This is such a terrific theme and your posts so well illustrate how we can get an idée fixe about a certain scarf ; either a negative one as here, or total opposite as getting an obsession ( we all know how that feels!]
I didn't like the pink Gala laid flat too much until I saw it with the brown tweed and the red.
I personally love the warm brown with it as the softness complements the softness of the scarf.
But red is amazing ! It says pzazz and confident chic to me .
Another point, why not just twist around the neck and tie the tails at the back , it will be wonderful that way.
I don't wear pink myself but really enjoy seeing it worn well as you do!

Why thank you dear frou frou. Yes, it is beginning to make some sense to me now. It didn't work at all with the black (cool) or the bright pink (also cool) cardi, or even my light gray wool dress (also cool), but it is working much better with warmer colors. And since I don't own very many warmer colors, it's been sitting in a box! As I mentioned earlier, it's not that I don't like the design or the colors, I think it's beautiful. I must've just subconsciously known something wasn't right and all of you have helped me begin to figure out what that is. We'll see how it looks tomorrow with the navy and silver Mors ring. Definitely on the cool side, but it may still work.

And I am so pleasantly surprised by the red. I didn't even think of it. I just threw the first coat I found on (I was running late after taking the time to take and post the pic!) and looked down as I was walking down the pathway to the car and thought "Hey! I think I like this with red!" And I do. A happy accident.

Of course, none of this fixes the fact that I just don't think it ties well, and that the border is too wide.[/QUOTE]
I was surprised I liked with the red! Brilliant serendipity

Thanks for choosing my outfit for me today eagle. [emoji4]

So what do we think? Better. Not sure so will wear the day and see....

Little voice told me that silver Mors and brown tweed don’t “go” so will try again and with navy blue tomorrow. Have never tried with dark violet either, Ksuromax, but I will.

All my others just seem to work whatever I throw on. Or maybe I’m deluding myself.

Eagle was SPOT ON. This looks great with your tweed jacket, Pirula! And YASSSS to the red, too!

Ha, cheers to those of you who love the cherubs. :flowers: For me what I love is the main image, which is all elegant adults, dressed elegantly and adultly, and ... adulting elegantly. Tie it and what do I get? Squirmy nekkid babies.

 I guess that is what piques my "quirky" sense. I bet you could do a bias fold and slide a scarf ring down to the center then tie the ends behind you to hide the cherubs. (I'm thinking like Elaine's post yesterday with Giverny to hide the borders.)

Beautiful. We are sisters. :drinks:

Thanks pearlsnjeans! Yes do please post the twillies.

Right! And that's the problem with a lot of ties, they hide the design (and the cherubs) too much. Forget about showing off the lovely ladies in red coats, SIGH!

What is a Bellagio knot please?

The warmer pink is unusual, especially for me. Again, if I reduce volume I reduce the design elements even more. Maybe I should just let that go. I'm glad you think it's flattering, that is a good reason to keep it!

It is definitely red, not coral.

Very pretty!

Thanks cookiefiend!

Precisely! I would frame the thing, but as those who followed the art discussion on the Friends thread know, I am out of wall space.

Working on it. I'll try to do a pic with a 90. Here it is in a 70. You have to make an extra adjustment with a couple of spare knots to take up fabric on a 90 so the drape is better.

View attachment 3891681 Here's my outlier: a "Plumes" mousseline gavroche. I never reach for it. I don't keep my "mistakes"; I sell them and tell myself they're going to good homes! And I'm selective, so my mistakes are pretty rare: usually it's a pattern I love in the wrong colorway for me. When I can get my hands on the right one, I sell its predecessor. But this little one is not sale-able. I paid next to nothing, had to wash it, and one of the corners is unraveling. No one would buy it, so it languishes in my scarf box. I'm glad I pulled it out for this week's theme (challenge?); maybe I'll wear it more now!

Oh- I love Plumes (almost the only Linares I do like) but the major amounts of white space would not like me at all so I feel your pain! If you have any other gav sized moussies, they look nice twirled together.....

Here's one of my "problem" child scarves. An ethereal pink mousseline gavroche with gold horses. Thought this pink would be no problem on me, since it is fairly warm. But it just blends in to my skin all the time and feels "blah". Plus, I have a larger 90 in beautiful glowing burgundy and cherry tones and I have found I just don't really like having duplicates of things since that's makes them "compete" for my attention, and I'll invariably choose the one I like better to wear over the one I like less....(with one exception- Pique Fleuri since I have 2 gavroche size, and am totally ok with that!)

With white....

Trying to contrast it with yellow to match the gold horses...pinkcomos.jpeg

It seems best suited to blending with other pocket squares...

I like the last look best!

While we're on the subject of orange, which I do like when it's paired with the right colors:
Premieres Mains by Zoé Pauwels [1990 design with reissues]
View attachment 3890944
I've talked about this scarf before, how I chose it for the center designs and ignored the orange, then tried every way I could to hide the border (despite the fact that the contrast hem is lavender!) It's a kind of a love-it-or-hate-it scarf, I find.
Then I found it in another color, and the blue border and peach hem goes much better with what I wear...but it's a little dull compared to the other one (probably the brown/beige center)

I'm pretty happy with the blue, but I kind of miss that lavender contrast hem -- again, the two-point knot to the rescue:

Maybe I'm not quite ready to give either of them up...

Oh! That scarf in orange is beautiful! I love the pattern / subject and that colorway looks beautiful on you.

I really like this scarf - Sieste au Paradis - but... I have a few issues with it.
It has a very large white and gray center and an extremely orange side. I don’t like the center against my skin because I think it makes me look like the walking dead, and the orange side is - well - really bright.
I think I need ideas on folding it?

What if you put it under the collar? Not next to your skin, not too close to the face, with a bit of a "border" in between it might work better for you?

I have trouble with the stark whites too (except in mousseline).

I think you reined it in pretty well ABQ in that second pic! Very nice!

The details are so amazing on it, I agree to try it with deeper russet tones to bring those out.

I like this Giverny folded this way. And because the shirt you are wearing comes past the scarf, the yellow is played down since it is not right next to your skin.

Oh- that is that red that looks really atrocious on me! Love the scarf, but can't do that particular red.....I think it looks great with the striped shirt!

I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. This is a hard yellow to carry off, but against the blue shirt it is lovely!

I wonder how this would look against one of the paler shades in the scarf???

These multi pastel hues are also hard to wear, I think. There's a CW of Coupons Indiennes that has similar ice cream shades that I know would be a bear to wear. I wonder if contrasting against a shirt in a darker shade of something in the scarf would work for it?

Hi Bunnycat! You know, I have never thought of that. Other than white, I only tried with light denim shirt. I don't have pink or tan stuff, but will look at other light colors on the scarf as reference. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks everyone!

Ooooh bunnycat I like this!

Just a quick visit in answer to @eagle1002us - I am still around! I have not posted for a while because I haven’t bought any new H scarves for ages and also my small collection has really had enough airing. There really are limits to posting the same scarves over and over again.

I am also seriously ill now and getting worse. I only manage to leave the house once a week if I am lucky and mostly stay in bed. I do post on my blog and Instagram regularly, though. My present obsession is with growing out my dyed hair and embracing the grey now that I am 61. It has been cut short and I am documenting the changes .

Here is my “not really sure” scarf: Au Coeur de la Vie. I bought this colourway as I loved the colours of the plants and animals. But the bright yellow border is almost a neon shade! I also don’t care for the very centre. If I manage to tie it right, then it looks OK, especially with navy on a Summer’s day. This is an old archive photo so it is a bit blurry...

I'm very sorry to you're not well, puts all my problems into proper perspective.

We obviously share a similar taste in scarves as I'm your tropical/Neon CdlV twin. At first I was just going to hang it on the wall it seemed so bright but I tried it and DH told me how much he loved it on me. That made me think totally differently about it including bright yellow. I can't remember what else I was wearing, probably navy. Anyway, I think this actually looks amazing so don't be scared of it, maybe bias fold thinly and wear a slice of tropical heaven.
