Warning: Don't try this at home kids!
Today's "find" starts Saturday morning-I had UMPTEEN things to do, but I had a tough work week and decided to watch a movie and kick back before I started them. Silly me, even though I keep swearing I'm going to stop doing this, I do a kind of random coach search on eBay while I watch the movie.
So I find this "blue suede" coach purse listed for $5:

with the auction ending that afternoon, and proceeded to do a search to figure out what bag it was. I guess I have a thing for suede, I need to post a couple other suede projects in the rehab thread. The description of the bag says nothing much except it's unique, has braiding on the side, and is missing the hangtag.
So I do a few searches, both here and on eBay, and end up finding THIS bag listed as grey suede, NWT and with it's "slipcase"

BIN for $70. It took me a little while to search here and find this one, I knew I had seen it but I couldn't remember when or how. I could tell from the details it was a Madison bag, and even though I knew the handle was twisted, I still searched for "braided" and came up dry. Finally searched for twisted and there it was. duh.
I found out here it was a Madison small Marielle, did some searches for that on eBay and found several that had sold for $180-$200. At that point I was ready to take the plunge and fork over the $70 and bought it. That was saturday afternoon and it arrived today so, YAY for quick shipping sellers! And it was new with an unattached tag, care card, and dust bag. Very cute bag, I have a thing for drawstrings.
My picture isn't any better than the sellers but here it is anyway...I should have taken it outside, pix in my bedroom come out yellow.

My movie was almost by the time I did the BIN and I felt satisfied and was going to give up on the original, $5 blue suede bag, except that it was almost over and still, no one had bid on it, so I did a little more searching here and found a 2002 suede stitched tote in the authenticate thread so checked out the wayback machine, and found this:

New SUEDE LACED SMALL SLIM DUFFLE Make the right statement for Spring in lightweight suede. Cellphone, pen and multi-function pockets Inside zip pocket Ring to clip an accessory or keyfob Zip-top closure with dogleash zipper pull Lightweight suede with leather trim and fabric lining 48 adjustable strap 11 3/4 (L) x 10 (H) x 3 (W) Pool shown Price: $228 Style No: 9112
Since no one ever bid on that first suede bag I went ahead and bid the $5, even though the shipping was $15. I would be pleasantly surprised if this bag turned out to be this color, but on the plus side, the part of the bag that you can see, the bottom, doesn't look particularly worn or dirty so we'll see what I end up with since it hasn't arrived yet.
I think I'm going to break out the Marielle for work tomorrow.I don't know if I should spray it with suede spray though...might think on it for a day before I drag her out, she's got a big of iridescence so I will have to test a spot first.

Nice finds, you're the suede Queen! I have a suede bag to rehab so I may be asking for advice!
I am glad somebody else loves suede as much as I do...I REALLY LOVE THESE FINDS!! Luckily my suedes so far are in pretty good condition needing no real serious fixing. I do have one in the rehab pile that will probably be going into the washer so the advice on rehabbing these bags helps a TON!!
I love that Marielle. I think you should spray her. I think she is that sparkle suede that is pretty delicate. I have a Poppy sparkle suede drawstring that is pretty similar and I sprayed it with Scotchguard without any problems.Warning: Don't try this at home kids!

I am so excited. I found a listing on craigslist for beautiful embossed python (that I have wanted for forever) and almost clicked back because I thought it would be way too expensive. Well, I looked at the price and did a double take. It said $65. I did some checking around and looking to make sure I thought it was real and then called the lady hoping she hadn't sold it yet. I just met her and it is simply gorgeous! She said it was given to her so I think she had no idea what it was really worth. Anyway, she just gave me my HG bag!

I won the Poppy Onyx Patent Backpack Style No. 17949 (original MSRP $298) for $110.00 shipped on eBay last weekend. She arrived yesterday and though she had some minor ink stains on the inside that seller did not disclose, I managed to get those out for the most part with some rubbing alcohol.
Not a huge fan of the lining, but at least it's a color that will make it easy to find things inside the bag. Drawstring closure, front open pocket that is concealed with push lock clasp. Perfect kicking around bag for the weekends or when weather is wet.
