Brazil is a design with which I've had no luck. One is a Brazil II 90. The colours of the feathers are glorious, but there is so much blank space in the design and on the borders that it is quite difficult to tie without showing wide expanses of chocolate brown. I'm not giving up on it yet...

The other Brazil is a pareo. The US seller took her photos under a warm orange light which totally changed the cw of the cotton. The mauve and green practically vanished. It looked mainly butter yellow and tangerine orange. I could have done a SNAD but it cost too much to ship it back. And the feigned ignorance of her replies to my messages led me to believe that she wasn't an honest seller and I would be asking for trouble if I did a return. So yes, a confirmed candidate for re-homing once I actually take the time to figure out how to sell it (or maybe I'll just go the consignment route).
The problems I have with it: I'm not a fan of the muddy mauve background colour, the mauve-viridian-yellow-orange colour palette is out of my comfort zone, and since I prefer smaller formats, if I'm going to manhandle swathes of material, the extra effort should be for a cw I actually like. That said, this is my SOTD since I decided that I should actually wear it again to see if there are any redeeming factors.

Cripes. I love that Pareo on you. [emoji177]

Just a quick visit in answer to @eagle1002us - I am still around! I have not posted for a while because I haven’t bought any new H scarves for ages and also my small collection has really had enough airing. There really are limits to posting the same scarves over and over again.

I am also seriously ill now and getting worse. I only manage to leave the house once a week if I am lucky and mostly stay in bed. I do post on my blog and Instagram regularly, though. My present obsession is with growing out my dyed hair and embracing the grey now that I am 61. It has been cut short and I am documenting the changes .

Here is my “not really sure” scarf: Au Coeur de la Vie. I bought this colourway as I loved the colours of the plants and animals. But the bright yellow border is almost a neon shade! I also don’t care for the very centre. If I manage to tie it right, then it looks OK, especially with navy on a Summer’s day. This is an old archive photo so it is a bit blurry...

Here is a photo from Spring this year...

Eagle here. Glad to see you're still kicking, Hermes Hope. If I remember correctly doesn't that scarf have a seed in the center? IMO, it looks great on you. The neon "jaune vif" is one of my fav colors and has been in fashion for a while now. I hope you can get used to the bright yellow b/c with the blues, it looks great on you.

I am a bit older than you. My hair is graying, too and I haven't dumped any coloring on it just to see how much it changes my appearance. I have thin, baby fine hair which is usually pulled back, so not much of it shows. Because of that I'll look pretty much the same as I do now. Which is good b/c I don't want to change my wardrobe colors.

The scarves for the new season should show up soon so I hope to see you modeling once again!

Well here’s mine. I love the design and it has sentimental value due to its Opera Garner theme. But...

The pink feels too sweet and the hits of brown, orange and red don’t cut the sweetness.

It never ties nicely, you can never see the pretty bits enough.

I now have the pink Pegase which is more sophisticated so I reach for it when I want pink.

Looks better on the bed than it does on me.

Does she stay or does she go? Perhaps try harder. Can’t remember last time I wore it:

Would that look good with a brown tweed jacket?

I find the subject of this week's scarf viewing to be pretty funny on a personal level. I have buried the ones I don't wear so far down I would need a backhoe to find them in order to take a picture. There is really nothing wrong with any of them except that I don't wear them. The problem is not really that they don't look good on me, but is more of an issue of not wearing the colored clothing required to showcase them. 3 out of 4 are in the brown family and I just never reach for brown. I did try to sell one of them, and even pristine at a reasonable price, it did not move so I concluded that that people don't like to wear brown all that much.

What a very sweet compliment CoffeeSLP, thank you!

You know I never noticed how that cardigan pink and the Soirée pink “clash” until tonight! Never again.

But the color itself is I think fine on me. But by way of comparison, I reach for this regularly. I think it proves your point:

Welcome all the comments. You’re all helping me give this one a real chance!
Oooooh, gorgeous! Swoon! And perfectly paired! But that still seems like a cooler, stronger pink to me. And, wow, your lipstick choices are always so very on point!

So true! I buried mine too, and yes, there's a lot of mid-brown shades in the burial site. The challenge this week is unearthing that which I would prefer to forget.

I'm having such a giggle about this. I've got one poor battered silky soul I am guilty of doing this too as well. I just leave it tied up and hanging near my dresser. Today I finally relented (in honor of this week of course)and unknotted it and washed it.

Lovely! I’m a fan of the Mors ring too!!

Thank you! It's a favorite for sure!

I’m thinking that we should open an orphanage for these poor unwanted scarves. Sad to think of the time and effort that went into designing them and that they were born with colors we cannot use or just don’t like anymore in some cases. Perhaps adoption, if possible, is the only answer

Just wanted to say this is a great theme for the week - nice to see how various colors look in real life, and what styling tips you may have. And who knows, perhaps some of these scarves will be given a second chance to shine!

I don't have any 'what was I thinking?' scarves I'm not sure about or don't like, unless you apply it the other way, as in 'what was I thinking? - I should have bought all the cws of La Femme au Semelles du Vents, Zabavushka, Quintessence and Pegase d'Hermes

I go through phases though, but I know I do, so sometimes scarves have to take a rest for a while. I also don't buy many pre-loved unless they really are an HG (including cw) which minimises near-misses or the temptation of a good deal.

Anyway if you can spot it SOTD- yesterday camouflaged in my new velvet floral suit (DH's early Christmas present) Into the Canadian Wild by AS. The black and white photo was not my idea but still better than a selfie by me.

And I like your pink scarf. :drinks:
I'm very fond of candy colours - much to my SA's dismay; she tries hard to educate my palette, but the only sophistication I can muster up is a vintage photo of Hepburn (either one).

Have you tried it on with dark navy/very deep violet? Not black, as it will give a strong emo reference, but dark shades to contrast the soft pink and let it do the solo :flowers:
