After all of these sax-y comments, I am thinking about standing on Madison in front of the domestic Mothership tooting the axe with the case open next to me to collect funds for my escape from Ban Island. First, I gotta get the issue of bus fare to The City solved. They probably won't let me play in front of HPV in Dallas (sigh).

Hermesguy, it's not worth losing your law license. Or maybe it is ...

D Lee, this one is for you, courtesy France H.com : Les Clés bleu gris/bleu moyen, flat. Trust my colors, you know that the cws on H.com are not truthful :
Thx Anfang for posting this! This is so stunning! Goes well with my jeans. I have sworn to myself I have to stop getting scarves as my collection is approaching 70 only 17/18 months since I started! But I still intend to get this one if it ever gets reissued in a 90. :p

All my scarves are workhorses as my collection is still quite small. But here is the actual scarf I'm still wearing after my (long) day at work: Point d'Orgue. I bought this scarf to wear with black, but find myself wearing it more and brown with grey, olive green and brown.
OMG! Sophie, you are so pretty that u have distrcted me from appreciation of your beautiful scarf! But I took a second look & just found your scarf very elegant!

Which cw are you contemplating? There are a lot of mod pics on Fall 2012 thread:

I am in love with the softness of my colorway. It's colorful, but still creamy and not too neon bright. The silk hand is wonderfully smooth and velvety, it feels like silkasm when the scarf fondles my neck. (Ooops mods please don't censor my post)

Oooohhhhh, this is such trouble! Another scarf is not in the budget right now, but this is soooooo tempting and there are 3 CWs up on H.com right now. Not good. Ban ban ban.

I have been MIA but admiring all the posts nonetheless. I checked my credit card bill and I have not bought any H scarves for 3 weeks! I think this is the longest drought I have had for 2 years. No kidding. I think I will need to start buying off the website. I just can't get myself motivated to drive all the way to BH.
Oh MYH, pray tell me how u manage to stand the H drought for 3 weeks! That is a marvellous achievement! I am buying slowly now. But am still unable to visit H less than twice/month! OMG! I am now branching out into H leather goods as well. This is truly a road of no return!

A few of my workhorses. My most used scarf in cooler weather is my first GM - the pink Kelly en Caleche. It has a few runs and is piling but it is so easy to match and wear.
The others are 90 cm Fleurs Indiennes, ACSMC and Pegase.
Maedi,
Love your workhorse scarves, especially your ACSMC. Such a classic! Love the way u tied it too!

Nana, nico, Anfang, Sophieg, DLee - thanks so much!

Ms piggy, I could easily succumb to more color ways of ACdlV. Which ones are you considering other than 15? The fuchsia is amazing, too!

DLee- here is the recipe for staying away from the h boutique:

Step 1 - move your house 3000 miles away due to a new job
Step 2 - move to a new town where you don't even know where to go for dry cleaning or a hair cut and get lost just going to your local grocery store
Step 3 - try to organize repairs on your old house from 3000 miles away
Step 4 - spend all day looking for a new house to purchase and making lists of all the remodeling that needs to be done to houses on your top 3 list
Step 5 - move to a town where the nearest H boutique is likely 1.5 hours each way in traffic

Voila! No scarf buying for 3 weeks!

Anfang - I have yet to buy a DD but have been steadily looking for one because of you!

Posting two of my workhorses, both CSGMs unsurprisingly given the chilly climate!

First one is Sequences, one of my first shawls and from the Men's section no less. The second one is LdR that just works with everything. Please excuse the messy knots, after a long day at work I don't really care how they end up.

Nico- black, grey and white is always a workhorse winner. I can see why these are your go-to scarves. Thanks for sharing

MYH, D Lee - Sorry to keep you guys waiting. Here are the steps of this cozy knot:

1) Fold the scarf into a triangle

2) Fold about 3-4 inches:

Fold another layer

3) Put on your head like a head scarf, with two ends cross in the front

4) Tie two ends behind the neck with two simple knots

5) Wrap the scarf corner around the knot done above:

6) Drop the hood down

7) turn the back to the front 180 degrees or 90 degrees, depending on which part you want to show in front of your neck. Voila!

Pros: no fold wrinkles, able to show details located at/near the center of the scarf
Cons: bulky and too cozy for warmer days.

Many thanks to Mr. Teddy Bear!

Chestnutty- despite your detailed instructions, I still managed to make a mess of this knot when I tried today. I will persevere as your scarf student and post a pic when I think I have finally got it.

I love the work horse theme. Such a sensible one!

Here's one of my two work horses. This is Passiflores.

(Can you tell it's still wintry around here?)

Oh, this is gorgeous. Love the way you tied it.

In honor of April's fool (April's fish in France: kids hang paper fish on the back of people), I'm wearing Rencontre océane, mousseline GM. I twisted the basic bias fold because it was bulky, and made a criss-cross knot with my plastic salmony-pink-ish belt-buckle-as-ring.

Melora - I vote you as the most clever scarfie when it comes to scarf rings on tPF.

Oh my gosh!! Pegase, this cw was not released in the States or I would have pounced on it and oddly, the apricot cw was ghastly on me too. I was so excited to see it---it glows in luminosity, but ackkkk on this face. Maedi, have you tried it? It has to make someone around her glow!!

94107, you look DARLING and I love the post from an airport bathroom--like our precious Tanker Toad's posts.

nana, what a regal scarf. I admire it on evilbay often but have never seen one irl. Amazing on your gorgeous neck.

sophieg, as Pegase said, I miss your sweet smile also. Come on, drape a silk on and give us a curly smile.

Silkies, I have come over to the blue side--slowly but truly. This moussie is the first and only silk my dh has bought for me and since I have worn it (according to my spreadsheet) the most of all my silks--I declare it my work horse. (yuck--sorry about straggly hair)

Sparkle - I love that your workhorse is bright! It seems like many of us fall into two categories. Those with black/white/gray cws and others with bright blue cws for workhorses!

Still one of my two most loved and worn H scarves. This was well worn when I bought it , so I have no qualms about wearing it wherever , whenever . It's very tough and hasn't complained at all .

Brins d'Or GM cashmere

Frou frou- you look ravishing in this cw of brin d'or. I can only dream of getting my hands on an oldie GM that is tough and doesn't pill. I think I will put this design on my ebay hunt list all because of your picture.

Nana, nico, Anfang, Sophieg, DLee - thanks so much!

Ms piggy, I could easily succumb to more color ways of ACdlV. Which ones are you considering other than 15? The fuchsia is amazing, too!

Maedi love your choices of the workhorses. Twins with the ASCMC. As to ACdlV, cw 21 and the fuchsia have captured my heart too. Since I hardly wear 90s, I thought combining the 15 and 21 as a giant scarf would make it more wearable (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol). And the fuchsia cw isn't really as bright as I anticipated, the colours are on it are just so so pretty!

Hey sophieg, we're twinsies on the point d'orgue in aubergine. I must play with the colors you mention as alternatives to the plummy colors I reach for first. Good goin' girl!
sophieg, eagle1002us, do I need to tell you that made a good choice because Point d'orgue is the best design ever? ;)

I think mine would qualify as a workhorse: I wore it everyday after Christmas till end of January. Then I washed it and thought it would be best not to wear the same scarf two days in a row. But it still is my favorite :)
I definitely need to prepare an Ode to it with pictures of real organs!

3000 miles is nothing, I'm moving 5740 miles away ;)

As a matter of fact, I think the distance isn't as annoying as the timezone difference: 9 hours for us. Business hours start at 6pm!
