I get to work on a closet redesign! What do you think of a vertical pullout with hanging rods? I just can't decide....I like the idea of it. I welcome your thoughts

Great idea, I would rotate and display my scarf by different seasons, take out the ones for the current season and keep rests in drawers. When I had my dressing room built, I had different sizes of cubes made for the flexibility....

Glad to see some action over on this thread, my storage problem is acute but inertia stops me from doing anything too constructive. It was easier to sell off a few scarves.
I live in a Victorian house with no built in drawers and cupboards ,and so much as I like the Muji and Ikea options they wouldn't fit my antique set-up.
I almost bought this piece , described as a Pyramid chest and quite big at 5' high. It would have been perfect , but unless they are within fingertips reach I wouldn't wear my scarves [ I am really lazy] and in the end I think it may have looked very strange in the bedroom!
I would have painted it French Grey , stored CSGMs in the lower drawers going up in sizes to Gavroches at the top.
I just didn't remember to bid:roll eyes: and it sold for birdseed.

Lovely chest, you never know when antiques will turn up. I'd love an older piece as most of our furniture is old but it so hard to find the right thing.

Finding stuff is coming back onto the market but you have to be right there.

Many years ago I gave my DH a new dressing room for his birthday. He had a fruitwood dresser from when he was very small. I found a furniture maker who built individual pieces to go with it out of old wood but with modern fittings.

Somehow never got around to doing my own closet. Thinking the Muji drawers would eventually end up insider an old wardrobe with a rail to one side for hanging shawls.

Frou frou, I am LOLing at your post. I am lazy too. Sometimes I'm too lazy even to open the silk drawers to go through the stacks and decide what to wear. I just look at a picture file on my computer of all my scarves. I might have too many.....:lolots::lolots::lolots:

I went to IKEA by bike, without a scarf. But I see myself sneaking in some next time to see how well I can use the drawers. Especially since I do not know the exact inner dimensions of the drawers. Neither do I know where to put that chest.
With growing collection come growing storage challenges. "First world problems..."
I prefer folded over like at the store, easier to pull out.
At the moment I am using these, but the drawers are kind of hard to pull out:

Nice pic of the IKEA box

IKEA is a great place. I have some of their open shelves but never looked at their drawers. These look so great!

How many scarves do you have ? There are only 13 in the photo , not sure you couldnt get the same access by just putting scarves on hangers , and oin rods , which is a bit more flexible if 5 years from now , you decide the ditch the scarves and need more space for other stuff

Just though - wonder if scarves might get stuck, when you close it, especially for very light scarves like mousse, CS would probably not be an issue

Map drawers are popular - chest of drawers with shallo and wide drawers - like for maps - Mai Tai has a variant on that

I am trying to use my scarves..rather than just buy them. So I need them to be accessible and ideally, visible.

Thank you Marietouchet. I have about 50 scarves. I go back and forth; storing them in the boxes or in clear sleeves. The latter is more user friendly as I can see what I have. I do like the flat drawer idea.

Tokamaka I admire your discipline! Do you keep the boxes? Would you post a picture of your scarf cubes, please?

I'm going to copy your computer file idea , so much less energetic than opening the boxes:D:D:D:D

I have the worst storage in the world , 2 per box and the boxes stacked inside a deep drawer .

Sigh....[emoji179]. Heavenly.

I could make my home in your mousseline drawer...:cloud9:
I'll bring my red Turandot with me ;)

I am swooning over your collection and your storage.

Best possible storage and it's meant for silks, no improvement possible. Would so love one of these too.

Great collection!

Thank you dear silkies. You are all so kind. Now I might have to get another tansu just for regular clothes :roflmfao: froufrou, come visit me with Red Turandot anytime.
