Hello, dear Scarfies! I am flying back to Cape Cod today and look forward to catching up on all the thoughtful posts about everyone's rules and "dos and don'ts" as I travel. Many thanks to @Agrume for her always wonderful hostessing and examples! I will say that over the years I have had what I consider to be more a set of organizing principles than rules, and even those have been honored more in the breach than in the application. I seem to always break out of Ban Island, too. :graucho: Buy what you love is the best rule!

I am off topic today, but I thought I'd share what I wore the past several days:
Tulipomanie GT in three different ways-- this has convinced me that this piece is a fantastic travel option! It goes with anything...

70 Aloha Dip Dye in a new-to-me cw and Ors Bleu d'Afrique, a second cw for me and a real "bargoon" from last winter. I took a chance on this one and I am very happy that I did. It was perfect for a live music event (and I did wear my cowgirl boots)!

And for a benefit dinner and concert, I wore my beautiful Acinonyx Jubatus, 140 washed silk.

The weather has been gorgeous, the jasmine is in bloom and the rain mostly held off-- a perfect southern spring weekend...and now, back to real life and its demands...
Wow — all of these are stunning!

Good morning!!

Trial and error have made one rule for me which I try and follow: stick to known formats which I know how to wear.

But time and again Something cute at a good price lure me from my principles. And on arrival teach me that the rule was there for a reason.

Examples of ‘adventure purchases’:

Duck or rabbit 45x45 - too small for me to tie but adorable
IMG_0739.webp
Triangle Tiger Royal - also adorable, but did I need more light pink scsrves?
IMG_0738.webp
Jersey silk triangle - feels like whipped cream but nearly impossible to tie
IMG_0742.webp
Maxi twilly. And an addition to our Brazil examples. I love all that silk, but where do I put it?
IMG_0741.webp
And - as this was the last I tried on - this is my sotd. A 70x70 Savanna dance. Also a bit small but Lovely colors and good when it is a hot day - and today looks like it is going to be

Wish you a nice square 90x90 day!!!

Hello and good morning,
I have no problem at all with buying several cw of the same design. First, if I love a design and it has been issued in many attractive cw, I often like to have more than one. And then, I don't believe that anybody I cross could distinguish and assign different cw to the same design. Other than you scarfies of course who see it at first glance!😄 I have had this twin Phoenix with Croisette7 for quite a few years and bought another one in an auction last week. No bargain, however. 😬 Brought it to the dry cleaner's this morning, so here's only yesterday's draping shot. And tried my classic one with a jacket yesterday, a quite formal look, and with my suede shirt today. It looks perhaps best with my mint green cardigan which I'm too lazy to dig out, sorry. 🫣1000022653.webp1000022655.webp1000022760.webp

So happy you could get it, darkstar! I have MP in many colors and formats, like our xincinsin. The design is so beautiful.

Every once in a while I tell myself I do not need any more blue scarves in any size, format or design. But, but, but. Blue is always a temptation for me, and even when I have acquired a grail design in a grail cw, I am not immune to adding a blue! Here's the most recent example: Les Oiseaux des Champs et des Bois. This blue treasure joined my gorgeous black one because, well, it's blue and also, as @Teaforparrots would say: BIRDS, BIRDS, BIRDS.
Oiseaux de C&B.webp
And while I was at it, I decided to channel Parker Posey's look in the recent season of White Lotus. I think it looked cool but without magnets or some other way to secure the scarf from slipping it was pretty unstable! Fun to play around though!

Hat tip to @sdsurfchick for my "birds on a wire" scarves.

I’m with you - no issues with duplicates at all although actually I don’t feel like I have a lot.

These are both gorgeous. The vividness of that first one is sooo appealing. I can’t really pull off those colors but I wish I could.

Beautiful colors!!! This reminds me of a scarf I’m looking at on Pmark right now.

It is just so beautiful the way you pick up the gorgeous railing color with your sweater @CoastalCouture. Hope you had a fun dinner...
The Acinonyx J is beautiful beyond words and makes for a fab ensemble. I think we’re Aloha dd twins. This was a short visit. Safe travels.
No real rules for me, preferably no modern weapons or hurting animals. Loving nature, horses, flowers, animals and anything tied to a memory or interest. It’s mostly an emotional affair.
Voie lactée today inspired by @Redbirdhermes albeit in opposite coloration.

Gorgeous @Maedi. @Redbirdhermes inspired me to add this design as well. This one makes you look radiant. It was a short visit. Had a chance to hear some amazing jazz/klezmer/spiritual and go dancing to a truly fun group called Chapel Hart-- they had the room rocking for almost two hours! Thank you for your kind words.
Wow — all of these are stunning!
Thank you so much @AnnaE -- I am smiling because I think that black/white/red Ors Bleu d'Afrique would be darling on you!

Interesting "experiments" @HermesEchidna. Jersey was not a success for me either and I limited my Maxi Twilly to one (small pointu as well). I have also one each of the MT "Cut" (shorter) and one of the MT "Slim" (longer but less voluminous). Very envious of your Savana Dance-- I would love to add that cw to my bright one!

Congratulations @darkstar66. Very beautiful addition.
So beautiful @Croisette7! I am working on adding this design myself. I have only the new little 70 dipdye and I am in the hunt for a 90 as well. Love the pueple and yellow coloration...

Your rules are structured and speak to a self-awareness and sensibility that will serve you well @FA73

One more voice to add to the ‘chorus of keep’ for your cavaliers. This is such a rich, glowing orange, made unique with the lavender detail. The design has a lot going on, but I don’t find it ‘busy’ on you - it’s well balanced and ties like a dream. A statement piece might ‘stick out’ in an otherwise orderly collection, but every wardrobe/collection needs one; it serves a purpose and isn’t meant to ‘fit’ with the others 😉

And, if you believe in signs, a 200 day round trip could be a sign that it was meant to stay with you
Thank you dear @Lellabelle, my Cavaliers has precious fairy godmothers and your advice is very much valued.
And you are right, I believe in signs and am usually able to rehome scarves pretty fast. The fact that this one stayed and seemingly waited patiently for me to change my mind is surely a sign!

My first Regina happened to be the special edition issued for Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee in 2002. I later purchased the same scarf in red.

After learning more about the design and it's many reissues, I exchanged my later issue red Regina for an original issue red Regina. The scarves themselves looked the same. But I'm enough of a nerd that way.

Original issue from 1972 red Regina is my scarf of the day.

This Brazil Detail is a bit of a rule breaker, as it has very prominent borders. But I love the borders (even tho I am hiding them here).

Fab outfit. 👍👍👍
It's been a busy few days and there's no let up in sight till the weekend. My rules are pretty general.

  1. Don't buy anything I will not or cannot wear. Only choose colours which are flattering.
  2. It's ok to buy something to go with one only one outfit, especially if I spent 80-100 hours making it.
  3. I absolutely love contrast hems.
  4. I'm open to sizes; right now trying to build my CSGMs and GTs.
  5. If it's been a long time since wearing or I've fallen out of love, move it on. Except for Coeur de la Vie, keep this one forever because it goes with a Chanel style jacket made from fabric I bought in Paris.
  6. I generally stay away from wide borders, white borders and backgrounds.
  7. I stay away from icky subject matter but . . . .
Rules are just guidelines and sometimes you can override them. Maybe it's just icky in one corner? Bottes, I'm talking about you! Acquired just yesterday in Boston. I suppose you can call it my SOYD.

Oh this is lovely on you, @CoastalCouture. And I can see it getting lots of wear, with similar colours (but a very different design and scale) to your beautiful Botanica. Is the snake the ick-factor?

Great picture, too 🙂

Congratulations on your new phoenix! The purple and orange combo is yummy.

Haha - it is exactly this precision that we appreciate, dear @Redbirdhermes
Love the pearls, too.
