I love hearing that, BritAbroad! We are twins! I too am a fan of old MS of all sorts...for their calligraphy, their illuminations, and even their early examples of music notation...so beautiful.

Do you have any H scarves that reflect this love of yours?

Be still my  ! All right up my alley... I was initially drawn to strong equestrian H scarves/shawls but you've inspired me to hunt down some nostalgic historical themes that I hadn't associated with H. If you have any medieval suggestions I'm all ears rosemonde.

Many thanks Rosamunde, Birkinmary, cherryblossom,Lanit ,momasorus for your kind words .
Rosamunde I'm bowled over by how lovely your Paladin looks and found the lilac tones still managed to stand out within the complex design. I love that inner border too .
I do find most of my older scarves very formal and find the very plain wide borders of old diifficult to play with , this one is perfect.

Melora Nice scarf necklace looking very fresh , and it's reminding me to revisit that these warm days .

Bova Love your gavroches and agree they are the most fun ! Festival is so good in gavroche format and I love your fuschia c'way.
Thanks froufrou, and I agree I do enjoy Festival in the gavroche format, I use it a lot!!

One interesting medieval scarf is A la gloire de Guilliaume (William the Conqueror), a sort of Bayeux Tapestry homage. But there is actually a Tapisserie de Bayeux listed that is quite mysterious. There's a scarf called Le Moyen Age (The Middle Ages), but the architecture looks more Tudor.

Chocs en Plumes has a bunch of knights on horseback, with striped backgrounds, which is more interesting than the solitary knight in Les Muserolles. There's a fabulous Mont Sanct Michel scarf that is really hard to find.

The Three Musketeers is not exactly medieval but has some cool artwork. La vie a cheval and Armeria are medieval themed, and Termes de Venerie shows a medieval stag hunt in really cool rosettes.

Rosamonde might know more about these.

IThe green details on this scarf are a perfect match with my bamboo CDC, however, they completely disappear when the scarf is folded on the bias. So I would really appreciate if more experienced scarf wearers could sugggest a tying method that would highlight the grass green parts of the scarf. Many thanks in advance.

I so know all about the magical part of an H scarf disappearing! I think most of the older designs suffer from this, H just didn't seem to think it was an issue that the boring old border and acres of white were all one saw when tied in the traditional way . At least they have now come to a realisation, and we have delicious borders, contrast hems , goodbye white interior, and more all-over designs .
So how to tie your scarf ?
I think you need to think of a more asymmetric fold to start : try with a slightly off diagonal fold to make a triangle , than fold inwards checking the bits you want are still visible on the right side ...if not rough up the fold a bit . The neater the fold the more they will disappear!
Also visit MaiTai blog and check out the asymmetric shoulder wrap, weave knot, and cowboy knot . if you're brave try the scarf as top under a jacket or make a little jacket of the scarf [ she will have a post for that too!}

Let us know your findings, best of luck!

You might try some rectangular folds to make a short cross, or even just a shawl collar effect. I do this all the time when I am lazy or don't have enough space to make a decent bias fold. You can adjust the rectangle to include pretty much whatever section has the colours you want to highlight. Also MaiTai has a necklace idea here: http://www.maitaispicturebook.com/2013/07/How-to-highlight-scarf-design.html
Hope you are inspired to show some green grass!

Thank you, cherryblossom. These classical designs come up on eBay and other resale sites; keep looking!

More from d'Origny: L'instruction du roi 90 and Festival gavroche. I posted these already in my top 5, I think, so here are some fun archival shots.
