Selling on Poshmark

OMG this is a nightmare. I hope you get a resolution in your favor.
I’m not all that positive but we shall see. If I have time I’d start a class lawsuit because Poshmark is practically transferring all of the financial risks to sellers without any tangible responsibilities. They don’t even have a customer service support line or online chatting system. I’m switching all high value item sales to Vestiaire going forward.

Follow up on the thread : I reached out to Poshmark customer support as well as random corporate high ups from LinkedIn multiple times fighting the case and they finally responded with the proposed resolution of having me ship the bag back to HQ as soon as I got it.

I got the bag yesterday and the buyer damaged a few places which I replied back in the case with the photo evidence. And guess what, she reported me to posh saying that I’m acting against community guidelines.

At this point the incident has evolved so comically that I don’t know what to think of this platform.EAD771A4-D6B4-476D-8948-DDDA95D7D4CF.jpeg

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am going through some thing very similar, but with a much less valued item. I purchased a pair of Gucci tights and meant to return them but got busy and missed the return deadline. They been sitting in my closet unopened so I decided I would post them since I am never going to wear them. I took timestamped photos of the item (because I’ve heard of things like this happening so I prepared myself with all the evidence in case it ever did) and of the sealed package (from gucci) before I boxed it up and put it in a Gucci box packed it really nicely sealed the box taking photos the entire way. The buyer gets it, tries it on snags it and then submits a claim to Poshmark saying that I sold tights that were damaged and used and they knew they were tried on and used when they opened the package because the elastic band was stretched out, and the package wasn’t sealed but didn’t take photos of that until Poshmark asked. When I could prove the package was sealed when it left with time stamped photos, they then went on to accuse me of selling fake goods!! Asked me to send proof of purchase, which I did, and then went on to side with the buyer refunding their money.
Poshmark then threatened/reminded me that it was illegal to sell fake goods, even though I’ve reported fakes and posts where people posed they know the item is fake and they leave those ads up.
I’m disgusted with Poshmark and definitely will never use them ever again and want to really make people aware that it is not a good service to use
I’m still going to fight it just on the principle of the fact that the buyer damaged it it’s no good to me anymore and now I’m being accused of things.
I really hope you get a better resolution and make sure to tell people about this experience. I don’t want anyone else to go through it.

I think Postmark is a terrible business. I think eBay, because there are reviews and ratings, sellers and buyers are more accountable. I went on the Better Business Beaureu website and I'm reading lots of nightmare stories from seller and buyers. They have a 1 star rating and not a recommended business. I filed a complaint on BBB, will see how Posh responds. (Mine is a Tiffany jewelry item).

Sorry to hear all the terrible experiences, but I disagree the saying that Poshmark is a terrible business. I think all businesses can be terrible businesses if we only look at bad outcomes.

I think there are lots of positive side of buying and selling on Poshmark, such as: 1. Very easy to list items compare to some other places, 2. no fees to list, 3 easy to ship. 4. authenticate anything over $500 (V.S some places only authenticate certain brands certain categories. 5. more protection to sellers compare to some other selling places. etc 6. more protection to buyers too compare to some other places, etc etc.

Unfortunately every place you can post items for sale will almost 100% of the time side with the buyers. Without buyers they don’t have a platform. If 100 people list an item on a site and no one buys anything they don’t make any money. So they are never inclined to side with sellers. That includes PayPal. It’s very hard for a seller to fight a claim and win with any of these forums.

I agree that I thought Poshmark was initially kind of fun, a bought a few fun items and sold some also....but given this really egregious lack of consumer protection, I'm no longer going to be a customer (seller or buyer). I'm an "older gal" here and have been around since the beginning of eBay, and they've had their ups and downs so I get that all businesses are not perfect, I'm a very avid online shopper. I've never had such a bad experience. First time I also put in a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. When I looked at their Better Business Bureau complaints from both so many sellers and buyers, I was shocked but then given my experience, not so shocked. They are not recommended by the BBB and a one star business. I don't even go to less than 3 star rated businesses on Yelp, no way I will do business with a one star online business.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. This is a frustrating experience. After reading your post, I am so glad that I didn’t end up selling my Chanel Boy on Poshmark. I posted the bag on there before and got some interested buyers. However, after much consideration, I removed the post because I didn’t want to deal with the risk of selling it on my own. It’s ok, I am keeping the bag and will use it. Hope your situation gets resolved soon.

OP I am so sorry you are going through this nightmare! Since you have many detail shots, I feel posh should side with you. If your photos aren’t evidence, then I don’t know what is. I also think it was posh authenticator’ s job to double check on conditions.

TLDR: Be cautious selling on Poshmark. Might be worth accepting a low price from a consignment company to avoid dealing with crazy people.

Sorry for the loooong post, just needed to vent.

Before the crazy bag boom, when I was tired of a bag, I sold it to Fashionphile. With the buyouts they have been offering recently, I resorted to selling my bags on Poshmark.

I have never had anyone return ANYTHING from my closet. I have had over 50+ transactions. Most people leave me really kind love notes.

Regrettably, I really did enjoy giving people a great deal on Poshmark. Knowing that my bags were going to homes that would love and use them! Sad to say, I encountered someone that has taken advantage of me.

I reached out to Poshmark support, hoping that my issue will get resolved quickly. Unfortunately, this situation has made me think twice about continuing to sell my bags on the site.

As soon as I accepted an offer on a Black classic Chanel bag (full set), I had other people message me to relist for a higher price. However, I kept my word to the buyer and shipped it for the price she bought it for. I know if I re-listed the bag I would have another buyer immediately.

Buyer complained about minute scratches upon arrival. These flaws were not present prior to shipping out the bag. In the order status chat, I stated that I photograph and video all of my items before shipping them to HQ/or buyer. In this case, it was a bag way over $500.

In a change of tune, after saying I take videos and photos prior to shipping, she then stated Poshmark damaged the item. On the last day to accept the order, she filed a request for a return.

Buyer stated multiple times in the order status chat that she doesn't want to return the item "but wants to know what happened". What is her angle? I believe she was fishing for credit from Poshmark, and by her actions, I do not think this was her first time. If she didn’t want to return, which she stated numerous times, why was she complaining about damage? Damage that she doesn’t even deem worthy of a return!?!? Why would she open a case for return?

Anyway, in the end, Poshmark approved her return. She’s had the bag in her possession for over 5 days. Asked if she would return the bag to me, and she stopped responding…

Today, I messaged her on her posts and our private chats asking when she would ship my bag back as I had others that wanted to purchase. She then immediately cancelled the return?!?!

I believe she was emailing with Poshmark privately to get a store credit. From looking online, Poshmark usually gives 10%. That means she received $390 in Poshmark credit.

I do not want to think that this buyer would intentionally destroy an item to favor a case. However, my concerns are present.

It has left such a sour taste! I sold the item in good faith. She haggled me down to $3,900 and I reluctantly accepted. She strung me along with a sob story about how much she wanted the bag. She complained about sales tax and it being over her budget. Which is hilarious now knowing she lives in Delaware (where the package was delivered) and there is no sales tax there. What a liar.

Taking a closer look at her Poshmark page (after the mess), it’s filled with posts about calling people out for scamming. It’s comical.

This situation was so bad I might close my closet all together. This sucks!

I'm so sorry about your experience. I sell on Poshmark and have 50+ transactions as well. I sold one designer bag (Ferragamo) on there and swore to never list another designer item on there again. She haggled me on the price, which wasn't substantial but slightly annoying dealing with someone cheap. On the third day she claimed it was a fake and opened a dispute, despite store tags still being attached. I refuted but then she tried to claim damage. I told her I took a video of the bag that showed every angle moments before it was packaged and shipped, and she stopped responding. Poshmark still sided with her and it took me over a week to get my bag back. I'm 100% sure she just had buyers remorse. I'd rather take a loss and send my bags to Fashionphile than deal with customers like her. I've sold clothes and accessories on eBay and Poshmark for years and never dealt with a return until her.
