I'm astonished that so little has sold out. If he wants the bags to be 'more exclusive' then he's clearly getting his wish. Lesson - don't upset your loyal customers.
exactly. Our dear Monsieur has been banging on and on about not wanting just the English customers...
so he has got his wish.
lesson, don't spit on the customers that made your brand a success.:p

Hmm, I have a slightly different take. I think the amount of surplus stock at the moment might actually be because the repositioning to the new strategy is not yet complete, i.e. stock levels have still been based on the idea that Mulberry will sell a lot of bags for less. We're seeing surplus because only half the strategy - the pricing side - could be easily implemented (easy enough to change a price tag); I imagine it might have been tough to cut order numbers as those would have been done further in advance. Now that we're into a new season I suspect overall levels of stock will reduce, leading to less going into sales (if it gets that far).

Could be totally wrong, mind!

their shareholders will hope you are right! ;)
I should love the fact that my collection is worth way more now but I don't. I loved the luxury feel for a little bit less...... and is why in the beginning I bought and bought and bought. DH is thankful now though so that is probably a plus. :p

I guess I just think - what would a Bryn have cost a couple of years ago - probably around what it is now it's at 50% reduction? It's not a 'special' leather - so it sort of makes sense it hasn't sold much until the price came down.

The newer bags, however, have those newer, fancier leathers - so there's more justification for the higher price in those cases. (Depending on your view on what is ever justifiable when it comes to pricey handbags!)

I am sad that I will not be buying as many Mulberries, but I can see the logic even though I don't much like it!

I wished I bought one more lily, but other than that I think that's me done for a long while.trying to up the exclusivity without IMO the quality to back it up. * wanders to the couch*

Nice!! *NOT*

Now I won't even be able to afford those!! Do you by any chance know when they'll increase the price and also if the bags in the pre-increase season will also be affected? For example, the AW 2012 line that will soon arrive at the outlets?
Outlet prices are based on the original RRP of the bag. Therefore as bag prices increase at full retail, so the outlet price will increase when (if) that bag goes to outlet. For example, lilys were £595, their outlet price would be around £416.....new lilys at £750, if they ever get to the outlets will be around £525....
I have to agree with Wordsworth. They have adopted a very different production strategy over the AW13 collection.....if the bags are popular, there is much greater potential for them to sell out. But we can all second guess......time will show. :thinkin:
