Weird! I could see Elaine's pic as an attachment to your quote, but not on it's own.

Very pretty Elaine! Happy T day!
Yep, I noticed that the photo link is "live" in reply quotes. Very weird bug in the system. Assume this is happening in other threads and forums too, because surely we were not the only folks who were "K.O."? Ummm, excuse the pun... it's 7am and I'm jolting on the underground to work.

This is based on a 2-point tie and it's a useful start to a couple of different knots.
Fold the scarf in half, then take one of the corners to make a diagonal fold. (The corner loops are there because the first two pix were taken with the scarf hanging on the wall.)
View attachment 3884295 Hold the new corners and put them behind your head and let the pointed ends hang on your chest. (I left the loops as markers for you, then removed them).
Use a two-hole scarf ring (this is a medium) and run one side of the scarf through one hole, then do the same for the other side. Pull the ends until each scarf corner pulls through.

No tying necessary, just fluff and twist the hems until they look nice (this tie is especially pretty with contrast hems). The scarf ring sits sideways and doesn't move because there is so much silk going through each hole.

Look at how nicely your knot turned out with a CSGM and Hermes MOP shawl ring!

Nope...I don't see anybody's pics from before today....

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I was wearing my special boots (YSL- an anniversary gift from a couple of years ago) so I did a full mod shot  because I luvz them so! With Brazil MT. This one almost ended up getting saved for next week's theme....but I've changed my mind again, though it is mostly a fall scarf for me, I think. SOOOO much length to deal with! You may see it repeatedly next week as I struggle to find more than one way to wear it!

I can see your MT! It is gorgeous. Such an elegant turquoise! I'm hunting for the MT of my dreams, but will never be able to wear it as an obi belt as I appear to have lost my waist somewhere.... :p

Thank you xincinsin! Yes- I had to wrap it twice around my neck to shorten the tails enough!

Squick of the Day: Belle Chasse. I like the feathers. I'm hiding the heads in the knot because I find the heads and talons the most disturbing parts :-s

Always love the feathers on these also, and agree with you on the rest....

Thank you everyone for your kind words about my feathered silk friends and/or my mothers health.

Be reassured my mother is sooooo much better, it just took a long time to get her on her feet again.

I hope you all buy traditional Luckenbooths and/or agate brooches and boost Scotland's economy. We're so lucky to have so many wonderful things like tweed, tartan, agate (and lots of other minerals) cashmere, sheepskin, deerskin.... I say this as a total non-native. I just have to find an Hermes Fleurs D'Ecosse of my own, kick, kick, kick.

Perhaps H could like to do a Glasgow special edition :tender:
These questions are pretty lame, I'm sure the answers are all yes, but beyond that I don't know how to track down this kind of merchandise. (Cough). Ok, I'm ready: are there fabric stores in Scotland that sell plaid fabrics electronically and ship overseas? It didn't occur to me to go to a fabric store per se when I was in Edinburgh, altho I think I recall some bolts in a gift shop. I am not looking for a particular plaid, just something that's pretty. Plaids are really scarce here. Are jackets in Harris tweed still made? I haven't see those since the late 70s (when I bought one).

And Irish linen. Was in Cork a decade ago and never thought to look for fabric. I love linen. Our local big-league fabric store used to carry Irish linen and I still wear multiple times a year the skirt I made from it. I should have bought matching fabric for a jacket, it was a medium sea green. Fortunately I found a jacket afterwards. But the quality of the linen was so nice!

Beautiful! Pictures are still "now you see it, now you don't" for me, but I can see yours!
Same problem with scarf tails as I like soups and sauces. Paranoia me takes them off for lunch. And since my folds and knots are mostly of the "live and let live" variety, I sport a different look postprandial:lol:

BTW These KO weeks are bad for me . So far, they have inspired me to buy 4! I used to have zero :crybaby:
I love your Belle Chasse scarf, we're twins. I blobbered a dab of ice cream on the blouse that goes w/my mauve and blue Flowers of S. Africa. The drycleaner takes forever so maybe I'll just use the scarf to cover up the blob.

Glasgow would be perfect for an Arts & Crafts themed scarf. You probably knew this but the movie, The House of Mirth, one of my absolute favs (plus the novel) , was filmed in Glasgow.

Plenty of Harris Tweed jackets in Edinburgh's royal mile. For specialist makers: https://www.harristweed.org/find-tweed/ . For international supplies of cloth etc https://www.harristweedshop.com/ . I like Walker Slater for women's wear https://www.walkerslater.com/ For men's contemporary makers http://21stcenturykilts.com/

Loved your post, Pautinka! I have a Fleurs d'Ecosse in green & orange, I think. I have a lot of books on Victorian jewelry but there is nothing like someone who really knows the history and collects to explain stuff. My prize Scottish agate brooch has a simple design: 3 lobes making up a fan shape. No extraneous metal work. Wore this brooch to Edinburgh and an antique jewelry dealer said it was a representation of the Prince of Wales ostrich feathers. The dealer I got it from in Georgetown a while back did not have much of any interpretation as I remember.
My other agates are small, nothing special, but I do like to see hardstone being used, the colors are pretty.
You''re referring to grouse feathers, right?
Question about cairngorms: sometimes I see these as very orangey (like burnt orange) citrines and sometimes (less often) they are smoky quartz. I am not sure I like the orangey color with the muted agates (maybe I've just seen mediocre examples). Which is the "authentic" color, or are both used?
Scottish agate bracelets are another interesting item. Twenty years ago specialist antique dealers would have a huge table displaying such bracelets. Now, they are HTF -- and I guess the best examples would be in gold. Or are good examples made in silver, like the rest of the SA jewelry?
I passed on getting an antique Luckenbooth in favor of a clan brooch or two b/c I had really never seen them before. (I am not Scottish). Luckenbooths are sometimes called witches hearts if the heart is curved a certain way, right? It's been explained to me what they mean but I forgot. Those are cool.
Dear eagle, sorry to have taken a few days to get back to you. Your brooch sounds incredible and may well be the Prince of Wales feathers. I am with you on the bracelets - I would love to have one but refuse to pay the prices people seem to want these days! Some are absolutely stunning. Re the cairngorms, both are used and I must admit to actually preferring the citrines as they seem more alive. Re the hearts, I must profess ignorance to the fact that they were also known as witches' hearts as I have always known them as luckenbooths. Thanks for the education!
I am always worried about speaking too much OT on TPF and getting my knuckles rapped by a mod, but if you like keeping your eye on Scottish gem jewellery I can send you a couple of links to jewellers here. x
