I am feeling the itch but I'm spending money with local stores (bought my daughter a bath toy from a local kid's store, little stuffed bunny from a local artisan who normally sells on Etsy, a sweater from a local clothing store) and also getting carry out from local restaurants. I feel it's money well spent, no guilt attached because I'm supporting people's livelihoods, and I get a little something fun out of it!
I totally get that! Gonna do that with my Covid19 funny money to come from the USguvmit.
As to the one scarf I have purchased, $$$ went to a sweet seller-cum-friend in France who can also use the money as she shelters with her elderly parents in the countryside.

Time to renew this thread as I am reallllllllleeee itching to buy something! Anyone else chomping at the “bit”?

Surely, my evil imaginary twin whispers, the constant assault of bad news means I should comfort myself with something very pretty—maybe even a bag, although my second thought on bags is how much money they take from the “scarf fund.”

The good news is the scrolling and “computer window” shopping is expanded to ALL the H items, further desensitizing, because after all, there is just too much wonderfulness out there to ever afford it all.

On the other hand, I shopped and bought new running boards and steps for the Jeep. Cost: 1 new 90cm.
I think if you want it and can afford it get it. The economy can definitely use some stimulation. As for me, I am waiting until H opens to support my SA (who I hope still has a job when this is all over). I am working from home and not going out so I don’t need anything. I also bought a lot last month befor stores closed so that helps too!

funny you should revive it right now. because yesterday I failed. totally pulled the trigger on a whim, because I was in a moment of frustration over the work from home situation and my team not communicating properly, just having received the bonus payment this week and then at that time hit with a newsletter from Luxury shops, which i obviously forgot to unsubscribe. GRRRRr

anyways. I scratched the itch (Sous l'égide de mars CSGM preloved) and the guilt doesn't feel good - maybe use that as anti-motivation?
also I feel absolutely horrible for indulging when other people are losing their jobs.
not in a great place today mentally. Maybe I should go meditate

I wish you strength!
stay safe!

I understand your second thoughts but Cordi put it into a different/good perspective and this is such a wonderful, special design. When it came out, fans of the design were saying how they view the armor as protection and strength. Wear it in joy and great health.

Try to think of it as Cordeleire and Rhl suggested, abstaining if you don't have to to doesn't actually change things for those people, it could actually make it worse, it's not a bad thing to keep the money circulating (again if there's not psychological or financial problem).

The scarf ties so well, so congratulations from me, and if it was the white/green/black cw, well then, how could you not? Totally irresistible!!!!

I agree and that's the color I have and treasure.

Thank you all for your kind words.
Maybe your purchase will help keep someone employed for another week. Inventory sitting on a shelf doesn't pay salaries.
Thank you for reminding me of that. I actually bought it from the webshop of a local second hand store and they sent a nice card with it so I think they must have appreciated the purchase.

It is a beautiful design. i have always admired the pink colorway on a coworker. When I saw the teal/blue gold with purple and pink highlights I played around with the image in my wardrobe app and felt that it actually was pretty unique and would go with almost everything. So I guess it wasn't pure impulse, I made sure that it would work first.

Thank you. I guess it's a souvenir from a weird time in all of our lives.

You lovely people all stay save and healthy!!:heart::heart:

I misread this initially, and saw just sweet seller, and thought ”ooh, sweeties, I’d kill for some Haribo right now!”

I totally get this. I nearly jumped for joy when I saw that my country’s website was featuring more stock. From reading this thread I realize that the world of H gives me a sense of comfort and control that I don’t really have in my life at the moment-I work in allied health/rehab. There’s at least 2-3 scarves that I want but I’ve told myself I’ll only purchase the ones I know my home store will not receive. We’ll see how that goes! I might have to change my poll response to “I have a problem!”

I just bought my first scarf last month. My best friend is getting married and I wanted to buy her something nice she’d never buy for herself. She loves scarves, and I recently learned of Hermes scarves but had never seen one in person. So... they were beautiful. Of course. And the shop had designs from past years too (not that we knew the difference). While we were picking out her perfect scarf - Brides Fleuries in white/pastel pink - I happened to find the perfect scarf for me and couldn’t resist. Les Artisans d’Hermes in red/pale blue. I was obsessed with Mulan growing up (I know I know, Chinese vs Japanese) and the female samurai riding a motorcycle horse did me in. I’ve been wearing it every day, mostly as a head scarf so I don’t worry about damaging it, and because it shows off the samurai.

So, that’s not the problem. The problem is... I’ve since purchased several other scarves that I absolutely can’t afford. How do you stop yourself?

And I end up not even liking most of them. I wish I knew better which colors looked good on me that I also enjoy, because I apparently suck at picking colors online. I suppose that makes it easier to return them. I think I would spend less if I limited myself to only buying ones I can try on first and forcing myself to make the 3 hour drive.

Is there a limit to how many scarves you can return on the official hermes site? Do you get flagged as a bad customer?

A lot of the scarves I purchased used/vintage as well, which I can’t return... where’s the best place to resell vintage scarves? What about scarves from the past 10 years?

some reading for you, who is reading is not shopping...

Thank you HoneyLocks! I'm reading through these threads.
I also love your quote signature - I need to take it to heart

Ah Honeylocks! My silk purchasing has slowed, and I feel I’ve found what works for me, but mistakes have yet to be rehomed. I have also swapped a silk addiction for leather, and that’s even more expensive...!

I would say though, I’ve enjoyed the chase for each and every scarf, and if you don’t get that spark of joy then maybe (just maybe) there’s something else which needs to be addressed... not a judgment, an observation.

I just replied to something else, I am happy with my things, the only scarf that got rehomed was a Hermesmatic mistake (I could not stand the yellow)

Oof, definitely more expensive to switch to leather. And I know what you mean. I’m think the underlying issue is mostly being cooped up and stressed out. Finding Les Artisans was such a bright wonderful moment, and I was trying to generate more of that feeling. There’s a difference between finding something beautiful and finding something that’s me. Plus, the more I have of something, the less meaningful each individual piece is.
