Off topic. Happy St.Patricks day for those who celebrate it. My mother is Irish, so I definitely do. Funnily enough I don't wear much green. I have worn this top once a year for probably the last 15 years . Paired today with Cosmographia Universalis in the blue/green c/w.

Very nice. I will definitely wear green tomorrow, once the sun makes its way around to us. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you.

Yesterday I mentioned that I have been eliminating brown toned scarves from my collection. However, there are a few favorite designs that will be staying. One is my beloved brown Jardins d’Hiver, which apparently I have been wearing with neutrals all along.

I’m going with the brown-on-brown neutrals for today. Jardins d’Hiver is my scarf of the day.

View attachment 5741500
I love this tie and this top with it @Redbirdhermes and I am cracking up over the collage showing you've been "neutralizing" it all along! Sometimes neutrals are so understated we don't even realize we are wearing them!
Just after Christmas, I came across a design that was new to me: Les Licornes.
View attachment 5741502
I hesitated to buy it because the cw was described as Khaki, not a colour that I have much experience with, but one that could fall under this week's theme of neutrals.

When the parcel arrived, I was stumped. I had no clue what to match this with: the khaki was a dull dark bronze, the secondary colours were a dark oyster, dusty pink, and dull gold. I wore it twice this week, but it didn't go well with white or metallic fabric.
View attachment 5741503
I'm going to give it a try with a grape purple next.
View attachment 5741504
I think it will look lovely on the bright purple @xincinsin and grey too I think? Very imposing horns on those licornes!
SOTD for errands, an appointment and lunch with my darlin’ H. Donner Le Main. It has a neutral vibe, however, pairing it with this bright pink, well…
View attachment 5741612
This scarf design is so darn appealing but look how beautiful it looks as a plisse-- so watery and soft @Karenska. Definitely a soft neutral "go with anything" vibe!
My goal of a week full of tranquility literally came to a crashing halt when I managed to hit a pole this morning while trying to back up. Been driving for 33 years and this is my first accident. At least I have a beautiful neck warmer while I fill out the insurance claim, and no one is hurt, the engine seems fine, just some scary looking (hopefully) superficial plastic damage.
Jungle Love CSGM.

Oh, no! I am so glad that no one was hurt but definitely the kind of event that does not do anything for your day or mood @EtsyBoss. Your shawl on the other hand is full of uplift and at least only your driving record and your vehicle are banged up it sounds like...An upsetting thing to be sure...
Thank you @Karenska and @LKBNOLA and others who have commented and complimented my pins and broches. They are another little passion of mine and honestly I do not know if I have more broches than scarfs, but I Think it might be the case. The one today is a silver Georg Jensen design called Splash - hence the paring with the Dallet dream of the mediterranian. I inherited it from my grandmother, a very stylish lady, who also left me my very first Hermes scarf. I Think she would be mighty happy to see the passions go together

View attachment 5741723
I thought it was Georg Jensen! My best friend from college days inherited her mother's collection and I have so enjoyed learning about the designers and features of brooches. How lovely to have these heirlooms and shared passions with your stylish grandmother @HermesEchidna -- my Dallet love and my Tigre du Bengal came from a beloved aunt-by-marriage who was also very stylish. Nice connections! (and thank you for the compliment!)
Hermes makes a lot of scarves with All The Colors, sometimes that makes it hard to decide just what color to ‘sort’ it as.
That’s where my Mixed Neutral (patent and trademark pending ) drawer comes in handy.

I vote that we have a theme next year called Mixed Neutrals © Cookiefiend-- oh, wait! Isn't that what we *are* doing this week!
I have complimented these often-- the center of your yellow PeF is themost beautiful of all the cws IMHO, your Sintra is a wonder and your very unusual black-hemmed DlMauC is amazing. Now, what else was in there... Hmmmm (and thank you @Cookiefiend-- scarfmail from friends is the best!)
I love everything about this lovely honey-colored ensemble @Croisette7-- so warm and inviting...

Happy St Patrick's Day to you @hotgalaxy! Of course in New Orleans, there is a parade and because we throw things during parades, cabbages were often thrown from the floats and it was a fine thing to catch one for your dinner. But too many people got bonked on the head so now they just hand them out carefully...
The blue green cw of Cosmographia is a real beauty and perfect for the day...

Hopefully wearing the last of my winter darker clothes this week.

I often match my neutral scarves with my neutral colored clothes. That‘s what I do most of the time. If I put on a brown sweater, I usually go to the brown/blacks scarf drawer. No idea why I often do this. So I decided to turn my thinking upside down today.
To me, the point of neutrals is that they can be worn with tons of colors. Ex. Wear my navy blue blazer with bright yellow or red shirt and a scarf to tie it all together. So rather than thinking about my staple “neutrals” as my navy blue blazer, black sweater, or brown cardigan, I decided to take the smallest piece of my outfit (my silk) w it’s neutral colors and wear it with major color today.
Carnaval de Venise is brown n black ( neutral) w a light blue hem, which ties in the blue line in the flannel plaid. I don’t hate it. I don’t love it either haha, but don’t hate it. I am happy that wearing it today brings me further away from my matchy matchy thinking.

Good morning Scarflandia!
I hope you’re all doing well after losing an hour of your day, and big kudos to @xincinsin for our Bargoon and Surprises week!

This week, a subject near and dear to my heart - neutrals.

March 12 - Neutral of Any Hue - Black, White and your personal neutrals (White Day 3/14)

Not just white and black, gray and beige, but all the shades we find or think of, as Neutral… Just what is neutral?

The dictionary says - “a neutral color or shade, especially light gray or beige.
"classic shades of navy, white, and neutral"
Hrmmm

Professor Google shows me these colors
View attachment 5738312
Hrmm… well that’s a start anyway.

I will admit that while I love All The Colors (except Pepto Bismol pink), I love me a soft, calm neutral. One those hectic days/weeks/months, sometimes you just need something calming around your neck!

My scarves are sorted by color - and by neutrals:
Dark

And Light
View attachment 5738314

I have another drawer that we’ll get to later this week called Mixed Neutral, full of scarves that will make you say “Cookie, that is knot neutral” :giggle:
But they are, I pinky swear!

We all have different thoughts regarding
a neutral color or shade, especially light gray or beige.
"classic shades of navy, white, and neutral"
what we consider a ’neutral’ - is it color, is it gender neutral (winking at the men’s scarves), or does it just go with everything?
Let’s get off the fence , this is not Switzerland after all - and show our ’New-trals’!
Here’s a few to get us started!

What a fabulous introductory post! That chart with the colors is very helpful. You are so great with neutrals that I know we will all be bedazzled by your offerings this week… Is the last shawl Pegase? It is extraordinary!

Good morning all and thank you ALL so much for the good wishes. I am feeling a bit better-- a scarf, lipstick and a mod shot moment definitely fakes a sickly spirit into thinking things are on the upswing!

Recapping to say that @Cookiefiend, @Croisette7 (previewing neutrals with those gorgeous snowflakes!),@Karenska looking ready for a parade in her green finery and @xincinsin's closing bargains and lucky surprises were a feast for the eyes and very cheering...

To start off neutrals for me, here is a crossover scarf. I looked for this design for so so long and tried so many cw options and returned, tried on friend's versions and was disappointed until one day on a site that does not list scarves by name, I saw a familiar design and thought could it be? In blue and grey? Oh, my. I took a chance and a week later it was mine for 50% of retail. I gave it a bath and ironed in folds and voila. I love me a good bestiary and Virginie Jamin's Cavalleria Favolosa does not disappoint! I also love the combination of blue and grey. L.O.V.E Love, love.
Tied to show a "fabulous" bird for @Teaforparrots and in a shorter version of the same fold:

Love this calm and cool CW and looks great with the oatmeal sweater

Wonderful introduction and peek at your fabulous collection for this week of neutrals @Cookiefiend, J'aime ton Carré! ;)

Last week started with me breaking my laptop (10 inch drop off a stool onto a concrete floor did it in) and ended with me nearly losing my backup laptop to a full steaming hot cup of coffee that spilled all over me but missed my machine. The middle was all work and too little silk.

This week I'm going to embark on a some sort of Work Correction Program = tranquility.

This shawl is amazing… It is the last CSGM to enter my collection and I am in awe of its beauty

Hello dear scarfing amigas and amigos! Thank you @Cookiefiend for the delightful introduction. Neutrals isn’t my forte at all:smile:) While I have a small collection of black and white scarves, I rarely wear silk in winter. I have to pull a few neutral oatmeal and gris de chine shawls this week out, but for now this is the shawl I wore last night to dinner - Appaloosa in my fav CW (I also have the exact same CW in 90 - how crazy is it?).. I love the design, the color combo (so rich and lush and alive!) and it drapes like a dream - whichever corner you like to highlight! Just looking at it makes me happy - Alice Shirley at her best IMHO. Happy Sunday everyone!

My fav CW of this wonderful design

My new to me La Rosee, in fairly neutral white and blue. I adore @Cookiefiend ’s changeant moussies in this design, maybe one day I’ll find one!

Before purchasing this scarf I was casually browsing images from the FW2008 thread, this design was just one of several standout designs that season, I now have an even longer wishlist :giggle:

Love this look! Fabulous pattern mixing

Bonjour, everyone. I am fighting my natural tendencies for this week to turn out like a paraphrase of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet (How do I Love Thee/Let me count the greys) by pairing some of my favorite "neutrals" with different top options other than the go-to charcoal, heather or pewter. Today's SOTD is Jardin a Sintra having a playdate with a soft teal sweater instead.
View attachment 5738960
My favorite Sintra CW… Such a great pairing with this sweater! I must try to find a top this color to wear with mine

Monday Monday
Can’t stop that day.
It’s so graaa - yay
I can’t go out and play.
What else can I do to be useful
But wear a BEE-you-TEE-ful

One of H’s best neutral scarves… I love it so much that I own the same CW both as a 90 twill and CSGM… I’ve never paired it with green but just look at how beautiful it looks

A couple recent neutrals for this week.

Jin et Leo pareo has a lot of neutral colors in it with the brown, beige and black. Luckily for me, it is also offset by some bright green and pink. It does go with a variety of things in my closet, especially neutral tops.

View attachment 5739497

Cavalcadour Fleuri in the Gris Chine' colorway is one of my go to neutral based CSGMs

View attachment 5739498
Love them both but I’ve always admired that Cavalcadour Fleuri shawl… This is my fav CW

Just to keep it on theme, lots of grey and white, and even a dose of light blue for today’s neutral entry. I love this one, and I totally baby it. Not an ideal pairing with the pink but I didn’t have time to change, or style this as it deserves. Grand Prix du Faubourg. Sisters with @Redbirdhermes who has the beautiful purple version, I think?

View attachment 5739697
Oh so beautiful! I got the
Brightest CW of this design when it came out but now regret not getting a more subdued CW like your beauty

Good morning. We did establish that grey and kakhi are neutrals right? Even though they come in spots?
And am I right in thinking that I am not the only one who reach for this particular scarf when dressing for a day of heavy meetings and tricky agendas? It just adds that little bit of necessary leopard-power to get you through…
Wish you all a lovely day!

View attachment 5739704
Perfect scarf for the week’s theme!

This scarf remains an enigma for me. I bought it precisely because it doesn't look like anything I have, kind of neutral in comparison. I've thought about parting with it, but every time it works its magic, I keep it.

It is beautiful and so unique!

As soon as I even begin to think of spring I pull out my „marinière look“! Red, white and blue is my most worn combination at this time of the year. So definitely neutrals!
Today my Méditerranée together with ntm Lift pendant in white, which was a gift from DH to my birthday yesterday! I am introducing the @bunnycat method of buying presents to be hidden for special occasions! Very efficient ;) In addition I got an Annie Faivre „Terres Précieuses“ :love:View attachment 5739819

Oooh, I love this on you! It is magnificent

Moving kind of backwards this morning (haven't read yesterday's posts!). SOTD today is most definitely a neutral. It could have joined in Sleeping Beauty week because it has languished for a time. I wore it often when I first got it (under the potent influence of lovely Mai Tai) but mostly only with cream or black. Looking at it again with fresh eyes, I realize that the neutrals are not so easy to combine so I took a page out of @Redbirdhermes' color philosophy and looked for another color in the design. The blue/grey in the peppers reminds me a tiny bit of my Jardin a Sintra so I paired it with a dark "peacock" blue. Also showing the camel pairing for contrast... What do y'all think? What color top would you wear?

So great in these fabulous neutrals

Charm de Orphee.. the subdued side. I just love this scarf / design / designer so much. Alice Shirley is a magician! This week is off to a great start, no broken things, no spilled coffees. This week's theme is all about taking it down a notch to enjoy the less complicated things both in silk and in life. I can embrace that!

View attachment 5739830
That is simply stunning! I would wear this side all the time

Denim blue is another color that I find can be worn with every other color in my wardrobe, making it a useful neutral. One of the things I liked about this colorway of Le Carnaval des Animaux is that it is filled with many favorite neutrals. Blue jean, khaki green, beige, tan, brown, sand and gray dominate this scarf. I am so not a black and white neutrals gal.

View attachment 5739659

Of course, this scarf pairs well with my various neutral tops. I’m wearing it with light gray today. Note that my camera turns the gray a shade bluer than it actually is. Pearls are from Fiji. Le Carnaval des Animaux is my scarf of the day.

While @LKBNOLA looks absolutely stunning in black and white today, she looks equally amazing in other classic neutrals. Following in the footsteps of @HermesEchidna, my SOTD is Acinonyx Juabtus-- a wonderful acquisition from a scarfie friend. I had been regretting not jumping on this when I had the chance that season and every time I saw @Redbirdhermes post hers I re-lived that regret! So delighted to finally be sisters...

And two recent "neutral" Dallet 90s from past weeks' themes...

(Dans l'Atelier de Robert Dallet and Tigre du Bengal)
Twins on Tigre Bengale. All three are spectacular!

Just after Christmas, I came across a design that was new to me: Les Licornes.

I'm going to give it a try with a grape purple next.

I find the design very charming and the colors simply wonderful.

I am sorry to hear that. So glad you aren’t hurt.

Hermes makes a lot of scarves with All The Colors, sometimes that makes it hard to decide just what color to ‘sort’ it as.
That’s where my Mixed Neutral (patent and trademark pending ) drawer comes in handy.

It could also be called “Goes With Everything”
Because they do!

Now you may be saying “Cookie, your PenF is yellow - you’ve lost your mind!”
But - check it out! (SOTD)
