I've started to grow a particular hunger for Coach Poppy bags. Unsure of when this happened but it is a welcome departure from my pricier premier handbags. I was supposed to go pick up a sequin spotlight, brand new, for $60 but the seller was incredibly difficult to negotiate with. They seriously expected me to pay an extra $10 so we can meet up in a public location that was close to their home. Although I am rather disappointed, I was able to flirt my way from $39.99 to $24.99 for this purse at Value Village!

It seems to me as if the site would be a target for every scammer on 6 continents. One "loukpeach" was enough. And there were others besides her with different methods. Not for me..
If each brand had it's own selling thread and members helped keep the fakes out, it might not be so bad. There needs to be rules, like you have to be a member for a year AND actually post on here before you can sell.....that would help. I just think it would be nice for others to be able to do that on here and not just the special exclusive members of the secret marketplace. The regular members never get to see what's for sale and they lose potential customers too.

By "members helping to keep the fakes out" I wonder if that means that the authenticators, in addition to responding to regular posts, also have to authenticate everything on the selling site too? I'm even less in favor of that. Not just would it increase the demands on our time here in the Coach forum, but some other designer forums barely have enough coverage as it is, or may only have one authenticator. But that's the forum owners' decision.

The members here can view other members' listings on other selling sites without belonging to Little Orphan Annie's Secret Selling Society, they just need to check the "New Auction Listings" thread in the Shopping Resources forum.

The post in the Prada forum that Vlad responded to gave me a strange vibe too. A brand new poster asking about selling on the site? She hasn't even made any bag-related posts yet and seemed just a little too eager to start selling. If she was a member in 2010 we couldn't sell on this site back then either so she shouldn't be surprised. And her first post is almost asking someone to PM her about buying her bag.
"I actually got back on here to see if we can sell bags on the purse forum??? or if anyone can recommend the best place to sell bags? Especially my never used, still in the box they shipped it in Prada Antique Servo (the Ashely Tisdale one). Thanks so much!?"

Yes, maybe I'm untrusting and paranoid. Thirteen or fourteen years of dealing with questions about real and fake Coaches can do that to a person. "On the internet, there's no such thing as being TOO paranoid."

I didn't mean just the authenticators that are here now, there's more members on here that could probably be authenticators too. (not meaning me) But I understand where you're coming from and can understand why you'd be against it. I'm not really interested in selling on here, but would like to see merchandise offered by others........And there's very little merchandise posted in the auction listings thread. I know from another member that some items are not listed elsewhere, but sold via the marketplace only.

Yikes. I’ll dial back the interest a bit.
I completely see your position given the amount of complete cr@p out there. And sellers and selling platforms related to items you are asked to give your opinion regarding, who are completely unwilling to take responsibility when a fake is called out.

I'll admit I'm intrigued with the idea, only because there is such a great community of likeminded Coach lovers who I know would treasure and value any bag I sell.

But the logistics of it all is where it falls apart, and @Hyacinth touches upon some of that in her comment. Policing it is entirely another matter, and frankly the Auction thread itself is a little messy because I think if an item is sold, that entire thread should be removed immediately, not left up indefinitely with just a SOLD comment buried within the thread. I don't think TPF should get into the business of selling directly, not to mention the quandary that puts the Authenticators in, unless Authenticators were going to be paid employees of TPF, and then you get into a whole other set of issues that I could go on and on about but essentially... I don't see it happening, nor do I think it's something they should investigate.

Fyi, This is the post from the the Prada forum Vlad is replying to above. I thought I had captured it. Anyone else heard about this?

Just to keep this subject from getting lost, I checked on the new poster who asked Vlad about selling on the tPF site back on August 9th. Three posts from her, all within 48 hours, and then nothing. She apparently logged in on Aug 24 and then disappeared again. So it looks like she doesn't have any intention of actually becoming an active member of the site, but was probably just looking for a place to sell her "Prada" if she hasn't done so already thru a PM (which might be why she checked in on the 24th).

JMO and I'm probably wrong, but like I said before, I'm a cynic. If someone's just interested in selling (or scamming!) instead of being a contributing member of a community, there are plenty of places to do that. And most scammers, with a few notable exceptions I can recall like Loukpeach and a few other roaches, can't be bothered with posting and contributing (unless it's to shill their own listings and websites) so they won't waste their time here if they're expected to actually, you know, POST. At least I hope so.

Well, Vlad’s response to the inactive member was that a buy sell platform was coming soon. So we’ll just wait and see.
