Shopping at Beverly Hills, South Coast Plaza or San Diego

I just came back from the South Coast Plaza Hermes store and had a very mediocre experience. Not sure if it was because it’s the Christmas shopping rush as there was a line to get into the store. It was my first time there and the SA assigned to help me was not interested to help me. She even asked another associate to help me with the rest of my visit (I said I wanted to buy a men’s tie, look at women’s shoes, then wanted to see if they have Picotins available.) No one gave me their contact info even when I asked if I could reach out and keep in contact. Can anyone give advice on how I can find a good SA at the SCP store that can help me since that is the store closest to me?
I recommend you to go with a newer SA. Old SAs have a long list of established clients so many of them don't take in new client anymore. During the weekdays or early morning on the weekend, there's usually no line. You can just walk in and chat with the SAs and see if you click with anyone, or you can ask the SM to assign you want. Make sure you let the SM know that you want to set up a profile and consider SCP your home store.

I am finally at a point in life where I feel that I am financially capable of hopping on the Hermes journey. A lot to learn and every forum or blog I am reading is about finding the right SA at your local store to build that relationship. I'm in San Diego and travel to Orange County for work a lot. From what I am reading, SCP is super competitive. I've tried working with someone at the La Jolla store but my SA has been extremely non-responsive to text. Any recommendation of how I can "build" that relationship? Seems to be one sided...I don't even know if I should just show up to store to browse if I can't get her to reply for an appointment request. HELP Please! :(

Hi, there! I'm also somewhat new as I've been shopping at Hermes for just over a year. I'll share my perspective in case it's helpful to you. Also interested in hearing the perspectives of others.

TLDR; I think it's important to establish early on that you're a serious customer who values your SA's time (in case you haven't considered this).

Given your circumstance, I would recommend that you consider texting your SA something along the lines of

"[Greeting]. I want to let you know that I will be stopping by the store on [date] around [time of day]. I would like to purchase [x, y, z]. Thanks".

It would be in your favor to make your message short and to-the-point while also using words that clearly state that you're serious about making a purchase. This will also help your SA plan a productive appointment. Hopefully they would respond to this message, if not, I would recommend going anyways.

That being said, I don't think it's uncommon for SAs to be unresponsive to texts. Many times, even for serious or long-term clients, SAs can take a few days to get back to them for various reasons. I think it's also best to A.) try not to take it personally and B.) give them the benefit of the doubt (e.g. maybe you've tried to reach them while they're on vacation).

Best of luck. I hope that next time you see your SA, you can refresh your relationship with them! If all else fails, since you're early on in your relationship with the store, you might consider using your upcoming trip to find a new SA that you feel good working with. X

Thank you for sharing the tips and appreciated the encouragement! I will definitely give it a try and monitor the situation a bit longer before deciding if switching is needed. I understand the journey to QB wish list is long and all I am seeking is some quality time spend so we can get to know each other. One of the reasons I decided to hop on the Hermes journey is the experience as I believe each bag should have its own unique story before it reaches my hands. Fingers crossed things will head to the right direction soon :)

I felt like I finally made some progress at SCP last week, I bought a few things and got the name of an SA finally. They didn’t give me their card, but at least I can start to ask for them. I’m not interested in a QB for now, maybe one day, but my sights are set on a picotin 22.

The SA told me that one was a little more common than the 18, and they actually added it to my wish list. Not sure if it will make much difference since I’m not sure how the wish lists actually work for non QBs. If I need to be spending like I’m shooting for a QB for it to ever turn into an offer for this bag then I’m in trouble  I know my spend won’t hit the average range for the VIP or VVIPs any time soon.

I was at the SCP store over the weekend and I can't believe how crazy the line was to get in. Good luck on your picotin! Report back when you get an offer (hopefully soon). :)

Hi,

I live in Orange County but travel to SD a lot for work. :) My home store is SD. I tried shopping at SCP but didn’t click with any SAs there, plus that store is very competitive. The SAs at the SD store are amazing, Ive been shopping at the store for about 1.5 years and I was offered a bag with the exact specification I had requested for. I didn’t mind waiting because I knew what I wanted, and in the meantime I shopped what I liked. Although my Birkin came after a year, I was offered other hard to obtain bags. If you don’t hear from your SA, try sending a reminder after a few days or a week, or call the store and request an appointment with your SA. Building a relationship takes time, patience, and the right SA! Don’t give up, keep trying, and you still don’t feel like you aren’t clicking with your SA, you can always switch SAs.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am the other way around: live in SD and travel to OC for work few times a month. I visited the SCP store a few weeks ago and that store was super busy and I can't help to think it would be much harder to build the relationship with SA there. After reading all the feedback, I've tried a few different things and I am finally getting to know my SA and able to carry a few more conversations. I am nowhere close to be asked about my wish list but I figure I will slowly move my way there. I am like you, I shop what I like so in a sense. I am going with the flow and putting trust in the process.
How long did it take before you were asked for your wish list especially QB? What's the spending ration for the QB if you don't mind sharing?

I wasn’t asked. I ended up asking my SA based on the feedback from this forum - They don’t know what you want unless you ask. I just brought it up when I got a watch. I spent about 1.5x before I was offered a QB.

Guys I need advice, I got my cashmere jacket 2/2022 and was told by the SA the cloth garment bag was on shortage and they will give me one once they have shipment. A year later, I have checked back about 5 times but with no response in the last 6 months. I have stopped shopping with this SA since I never get any response from her. Should I escalate and ask the store manager?

Sounds reasonable. A cashmere jacket definitely needs a garment bag
