nice bright floral lining.

The lesson I learned from this transaction is never to buy two bags at once from an unknown seller. A bit of a no-brainer now that I think about it, but hey-ho, we live and learn...

I completely agree about The Leather Store. I have one bag from her, and she's a really good seller, and very nice and willing to do anything to help as well. She's based out of Bristol, UK, and the shipping surprisingly was only about a week and a few days.

I can attest to the fact that the leather is less than desirable. I thought it would going to be smushy and give and get softer with age, but it's just as stiff as it always was. For this reason, it's hard to carry the bag. Because for one, it's huge, which I like, but it doesn't give any so the stiffness of the leather combined with it being a little too structured, makes it hard to wear.

I got mine on sale as well and it was still over 100, and I don't think I'd pay that again. I've gotten some really smushy, buttery leather bags in the 100-200 range before.

So yeah, accessories might be different, but if you're looking for a really nice, good feeling leather, you might not find it there.

I just ordered a bag from Iyiamihandbags, and cannot wait to receive it. It literally only took her two days to make my custom order, and now I just have to wait for shipping.

Also ordered a bag from jennyndesign, and am looking forward to receiving it as well. I love the look of her bags.

Fingers crossed!

Rennes and Moop still my faves though. :)

Carrying a Moop Letter Bag right now. So great.

Did you get and like your bag?

reviving an old thread... i've been searching for a boho/smooshy leather bag and just ordered this in vintage brown...

etsy.com/listing/96080619/baha-leather-tote-shoulder-bag-available?ref=usr_faveitems

has anyone gotten a bag from baliELF? just wondering if you love it or not. i've ordered a few bags from different etsy shops - not all have been great, unfortunately. the last one i got was totally customized, but she "decided" to use a different thread color and it really disappointed me. i tried to make it work, but it now sits at the top of my closet.

any input would be appreciated!

I'm surprised there are no Opelle bags on here! I'm quite obsessed with her bags although I only have 2 so far. The leathers are such great quality, I walk into department stores and check out designer bags in the same price range or more, and walk away feeling unimpressed because their leathers are often not as nice. I've been a rather naggy customer as I always messaged her questions before I buy, and asked for some customizations done on a bag. Amy, the shop owner and bag designer, has alway been kind and replies to my messages within a day. I've also had repairs done on a zipper that broke because it was a little stuck and I forced it, Amy was kind enough to fix and ship back for free.
Here is my first bag, the Lotus in Smoke (the lotus is also her first design, I really love how different it is from most of the bags designs I've seen in the mass market!)

My second is the currently out of stock Foldover Clutch in Black Lambskin, she still has it in other leather though
(From what I hear Amy is quite picky about the quality of her leathers, so when her current supplier seemed to change up the leather, she had to stop making it a while util she finds someone else she's happy with)
I asked her to make me an extra strap with the leather portion studded. It looks wonderful! I absolutely adore it!

With many of her bags (lotus included) the satin lining isn't sewn onto the bottom of the bag, making it easier to clean, because you can flip it out like this!
