Of course you can fake those pictures. Put a cotton wad into your chin, and then add som red colour onto your skin. I am NOT saying that is what happened. I am only saying that you can fake a picture.

this is true. not only that, even though i have nothing to do with buying from this seller, but i have to add, that why would anybody in their right mind who is legitimately ill post pics of themselves being/looking ill on their FB? omg, that is just sick.

it's nobody's business if you're sick or not, and if you're running a business (or trying to run a business), then just say point blank, you're ill and so and so will be taking over until they get better. i would never post a pic of myself being sick on my FB, or anywhere for that matter.

that right there seems sketchy.

Totally agree with you.

Gga, I hope everything works out for you. It really sucks because a lot of ladies here have trusted and worked with Japster for a long time and it just sticks in the craw if she has done this. I have not bought from her, but I would have in a hot min simply based on the postive fb she had received prior.

I have bought several beautiful things from Elana and I just find this whole situation so bizarre. On Facebook she said she was ill but that was in July. Why has she not come forward since then? She has had a great reputation and she was such a frequent wonderful contributor to the Purse Forum and now it is like she has disappeared off the face if the earth.

This is so upsetting because I always trusted her product and her great customer service and that has all vanished for whatever reason.

If any of the Mods are reading this thread maybe they have some idea as to what has happened to her.

It just does not make any sense at all!!

Absolutely so. Any time a seller gets into a big song and dance about illness or any other life crisis, you have a seller hauling manure into your truck. Ill people who are in business don't normally use their illnesses as weapons/excuses. They take a break or find others to conduct things on their behalf.

So very sorry for anyone who was snared.

Please do update us gga. I've purchased several items from Elana as well. My first purchase was a high priced strand of pearls with diamonds. When it came, I was really disappointed. It really didn't have the luster that was described and that I expected. It also had A LOT more blemishes than disclosed. (And, not to be picky, but it was "wrapped" in Kleenex/ toilet paper and placed in a generic jewelry box.) Luckily, she took it back when I promised to spend the money as credit on other merchandises (I'm not sure if she would have required it as a condition of the return, I just offered to take a credit b/c I felt bad for the return). Unfortunately, I was never quite satisfied with the other stuff I spent the credit on; but, I always thought that it was just me since she had so many rave reviews from other tPFers- even tPFers who I thought had really good knowledge about jewelry.

In any case, I was just about to give her a second chance and purchase another big ticket item from her when I came across this thread purely by chance. I'm glad that the OP had the courage to speak up when something went wrong for her. I always doubted myself and never said anything negative about my transactions with Elana.

I am hopeful that everyone's issues with Japster are settled favorably and expeditiously. But I also think it's unfair for people to post here that because she has said she is ill, that equates with scamming people.

I think she is owed the benefit of the doubt until things are proved to be otherwise. Just because you would or would not put some kinds of photos on your Facebook page, or run your business a certain way doesn't mean that's how everyone behaves.

If she is ill, I hope things improve for her soon. And I hope people involved in business transactions with her obtain satisfaction.

Except I think there are some basic common courtesies that ought to be extended by any business - for example, if no one will be available to take or process orders for a period of time, then that ought to be stated clearly on the website. NO business ought to continue taking money from customers if they cannot follow through with sending out the orders because that IS scamming people, whether the business owner is sick or not. I don't begrudge anyone for having health problems; that is unavoidable. But to not send orders and yet charge credit cards and offer no communication or explanation is simply unacceptable.

The fact is that no matter why Elana has done what she has done, she has ruined her reputation with many, many people. As she of all people should have known, word of mouth goes a LONG way. Much of her business was built on the good word of previous customers. But on multiple websites now, numerous customers have posted the same experience the OP here has. That word has spread fast, and a reputation can be ruined as quickly as it was built. While I was ultimately happy with my order from Elana, I would never risk ordering from her again because of these situations. There is simply no excuse for a business to take a customer's money and not send them the product. Ever.

I had the opposite thing happen when my pearls were appraised. They appraised for three times what I paid for them. My jeweler (very high-end) told me she couldn't even come close to selling me pearls of the same quality for what Elana charged me.

I'm so sad to hear this about Elana. I'll reserve judgement until we hear from her.
