I wonder if we have the same SA. I was offered C’s but never B or K.
Ha! It's always a possibility. Only so many SAs at one shop. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I was offered the C's, as I don't fool myself into thinking I'm any kind of big fish in BH. I think it was just the basic rules of being a pleasant customer and being respectful that got me the offers.

If a birkin is on my wish list and I live in California, where should I start building a relationship with a sales associate? I’d like to make a few purchases but would like to choose the correct store?

I live closest to SCP - south coast plaza.

Would you choose scp ? Bh? Buy a few things at once in Vegas and hopefully be offered something that same day in Vegas?

Have you received an offer from one of those stores? What was your spend ratio?

Long time lurker here... I am fairly new to the H journey so I can't comment on spending ratio and receiving an offer, but I'd suggest choosing a store that is more accessible to you so that you can start building a relationship with an SA or go through the process of building one. Where I am located, there aren't that many tourists and the store prides itself in catering to and having strong relationships with local clientele. I haven't heard of people getting offered quota bags from one big drop. I wonder if SCP would be similiar to that and BH likely caters to celebs, super wealthy tourists, etc.

It depends on your timeline and budget as well. I've seen some YouTubers who went to Vegas and spend $20K+ in fine jewelry, shoes, and a watch, and was offered a B25 on the same day. If that's a possibility, why not?

I've just began my Hermes journey at SCP. Previously I've shopped online but never bought in store. Had an appointment couple weeks ago at SCP and purchased two pair of sandals. I asked for a garden party and a Lindy but none of the colors they had in store that day I liked. I've asked my SA to look out for a Lindy for me but I did find a Lindy online that I liked and I'm waiting to pick that up at the store. I'm hoping when I pick up the Lindy my SA will start a customer profile so I can let her know my wishlist items. Not sure if that's how it works.

There are so many horror stories online about SCP being the hardest store to get a birkin and with limited funds, I would rather put my money to its best use. While I will still be buying products, I don’t want to have to wait for a 2:1 spend ratio for an offer that another store could have possibly done a 1:1 ratio spend for a birkin.

would love to keep hearing more stories from others through this thread as well about SCP or BH - i have an appointment on monday at SCP (closest to me) and it will be my first time at an hermes boutique/starting my hermes journey - i'm in no rush for a bag at the moment, but of course it's an end goal, so definitely would love to see if it'll be even something attainable in the long run at SCP

I was also offered C's there in Feb, but not B or K.

Hello my store is BH. I believe it’s a 1:1 ratio. When first starting out they want to see that you are going to buy things other than leather goods. So I bought a bunch of dishes. The key is also to space out your spending. Like go in every three weeks make a purchase chat up the sa and build a relationship. I would always mention how my goal was a birkin. As I spent more and went in more frequently she began to start listening and told me I was getting there.
It’s odd bc I just requested a Constance but was told I had to wait. It was the same day as I placed a SO for a Kelly. So does this mean I need to spend 1:1 again to get the Constance?

I wanted to share my experience from South Coast Plaza today. Not sure if this is typical for Hermes shopping experience for 1st timers. This was my 1st time purchasing in Hermes. Never purchased online either.

Made an appointment last Thursday and immediately I did not get a good vibe from the other person on the phone (not sure if this is the SA that was assigned from leaving the voicemail). I got to the store around 4:45pm (appointment at 5:00pm and was told the appointment last for 1 hour) and checked in with the gentleman at the door. The SA who was assigned to us, was really not too welcoming. She asked me what I was looking for and I told her about the Calvi Card Holder and the Garden Party Tote (I did not mention B or K at all). She sped-walk to the next area, opened the drawer, and told me here are the card holders. My husband and I decided on one color. After that, the SA proceeded to check inventory on the Garden Party Tote 36. I was looking the black color so I could use it for work. She brought it out and I decided to purchase it. By the time I walked out, it was only 5:10pm. No card given either.

Only reason why I purchased the bag is because I wanted/needed an all leather tote bag for work. I work in the clinical research industry and I will start traveling soon. I would need to carry a laptop, an iPad, personal & work phone, folders/documents, cords for electronics, pens, and etc. Since I wanted it Black and not sure if I'll be able to come by that again. Otherwise, I would have not given her my sale.

Would the experience have been better if I told them that I've never purchased anything from Hermes and this would be my 1st? I do eventually want a Kelly, but sucks that I already made a big purchase that may not really count towards it.

My store is SCP even though BH is slightly closer to me. I rather deal with the parking situation at SCP than deal with all the aggressive driving that you encounter driving to BH. :panic:

My experience so far has been "pleasant." It hasn't been bad, but it's definitely not one of the locations where you can get "lucky." There was a 1:1 ratio for my first bag and then a 1.5:1 ratio for my second bag. I don't know if I ended up spending more for the second bag because it was a more desirable size or lack of inventory due to covid. From what I've heard from other members is that it is generally 1:1 or little bit more. Occasionally you do hear about those clients who take it slow (but not too slow!) and are patient who end up getting a bag with a less than 1:1 spend at SCP. I do think that rumors really do make out SCP to be worse than it really is and deters people from shopping there...which might work in my favor if there's less competition there. :graucho: Totally kidding about the competition bit. I believe each store's allotment of quota bags is dependent on how much revenue the store rings up.

i just had my first experience/appointment yesterday at SCP and had a similar experience as you - the SA we were assigned literally sped walk through our entire appointment (i wonder if we got the same SA LOL) - i feel like i blinked and the appointment was over. the moment we stepped in, she was like what are you looking for, sped walked to the shoes, asked me my shoe size, then sped walk to the back and then back to us, let me try the shoes on, then she was like okay what else/next ? then she like sped walk to the bastias so fast that she even had to stop and turn around to check where we were because we were that far behind her since she walked so fast.. i did ask for her card though at the end !

definitely wouldn't say i had a terrible experience as many others have mentioned that they had at SCP, my SA wasn't mean or unresponsive to anything i was asking/looking for, she was nice and polite, but wouldn't say we "clicked" either. but that purchase yesterday was on the "bigger" side, so i think i will really try to build/maintain a relationship with her

Thank you for sharing your experience!

I agree — we might have had the same SA.

The SA was nice and polite, but wasn’t as personable as I thought they would be. I wonder if that’s how she weeds out people who are not enthusiastic for the brand.

I’ll definitely give the store a second try when it comes time that I want to expand my Hermès collection.
