I LOVE train wrecks, too! But I'm a bit weird since I think imperfections make many things (as well as people!) beutiful. I also like veining in togo leather and many times prefer the look of an alligator over croc because of the uneven scales...these things just add something special and more character to the items! Good luck Brennamom!!

Actually - that's why I love my baroque pearls. They are quirky in a BIG way

1970's vintage leather bag with gold tone closure and in the style of the the famous pricess grace "kelly" bag made by Hermes. !!!!!! Great Vintage BAG FROM MY COLLECTION!!!!! In exellent pre-owned condition.... it has the all the hallmarks of the real deal it has been used ssome what the the leather is soft I got this in a vintage market in Italy in the early 80's
... It is in vintage used exellent condition It has no major condition issues not a stain or smells inside or out and no smoke as always with my bags there are no rips or missing parts, The leather shoulder handelhandel is still stiff and clean and the bag retains it's shape and is stiff in structure which is how they are new so this is NOT FLOPPY AND HALF DEAD, all the parts are there and in very good shape.
OK ladies I am cleaning out stuff have too much and if you know me I am always selling because I buy too much and what I buy tends to be high end and couture lucky you poorer me... so I clean out and sell off what I do not wear so that I can buy more... go figure! Women we are all the same we just collect stuff! ***You can have bag authenticated, but you must contact me Prior to agree upon where.

Great thread Margie!

I realized that even if I could find references and links to old train wrecks searching threads - the links back to auctions would be dead. So...going forward, this thread wll serve as a visual library of memorable wrecks, and the warped realities of those sellers describing them!

Not to mention the folly of those that might bid on them:roflmfao: ( yes, I set myself up, but I auth'd mine first!)

I wouldn't touch some of those bags with a ten foot pole! Ick, just think of what might be on the dirty old bag! Maybe they have been used for feed bags?! (I guess I'm a germ freak)

Perhaps an attempt to modify it into a Kelly clutch? :faint:

margie - the H scarf catalog I think has a snap shot of a beaten up old kelly missing its handle. . . so I think its possible to be chic and carry one of these things -- problem is the reason the pic looks so good is a svelte, young model is carrying it. . . I hope Seton doesn't mind my quoting (hope I am not mis-quoting something I think she wrote about this orange bolduc GM: it helped to have, ". . . a lean, coltish figure. . ." Such a thing would help any of these train wrecks look great. . .hugs to you MB.

Margie, love this thread! I feel so sad for the unloved authentic bags.

You are not the only one Ali! *moisturizing Kelly as we speak*

Brennamom, hey for the right price it's totally worth trying a restoration!
You can work wonders following Doc's instructions. You should have seen my Kelly before DH and I cleaned her up. It had food?, makeup?, tiny flecks of white paint?, and scuffs but now after cleaning, some color restorer, and lots of moisturizing she looks fantastic! We received praise from the H SAs on her condition which made us feel fantastic. :D
