My favorite corningware is Centura, only made for a short time. It's not as translucent as Corelle, feels less like glass, and is more substantial, like the ovenware. After that, all the dishes were corelle. I only have a few pieces left. That shade of blue is so pretty! Our local antique mall has a few sellers that sell whole sets. I'm always drooling over them. The current set of modern stoneware we have is a ugly to me which is a colorblock of dark taupe grown and black. The set was a gift and we lost several half plates over the years as my toddler was swiping them off the table when he was 2 years old. Some of the plates chipped just from handling. I can't wait to get a whole new set of Corning Ware when the rest of the brown set dies!
When my kids were little, I didn't worry about having matching dishes. (Actually I still don't.) Every time we saw a plate we liked, I bought it. The kids had fun picking out which dish they wanted to use. I never had to worry about losing part of a set.
