if yours is about 8 3/4 at widest part, and about 7.5" high I bet it's the Chester. And Chester has the curved pocket and a flat bottom. I remember looking at what I thought was a Canteen on someone's reference photos of their Chester, and they were saying how roomy it is and were putting all this stuff in the bag and I didn't realize til I got this bag, that it COULD hold all that. I thought they were just magically putting it all in a Canteen somehowLOL....

I've been getting my bags from eBay. I have a "roundish" bag that I've been comparing to the Chester or Canteen bag. I'm just not sure because it looks like the bottom is flat. And, the top of the pocket is curved rather than straight. I paid $15 for it. It's a Leatherware with the xxx-xxxx serial number format. It's in excellent shape. I think it was a good find.

Wait, the pocket is curved on yours! I'm going to compare my bag to yours. Maybe mine is a Chester!

Thanks for the measurements. Those are the measurements for my bag, too. And, the zipper pull looks like yours. I'm still afraid to dunk my bags. But, I'm on my way out the door to get Leather CPR from Bed Bath and Beyond. And, I ordered a jar of Blackrock. So, at least I can spruce up the leather on the bags I've got.

you'll have to post a photo for us to see! This Chester I found is in wonderful condition. If I do a quick dunk on her it will be just to reshape her since she's a little squished through the side panels and bottom. Sometimes they only need a thorough wetting/soak then conditioner, without any other work being done. They are tough. I've washed LOTS of bags. I just don't like to wash red or brightly colored bags as much. but I've done it.

I picked up this Court Bag (w/ dust bag) at a yard sale last weekend for $10 (well, technically $9.99, 'cos later on, I found a penny inside it)

Can't wait to give her a bath and see what happens! But she is in pretty good shape.

The penny is for luck! I just received an eBay purchase with a penny in it. I thought it was a cute idea and since I'm mildly irritated with the seller it helped my mood.

Great lil bag, I cant believe you got a dust bag too!

Once you dunk you'll never go back.

Apparently the 'man purse' I bought for my husband is a "Kit Bag". I also think I have the "Bantam", but I keep it in my office to throw my wallet into when I have to take a hike across campus and don't want to bring a big bag with me. I'll have to compare it later.

As expected, my husband rejected the man purse, which is too bad as it would make his life easier when he makes those short plane trips he's had to make lately. That's OK it will make a handy concert bag for me. :)

I love to share the thrill of a bargain found!!! Does your local thrift shop know you on sight? Are you out garage sale-ing any chance you get? Or spending too many hours hoping for an ebay steal? This thread is your chance to show off your deals fresh off your adrenaline rush!! I'll start with a few finds from yesterday. (I have way too many deals from the past I could post also but I'm gonna start it off simple and let everyone join in.)

Thank you!!! It's sooo simple!! I have an ancient, armless (ugly) upholstered chair which luckily is just deep/wide/tall enough to hold most purse sizes. I threw a white sheet on it, (or I use colored large scarfs if I want another color ) I sit the chair near a window or in good lighting (daylight, but not in direct sunlight), and I play with my small digital camera settings til it looks good. and try to zoom in enough to get rid of any outside background stuff, to make it look like a studio shot. Usually no flash. I do a bit of ebay sales, so I had to come up with a quick but properly lit way of doing "product" shots". If I didnt' have that chair I'd probably find a spot with good lighting, sit a small card table up against a white wall with a white sheet on it, or drape a thumptacked sheet from the wall, down and flowing over the small table for continuity.

I tried this but my white sheets always end up looking blue and all the wrinkles tend to show. Yours look very professional.

Thank you!! I love the hunt :smile1:
Hyacinth determined the bag to be a Chester Bag!! It's quite roomy for how petite it looks. There's a Canteen bag Coach makes which is a mini version of a Chester. ...Something I didn't know!!

Bag twins! Though mine is red and I paid a lot more for it because it had the original box and paper and of course I HAD to have it.

TRIPLETS! Mine is bone...and surprisingly roomy!
