Shopping at Beverly Hills, South Coast Plaza or San Diego

Hi all! I like many other people want to get a Birkin and while I have read all a lot of the newbie information on this forum, I was hoping for some updated information and advice.

I live in Newport Coast in California so the closest store to me is at South Coast Plaza but after reading some of the stories about SCP on here I am terrified to spend my money there. I understand that you have to meet a certain quota of spending on rtw, shoes, housewares, etc. which I have no problem with, I just don't want to be treated awfully which it sounds like is what happens at SCP.

Would establishing a relationship at BH or even Las Vegas be a better bet than trying at SCP? Additionally, given the current situation with the pandemic are stores only open for appointments for clients who had a pre-existing relationship and do you think it will be harder than ever to get a Birkin bag in the coming months? One last question, my interest is in a B35 or B40, are these harder or easier to find in the stores?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Best bet would be Las Vegas as they cater to the tourist’s. Most of the stores in SoCal have established clients and usually the bags are reserved for them. You could also try the local stores and try your luck. Good luck.

The larger sizes are much easier to obtain. B35 and up and with Kellys even K32 and up. IMO 40 cm size is relatively easy to get as a walk-in....it was this way even before the mini bag craze.

i think both the SCP and BH stores are full of lovely SAs. BH is a home store for me so at this point I can’t comment on trying it as a new client, but when I wander into SCP they are usually very nice.
It is really all about being nice and genuine and most of the SAs at these shops are honest.
L’as Vegas is different as they expect so many tourists. Again for a larger bag you may have an easier time, but LV does tend to ask for other purchases. good luck!

Wow a K32 as a walk in would be amazing. I'm still holding out for a Europe trip this year, but if that doesn't work out I will just be thick skinned and try!

i wouldn't mind buying a few other items at the same time. What i don't want is to spend months or years and tens of thousands in the hopes of being offered a Kelly.

It's just a store :) Walk in, be nice, be interested, and you will strike a chord. I think all H stores can feel chilly at first but I just smile and am warm.....if they can't respond in kind it's not my problem :)

It took me nearly 6 years to get an offer in Orange County (which I'm GRATEFUL for). I agree on Vegas being a better place to build a relationship.

As for Europe, I've been extremely lucky and prefer Paris personally (plus it doesn't hurt to save thousands). If you are going to Paris try the Rue De Sèvres store, get there 30 minutes to an hour before and show your genuine love for the brand.

@madamelizaking Hum, rather than waiting for 6 years to get an offer in OC, why didn't you place a special order with your fave SA? That would be easier & faster, no?
Lol. Getting an SO offer in OC is even more impossible. I prefer to spend my money in Paris. South Coast is notorious for being a difficult store to get an offer, let alone an SO.

Oh noooooo...this is not what I want to hear. I’ve recently started working towards a quota bag with a scp SA. I feel like she was pretty upfront with me when she told me it’ll take about 6 months. I didn’t dare to ask her how much money I needed to spend because I would hope that’s not the whole point of hermes. I hope it’s just 6 months to show how much you love the brand.
Can you tell me more about the notoriety? Do you have friends who have waited and waited and spent and spent and still no offer?
