Hyacinth and others - would like your opinion on the longevity and quality of current bags compared to older Made in USA or closer to USA bags. I am rediscovering Coach and like several of the new designs but think they need extra TLC compared to the chewy glove tanned leathers of past decades.

This rediscovery all started when I consigned my early 2000s Janice bag and then missed it!

Would have bee much cheaper just to keep it instead of indulging this new
Hobby!

The older bags - pre-2000 anyway - were a lot tougher. It seems like a lot of the new leather colors and finishes are having problems, but the old leather was pretty well bullet-proof. Coach's emphasis recently has been on fashion, not durability.

If my Kristins last as long as my Sheridans, I'll be a happy camper.

Well, be careful not to venture into a dangerous, unknown neighborhood in seach of a vintage bargain! Like I said, I know nothing about Toronto - never been there!

Haha been there and done that already! Got a pair of brand new Banana Republic pants but I doubt I will go back...Not unless I have an armed body guard  I was just too freaked out the whole time to do a thorough shop. I think this place is better. It's going towards another one of the ritzy areas of the city. It's a bit further out away from downtown which is why it's taken me so long to actually go, but if I leave from work the commute is shorter. If I go from my house, chances are I will never make it since I live on the other end just west of the middle of the city.

I nabbed a Legacy Black Leather Bridgit on eBay last weekend for $137.50 including shipping. She's supposed to be here today. Here's hoping she's as "mint condition" as was advertised. :smile1: The pics on the auction looked good, so I am hopeful.

Well, I haven't found a red Italian Gramercy bag yet but we know that some of the Italian Madison bags came in red because Madisonave5011 has a gorgeous red Gracie!

yeah the Madisons did come in red and green and navy I think. That's what I was thinking of. So, as for the Gramercy....I guess not. That explains why you can find so many more blacks... a lot of gals are afraid of lighter colored bags so that didn't leave a lot of choices besides the black.

Congrats!! I'd been watching the Bridgits. It's still one of my "HG" wish list bags. Timing hasn't been right to buy it yet though.

Checked out the new local Savers again this morning now that the Grand Opening crowds have gone - even being there when the doors open may not be good enough! I wandered round for a bit before checking out the "special" section and while I was trying to figure out if the few Coaches I could see were worth taking a look at, a women bought all 5 or 6 of them.

Some days it just don't pay to get up early!

uggg. That stinks. I have pretty much decided I am in competition for bags with some other vintage loving Coachie. Over the past 6 months it's dropped way down from a year or so ago. So, I just have to stop in really frequently hoping to snag bags as they are freshly put out. Sometimes, that's at night!!

No, I guess the brass band got stuck at the airport and I had to shop anonymously.

Nothing that she was buying looked especially interesting anyway.

Yes, it is very "hit or miss" at my Savers too. Sometimes there's loads of interesting stuff and sometimes there is nothing. Or the prices are too crazy. Occassionally I find good deals on other brands that are less well known than Coach (or Foach!)

Holy handbags, that's pretty!

Thanks! It's very cute, I haven't carried it yet but it looks like it will hold a lot!

I love this color! So jealous!

Like I said, that bag was listed two or three times because I was unsure if I'd ever carry this color. I finally decided I wanted it and it was torture to wait till the auction ended. Turns out that pretty much anything with a floral print will have a bit of this color in it, plus of course it will go with lots of other solids, so it's OK after all.

I LOVE this bag!

Thanks! I just need to take her out for a spin now!

This is so pretty!! I didn't remember you having this one...so nice!!

I posted a glimpse of her in the rehab thread when she was drip drying in the sink, and never came back and posted "afters" It took a long time to dry, probably because the outside is pretty much plastic coated, and it was had to be propped open to get the inner leather and suede dry. I also rinsed the heck out of her because I used a lot of soap to get the stains on the inside off. So she was SOAKED! By the time she was actually really dry I never got around to posting pix.

I found a Classic Duffle in British Tan the other day at Savers. It looked like it had only been used a few times. They were asking $30 which considering the condition was a steal. Then when I got to the checkout I was given the senior discount of 20%, so it only cost me $24! I've never gotten a senior discount before...

Sorry no picture, I don't think I can do it from my ipad.

At last the mailman showed up at 5:01pm. This after me working from home all day so I'd be here to sign for the package. *grumble*

Anyway, she's lovely and as described. Leather is in great condition and I just Apple'd her up before I move in. No pen marks or other stains on interior lining. No nasty smells, etc. In other words, I got a good deal! :D $137.50 shipped.

Here she is: Legacy Bridgit Style No. 11622 in Black Leather
