I never know quite how to evaluate the trustworthiness of those eBay sellers who offer numerous vintage Hermes scarves for sale. Where do these folks obtain their inventories? If a seller conducts volumes of Hermes scarf sales would this necessarily suggest that they are dealing in fakes, or are there legitimate secondary market sources that such dealers might be using? Thanks for any insights!

Each time you go to the sale, you can buy only 10 sale scarves, but a seller can go many times and get 50-60 scarves in a week.

So, no, lots of sale inventory does not indicate fraud, as long as the seller is upfront about their being sale scarves

It just means the seller had the patience to stand in line a lot

I prefer to not name names on a public forum but I'm thinking of various Ebay sellers here. here is a number of ways they get inventory - for used scarves

1. Some sell on consignment , I've used used some of them & it is an excellent way to sell your least favorite scarf without the heartburn of Ebay

2. Some are in foreign countries and have access to consignment stores, flea markets , or even internet stores (esp in foreign languages) that we are unaware of

3. Some are emptying their own overfilled closets

4. Some buy low & resell high on Ebay, usually after doing a wonderful job of pressing and photography to present the scarf at its best (they probably bought a wrinkled scarf at an auction with crappy pictures)

I'm on a list of 1200 Hermes scarf collectors, and it is not uncommon for women on the list to have over 1,000 scarves in their personal collections.

I sell on eBay and it's always 1. my personal collection (usually the scarves I bought and never wore) or 2. the personal collection of a close friend how has over 1,000 scarves.

I was in the same predicament as Grands Fonds, in that I was interested in a scarf being sold by Jae_nomura. I had heard that she is based in Singapore (not 100% sure if this is true) :confused1: , whilst the item location of the scarves is in the United Kingdom. This may tie in with what Hello2703 says - in that the scarves may not be personally seen by the seller. I just loved that scarf - sigh :girlsigh:

Jae Nomura is a Japanese woman who now lives in the UK.

I have never seen her list a scarf that was not authentic Hermes, and I've followed her auctions for a lot of years. She has a couple of EBay IDs.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of her descriptions, but she does cheerfully take returns if you're unsatisfied. You have to pay the return postage, though.

One thing about 'Hermes never made that colorway' -- A LOT of the scarves sold at the Hermes sale in Paris are of limited production runs. It's not uncommon to see a colorway at the sale that wasn't even listed in the scarf books that the boutiques have on hand.

You can add me to the list of very satisfied customers of luxury-scarves.com. I bought 3 scarves from them just a week ago and their service was incredible! I am so happy with them and I have bought another item from them since.

Has anyone had any dealings with goodkarna on ebay? The shop name is Gallerie de Luxe. I didn't see them on TPH's reputable list or 'watch out' list... I'm eyeing a scarf...

Thanks in advance!

To follow up on Doreenjoy's post regarding Jae Nomura - I have had multiple transactions with her. I did get a scarf which was not in the condition described and she readily agreed to take it back. I did end up paying the postage, but was relieved to be able to return it, frankly. I have since purchased from her a scarf I searched high and low for...it was in perfect, unworn condition and I love it! The issue I have heard raised about her most often is that the scarves are sometimes not as described - I've not heard anyone raise authenticity questions about her auctions.

^^greenjade is fabulous! I've purchased from her many times and the scarves have always been as described.

I've also purchased from Jae Nomura a few times and all of the transactions have been perfect.

^^^ I've purchased from greenjade too. The first was perfect condition, the second was not as described. I'm still trying to follow-up with greenjade with no luck yet. :confused1:

^^^ Just wanted to report that I DID have contact with greenjade last night, YEAH!! - So am hopeful in getting all misunderstandings resolved.

To be continued.................
