@Cordeliere I loved your honest and hilarious post today. I too am on the selfie struggle bus and it takes me like 10-12 attempts to get it right. I then try to crop it to death to make it look better. I didn’t crop this one in solidarity with you, and it’s not my best or fave. RIP to the 🍒 sweater in this throwback pic of sadly what was the only other time I put on Jaguar Quetzal.

First a nod to @Cordeliere - as a child I always heard from my mother ’that’s not a real smile’ when my dad would take photos (and he wasn’t a pro but took forever to snap a pic, and always trying to have the sun behind him so there was a lot of squinting too). So I share your aversion to the camera. But ding dang 73?! You look at least 20 years younger than that!

@Jereni your scarves are delightful! All have such bright and happy colors (and the smiling sun in Helios!)

@Redbirdhermes your Gene Kelly is quite fun - dancing always brings a smile!

@scarf1 fantastic hem on Promenade and Jan Bajtlik’s early designs are so delightfully whimsical

@AnnaE you always look smashing in red whether it’s a current season or a classic

@Karenska Animapolis is one of those scarves that seems to fit any theme (and twins on this colorway)! And your whole collection of scarves and pins are amazing. Love your and @Croisette7 teddy bears too - I got my first one when I was 19 (still have him but no longer sleep with it )

@MabelJo sisters on Nuage! That’s another scarf that can fit just about any theme

@HermesEchidna chickens are always crazy and that’s a crazy good looking scarf on you (and love your earrings). Magnets will be a game changer!

@violetkool gorgeous twilly and will have to play with my CdA with them! Super Silk Quest is a great design for any format and glad that @LKBNOLA
got the seal of approval from family!

@Foxy trini a cardinal and an Alice Shirley are a great combo sure to bring happiness! Your JQ is lovely and I’m singing a small dirge for your sweater

@Teaforparrots you do purple beautifully

Such a sweet comment, my dear!

Good Morning Scarflandia and welcome to the 2024 edition of Scarf of The Day!

Thank you all for an amazing SOTD 2023! The Oscarfs Week did not disappoint! I loved seeing everyone's categories and choices, even if I didn't get to drop by much. Thank you to @Living.la.vida.fifi for hosting a spectacular week!

This year's changeover was the weirdest timing ever because January 1st was on Monday, so we went a whole week technically connected to last year because of the way the year ended, but actually in 2024. I hope that is not an inauspicious start for my year.... (Really...)

But, it all turned out for the best, as our brilliant @xincinsin has given me a favorite concept week gloried up with a theme name. Yes, this week is a "no theme" theme week in disguise! What I like to call a "Chaos Week" where literally anything goes and you can't go wrong with anything you wear. The way I figure this is, generally we aren't wearing our scarves to be depressed, or overly stern, so literally anything you put on this week will fit our theme of levity. I know I like to lift my mood and my look with a scarf. So whether it is color that gives your scarf levity, or subject matter, a fond memory a particular scarf invokes, or just the fact your are *wearing* a scarf, let's bring on the levity for the New Year.

=>>07 Jan 2024 Lil Bit of Levity: Fun scarves to start the year on the right note.<<=

I'll start off with my Marble Bandana this week. The bright, happy colors of this bandana can't help but bring a smile to the face.

And double bonus points on this Flamingo Party pareo. It has a rainbow of bright and happy colors, plus who wouldn't have fun with a couple of Partying Flamingos in love?

View attachment 5925742

As always- Jungle Love....Leopards in love...instant levity (and so sweet...).

View attachment 5925741

Here's a little Pickles levity for you to start the week. He wants to go outside.

But I just want to take pictures of his enormous whiskers! :roflmfao:

Take it away with 2024 scarf fans!
Such a fun intro Bunny - thank you for starting us off with a great theme... and epic kitty whiskers!
Great start to the new thread, Bunny, and please thank Pickles for dropping in and gracing us with his purrfect presence. What a darling, handsome boy. Your offerings are lovely, I am quite in love with your JL CSGM - such an elegant cw.
Well, what could lift a mood or start a day better than this bright and happy cw of On A Summer’s Day (and keep ya warm and cozy, too!)?

I looovvvvvve it! That pink hem! :faint:
Dear all

The colors of this scarf always cheer me up, and as it was only my second carré bought in an H boutique it also holds happy memories of wardrobes less crowded.
Sotd - for an art exhibition with DH - is Three Graces.

Have a lovely Sunday!!!

Such a great color!
My SOTD is a scarf that always makes me happy because...birds! Talking birds! Birds in their own house with all sorts of weird accoutrements and scarves with writing and scribbles-- all this makes me feel cheerful on a wet and snowy day...
La Maison des Oiseaux Parleurs (in its 3rd and final CCP!)

This is a beautiful colorway! Count me among the fans of B.I.R.D.S!
Woot!
Thank you for the marvelous introduction to the first week of the 2024 Scarf of the Day thread, @bunnycat. I am crossing over to Levity Week with one of my 2023 Oscarf nominees. I already owned two colorways of Animapolis, but once I saw mod shots of the red Godzilla, I had to have him.

My scarf of the day is Animapolis in CW02, the bordeaux/rouge/bleu.

View attachment 5925822
A red Godzilla - we all need one!
(off to hunt!)
Must start the happy scarves week with my happiest of them all, which is Au Royaume d’Helios!

And a new-in happy scarf is the Hermes Horse Club gavroche. I’ve been more less stalking this for months but just hadn’t found it in a store to try on so I finally had my SA order it. It’s so cute and cheerful! (I’m using a chain here to extend it a bit).

View attachment 5925827
Two great fun looks!
This is a fabulous cw, RBH, so rich. And since we’re talkin’ selfies, yours are wonderful! Grand pearls, too. Ok so here’s my very gay cw (gay in the old usage) of Animapolis, that riotous city of all sorts of merry creatures.

This really pops with the black cardi!
@Cordeliere you made me laugh. It was great to see you finally! Think you look amazing and younger than 73 wish I could say the same . I think most ( all) of us struggle with selfies. At least once we get past a certain age.

Yesterdays scarf. Promenades de paris 70. Love the hem on this!
View attachment 5925870
So cute - your stripey top mirrors the fun stripey hem!
And todays cheerful happy design. Exposition universelle
Bought during 2020 during early days of pandemic when I wanted something cheery.

Perfect match with your sweater!
Oooh what a wonderful cw of one of my dearest favs. Twins with the fuscia? The hems look the same. Sisters, too.

Both are darling, but I just love the caramel cw!
Happy Sunday and happy new thread! Saw this little cardinal outside our bedroom and decided to wear a bird scarf today. Wild Singapore!
Awwww - cardinals are my favorite, I love seeing the bright red feathers! Wild Singapore is fabulous!
Hi, scarf friends! Can’t believe it is 2024 already! These are my most recent Scarfmail: the new Flagship scarf and a vintage Joies d’Huver. Will have to think of some fun ones for the coming week!

Today I wore my Sur Mon Nuage for the first time! I must have been waiting for the perfect week to debut this happy scarf. My SOTD:

awwwww - so sweet!
Thank you for all the lovely compliments and recognition, MabelJo : hugs:. Please definitely give CSGTs a try - I adore them. That denim shirt is a favorite- the ruffle give it a bit of elegance to a “workshirt” vibe. And I must return the compliments on your last two posts of 2023 - all wonderful additions and favorites and your JL collection is TDF. When I see your blue JL stamped, I kind of regret not trying it - I love mine - a very bold cw with black and colors, but your is so calm. And the orange one is perfect for summer. But when I see the JL moussie, with whom you are twins with others, notably @LKBNOLA and @Cookiefiend, I have pangs :crybaby: . It’s soooo beautiful and has a certain wild elegance.
Now Gilbert. I’m in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️. I nearly fell over seeing that photo, the perfect darling posing so perfectly with a most perfect scarf gracing his neck. It should be a calendar entry.
💡 We should make a calendar of Our Pets in H :giggle:.
Here is me trying on @LKBNOLA ‘s JL moussie last summer. I will see if the boutique I am visiting this week has it.

Welp girrly - this looks amazing on you!

<enable-ing hat on securely :giggle:)
Happy Monday Scarflandia. I am traveling today and wearing Selle Imaginaire which is probably my most fun CSGM.

It really is a fun and cheerful scarf!
Good morning everyone! I am about to get back on the road but feeling happy in Super Silk Quest-- which is a super fun design. My SIL and brothers are all dedicated gamers and this scarf gets a cheerful seal of approval from them, too. I took @Jereni's suggestions and tried an outdoor mod shot! Of course I cropped out my snow-blind squint-- it is very cold and very winter white here...

Super fun and what a beautiful blue!

The dancers on Hommage a Gene Kelly are beginning the New Year on a fun note.

Very fun, but zomg - this hem!! :panic:
My collection of 90s is organized into two rows, with one row (at least half of the scarves) featuring fun themes. Here’s one of my most whimsical scarves. I took some photos leaning out my back door in an attempt to show the snow without getting myself too involved with it ;)View attachment 5926308
This purple really sings on you - love it!

Dear Cordeliere, May I ask, what is AFF, please?

Now on to Kuna Peuple and the citrune border. This is a design that I particularly love and have another 90 cw not plissed. I’d like to get a CS 90 in it someday - maybe. I’m here to add my two cents. Here is an internet photo for reference.
View attachment 5926235
There is so much going on that, depending on the way it is knotted, the border could easily be minimized. The colors are extraordinary and the citrine border has a gorgeous purple mini border to tame it. As for the center medallion, it’s a very nice yellow mixed in with acqua, not very bold. All the color elements work together. So I vote that you give it another chance, play different ties and knots.

When I first started looking at scarves, I thought I could safely ignore Twillies. I thought they were too small, too precious, not really me. Then I started browsing the SOTD thread which was a huge eye-opener. Between you, @bunnycat, @Snausages and so many other posters' creative and stylish use of Twillies (like this one) I can safely predict by the end of 2024 there will be at least one Twilly (and possibly a Mors ring) in my closet.

Thank you, Textile Girl, I appreciate your providing me woth this information. I have used Ann’s in the past, they are wonderful. I just couldn’t recognize the acronym.
Your Coup de Fouet is lovely. We are sisters. Here’s mine.
