I am so thrilled to be joining this thread today with my very first H scarf! I purchased this Jardin a Sintra silk beauty yesterday in the rouge/bleu/vert cw and I am so excited to wear it today. My lovely SA showed me this simple technique for folding, but I am also excited to play with the book of cards he gave me to learn more variations.

I have a transformed scarf to share. I bought an old cw of Sangles quite deliberately about a year ago. It was the very first H scarf I ever saw, back when I was an awkward teen in Hawaii. I remember walking along Waikiki with my BFF, who has always been a sophisticated beauty, and we came upon a billboard that showed a picture of this scarf just fluttering in the wind.
I turned to my friend and said, "That is just hideous. I don't understand the point of scarves!"

Obviously, I had no idea what I was talking about. I bought this scarf to remind myself of the old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

(Believe it or not, I had a similar moment with Birkins after that episode of Sex in the City aired many years ago - "ugh, I don't understand the appeal of Birkins. They're not very pretty." I am a self-admitted dolt!)

Now, even with this all said, this cw was just OK. Here's what it looked like in its original state:

Lots o' primary colors. I didn't reach for it much. Then Hermesmatic blew into town and after one dip in denim blue, it looked like this:IMG_2409.JPG

Ooh, so much nicer! But I was curious about what another dip in violet would do, so back it went. The folks at Hermesmatic were incredibly obliging. Now it looks like this:

I'm very, very happy with this experiment!

Congratulations on your first H scarf purchase. I'm sure you already know that H scarves are a delightful and dangerous hobby... it simply isn't possible to own just one. :graucho:
Your Jardin a Sintra looks fabulous on you. Have fun using the cards to learn all the different knotting variations!

Wow - you have really made it more modern Joannadyne. It is so much softer looking and pleasing on the eye. Loved your story too.

Congratulation on your first carré! It is so beautiful in this colourcombo.

It looks quite wonderful with the light blue cardi (which I would have said was grey... but perhaps that's just my laptop monitor!). The lighter color "darkens" the pattern on the scarf, and since the pattern is so dramatic, I see this as a plus.
OT, but what do you think of the Brora cardigans? I live in cashmere cardigans all winter long here on the Central Coast, and I'm always looking for a new brand. Right now I'm in the market for one in the perfect shade of ice-pink... not too short, not too long, not too lightweight, but not ultra-thick. :coolio:
I have several and have been quite happy. FYI they now have a us website with much higher prices. I either have bought when in London, or buy off the U.K. Website. Shipping is quite fast to California. Read the descriptions carefully. They sell light, medium, and heavier weights. I have had some pilling at first, but after a few washes, that seems to calm down. The colors are often heathery, rather than flat color.

Well done, Joanna!

Honesty is good! That is the purpose of this week, is it not? And before I start sounding like Yoda, I have to agree with your assessment totally. My unused mid-brown scarves are proof of it. I think mid-tones do not suit me. I have a blue Correspondence which I never reach for. It's a middling sort of blue. I find that I do reach for powder blue or dark navy. I do much better with clear tones. I've branched out into neon and I'm going to try jewel bright some day.

And now, for the Support Group, I give you Big Gold Thing with Wide Gold Border
Lots of gold in both but Tahiti ties with plenty of cream showing, and Rouages has lovely intricate detailing. So they are very wearable. Albert isn't getting these from me :p I have Rouages in another cw, big gold centre with green & navy border. The big gold thing barely shows in a bias fold.

These look lovely on themselves and worn! Don't worry about donating to Albert - he'll be gasping for breath once I've finished bestowing him in golds

Oh wow! This is gorgeous.

That is capital! Turquoise is a no-fly zone for me too, but it's possible that good old Albert sitting there on his giant gold bottom can pull it off. Not much revenge for us after all, maybe, but I think I might forgive gold all its insults if I could see that Scythians exhibition. I envy you enormously. Do report back, especially on the bling, will you please?

Sure will report back Bel - in the meantime you can tempt yourself by looking at the ads on the BM website! Ideally I should have bought and worn Les Cavaliers d'Or to present a Scarf on Site, but I simply can't bring myself to buy another goldie

SOTD - Washington's Carriage bandana. I'm not loving this bandana as much as I hoped to. The silk is very heavy and the white just too bright for my taste. I don't mind it so much tucked into a black v-neck sweater but tied like this, with the tails swinging, I'm feeling "meh" on this purchase.

I do like the look.
But a suggestion if you are brave: throw it into the washing machine and then into the dryer: it will be velvety soft and the white might get just a bit muted ;-)
Trust me, I wear the bandanas when cycling, they like to go swimming
