- What size/width are you?

i'm a 10W. sometimes i can wear normal width, depending on the cut of the shoe i guess?

- Do you get your shoes stretched, by a cobbler or DIY? How much have you been able to stretch them by?

so far, i've had 3 pairs of shoes professionally stretched. it helps with the breaking-in part.

- What brands make wide shoes? What about brands that make shoes that tend to fall on the wide side?

to me, ferragamo C/D widths are the most forgiving in terms of width. one time i tried a ferragamo vara in D width, it was actually TOO WIDE for my toes. gasp. imagine that? i never that that'd be possible. hahaha.

tory burch sallys and sally 2s have been very comfortable for me, as long as it's normal leather. these i don't need to break in. they're pretty much comfortable on the first wear. to prove how much i love them...i think have 8 pairs of them. :p the patent leather and the non-leather shoes take a bit of time to break in.

living in asia makes it such a big pain to buy wide-width shoes. i most go online for my footwear wants/needs. naturalizer and aerosoles have been good buys in the past. also bloch, but i still need to size up for blochs. and melissa flats. they're rubber but it's still cute and what not. also don't buy lanvin flats. ever.

- Do you get shoes custom-made? By who?

Nope

- What else do you do to land the shoes of your dreams while still keeping foot pain to a minimum?

i bought them anti-chafing thingies. i use monistat anti-chafing gel on my feet. :p also i have an arsenal of plasters, blister pads, foot cushions, heel gel pads, etc etc.

Great thread!

- What size/width are you?
I have uneven feet. I'm about a 9.5W on the right and 9W on the left but a shoe store told me I'm really an 8.5/9 WW. :( If I can't find a wide shoe, I usually size up to a 10.

- Do you get your shoes stretched, by a cobbler or DIY? How much have you been able to stretch them by?
Never thought about that. I usually size up or get a wide width shoe.

- What brands make wide shoes? What about brands that make shoes that tend to fall on the wide side?
Aerosoles (but the quality is not great), Softs (usually a narrow cut), clarks. I'm stiull looking for a good sexy wide shoes.

- Do you get shoes custom-made? By who?
Never

I don't do pain anymore. I wear comfort brands and low heels/wedges whenever possible.

I think it's really unfair that the 'fashionable' outlets don't cater for people with wide feet or those that suffer from swollen feet. It used to really upset me that I couldn't help my nan with her swollen feet issue until I found www.widerfitshoes.co.uk They're a really good brand and they have the most comfortable shoes ever! I don't suffer from swollen feet but the extra wide shoes that they sell feel like slippers for outdoors. Hope this helps!

My boyfriend has wider ish feet since hes a guy and he has good luck with Tory Burch so I guess if some of you girls have wider feet that might be a good place to start?

I have small and pretty narrow feet so I guess I never really thought about it but I can see it being hard to find nice heels if you dont fall into whatever the shoe companies think is normal lol

OP, thank you for starting this thread! I enjoyed reading the solutions and brand suggestions everyone has shared so far. Keep it coming!

It certainly isn't easy having wider feet. My feet are 9.5 and on the wider side. The problem is that my toes are all almost the same length, thus my feet are wider in the toe area than so called "normal" feet. But my heel is pretty narrow, so a lot of time W width shoes are way too wide at the heel for me. Generally, I don't wear high heels, just because I can never find any shoes comfortable enough that wouldn't hurt my toes. 2.5-3 inches is probably max for my heels.

I generally look for "squarish toe" shoes as I absolutely cannot shove my feet into anything pointy. I'd probably have to go up by 2 sizes to fit into those, haha.

For comfortable walking shoes, I've had good luck with Finn Comfort shoes. They generally run wide and sandals frequently have adjustable straps in the toe area. They are pricey, but very worthwhile and also very durable.

For nicer shoes, Ferragamo 9.5C Varas are ok for me, a little tight on my little toe in the beginning, but stretch later. I never got to try D width as the stores never seem to have them in stock.

Sesto Meucci shoes also come in C width and I find them very comfortable and well made.

I also just bought a pair of Gucci suede loafers/moccasins in size 10, and they are heavenly. So comfy, didn't even have to break them in. So there is always hope in finding some shoes that fit!

- What size/width are you?

7WW

- Do you get your shoes stretched, by a cobbler or DIY? How much have you been able to stretch them by?

I have my own shoe stretchers, one for flat shoes and one for high heels. I can stretch them a lot, but it takes time.

- What brands make wide shoes? What about brands that make shoes that tend to fall on the wide side?

Half my shoes are Balenciaga, but they are narrow to begin with.

- Do you get shoes custom-made? By who?

No, but maybe someday!

I make sure the shoes I buy are made from real non-patent leather or suede (other materials don't stretch as well), don't have any stitching across the area I need to stretch, and have round toes. That narrows the options a bit, but I like those options a lot better than sticking to shoes that come in WW. I'm glad patent leather isn't as popular as it was a few years ago because it was really hard for me to find shoes then! And I hope pointy toes never make a comeback. Those were the worst years of my life.

Thanks for this thread. I am very frustrated right now trying to find cute, flat summer sandals in WW widths. Apparently they don't exist. It really pisses me off that wide widths are ignored by shoe manufacturers.

Ladies ladies ladies! I share all of your worries and pain and I too have had such a nightmare finding myself some comfortable shoes. I have had so many horror stories of shopping at "wide feet" stores but the shoes are hell to walk in after an hour! If you have ridiculously wide feet as well as a bunion like me Wider Fit Shoes are a good place to look. I have joys just browsing on the site even when I don't need any new shoes because it is just so refreshing to see somewhere cater for wide feet problems! http://www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/ladies

LOL. Looks like this retailer keeps plugging their product here!

- What size/width are you?

8.5 w

- Do you get your shoes stretched, by a cobbler or DIY? How much have you been able to stretch them by?

No

- What brands make wide shoes? What about brands that make shoes that tend to fall on the wide side?

I love the ivanka ***** indico pumps! I just recently bought a stuart weitzman peep toe pump and it's really comfortable. I tried louboutin shoes but some styles don't get along well with my feet.

- Do you get shoes custom-made? By who?

No

- What else do you do to land the shoes of your dreams while still keeping foot pain to a minimum?

I think for wider feet, go for lower heels or try pumps with platform.

- What size/width are you?
10 Wide. My feet are also weirdly shaped where my big toes are significantly longer than my 2nd toes, and also larger and more upturned than normal, and then all my smaller toes cascade downwards in length from there at quite an acute angle.

- Do you get your shoes stretched, by a cobbler or DIY? How much have you been able to stretch them by?
I had some skater shoes stretched by a cobbler back in college. Needless to say, my style has changed a bit since then ; ). I *would* like to get some size 10 Tieks stretched because they fit perfect everywhere except for the toebox being too narrow up-and-down ways for my fat big toes and wide feet! But it doesn't look like they have enough material there to even stretch, so I'm going to see if its possible to get the elastic taken in on size 11's, which fit perfect in the toes but are a little loose in the heels.

- What brands make wide shoes? What about brands that make shoes that tend to fall on the wide side?
So far, the only comfortable shoes I've found are Vivobarefoot ballet flats (wish they came in more colors), and various moccasins (Wassookeag, Footskins, Arrow Moc). Also, mukluk boots! And Tieks, if I can ever resolve the whole 10/11 issue mentioned above...>:(

- Do you get shoes custom-made? By who?
Yes, my moccasins from Arrow Moc and Footskins were custom made wider.

- What else do you do to land the shoes of your dreams while still keeping foot pain to a minimum?
Buy shoes that stretch, like real leather! And that are flat!--I'm very tall, so I've never got into wearing heels, and find flats SO much more comfortable in terms of fit and natural gait.

I have wide feet and I buy most of my shoes from here http://www.clarks.co.uk/c/womens-boots/wide-calf-boots they do half sizes and choice of widths. I walk everywhere so good shoes are important to me, poorly fitting shoes, destroy posture, knees, spine and pinch the face. I never buy pointy shoes as they will permanently distort the bones in my feet. I don't like clogs or those other 'comfortable' shoes either as they make people 'waddle'. Wintertime - I wear top quality socks -cashmere even in colder days and make sure I give myself a pedi every couple of weeks...in fact I am quite fanatical about well fitting shoes...and lovely feet.:rolleyes:

^Yes, that's pretty much what I do! Size up, size up again, and sometimes size up 3 times (9, 9.5, 10!) to get shoes that are wide enough, then pad them at the heel to shorten them. I also have collapsing arches (flat feet, but only when I'm bearing weight on them) which is known to affect posture, so it probably impacts the way I put wear on my shoes...but when you have high insteps/wide feet anyway, then try to squeeze an insole in, there's no way any shoe will fit at that point...

I have flat feet and notice that its hard for me to comfortably fit a lot of shoes because of it. I tried wide shoes but they were too wide, the only thing I can do is wear the shoe until it stretches to fit my foot. My shoes have to be leather.

I need some help...SOO I have wide feet and it's a pain shopping for designer shoes because most only carry B size. In CLs I'm a size 41...I literally have to go 3 sizes up to fit them because I'm a size 8 normally. Wondering if there are any pumps that can fit my ridiculously wide feet?

Any suggestions?

:D
