What a year it has been! I am glad I was able to join you all on your silky adventures and am so appreciative of everyone's posts, ideas, comments and enablements.

Without further ado, my Oscarfs 2023:

Boldest Colors
Joining the Tulipomanie love, this was my boldest choice this past year

View attachment 5925198

Most Delicate
For good measure, balancing it out with an ethereal version
View attachment 5925204

Most Surprising Contrast Hem
I still don't know how I didn't catch in any of the mod shots that this has a caramel contrast hem. I own absolutely nothing in caramel, yet the design is beautiful, so here we are.

Most Attempts
I was excited to find this on a resale site listed as "never worn". Unfortunately, I learned that you apparently CAN never wear a scarf and still get some big stains and pulls on it. I was able to return it, so back it went.

Later in the year, I found another, in much better condition. Many thanks to @Redbirdhermes for the very kind help and advice with this purchase.

It came up on one of the seasonal threads recently that Hermes sometimes recycles color combinations. Here is an example of almost the same colors a few scarf-generations apart.

I dithered too long when this first came out and am glad I found this CW after-sale this past year. One of my favorite finds of 2023.

Thank you all for a great year, for sharing your marvelous and hilarious Oscarfs, and may you all have many delightful scarf adventures in 2024.

Beautiful @BlueLilac! Twins on the yellow Tulipomanie and the green Vallée de Cristal!

Many thanks to @Living.la.vida.fifi, our scarf hostess for the week. My final Oscarf for 2023 goes to a long wished for scarf that entered the collection at the very end of 2023, and is therefore making its debut appearance today.

Some designs receive special notice from Hermès and are widely promoted in their advertising. Such is the case with today's scarf which, among other things, graced the cover of the Le Carre booklet for the Hermès Fall Winter 2015 collection.

I had picked up a Sieste au Paradis in the silk 140 format during 2022, and found it to be stunningly beautiful. It had taken me a while, but when I put it on, then I truly fell for this design.

View attachment 5925232

But, I wear the 90 so much more often. So I was delighted to find a 90 in CW14, bleu/vert/corail, the "Cover Scarf" of F/W 2015. This colorway was so familiar to me, and I think it is quite special.

My final Oscarf of 2023 goes to Sieste au Paradis, my scarf of the day, and the well-deserved Oscarf "Cover Scarf" winner.

SOTD, newish purchase this year. Fleurs et Papillons de Tissus.

I think I remember all of them, you have the most exquisite collection @Croisette7!

Thank you to @Living.la.vida.fifi for this always amazing and wonderful week at the end of the year. Who doesn't love awards ceremonies? And the "Orange" Carpet? Most especially great when the Mistress of Ceremonies deserves an Oscarf of her own for Best Hosting and Best Collection and Best Mod Shots! And Oscarfs to everyone here who shared with so much generosity and humor and fun. The very best categories! With the very best examples! A huge end-of-the-scarf-year hat tip to all of Scarflandia for an Outstanding Show.
I am ending my Oscarfs with awards for the Autumn Winter 2023 Scarf Season. Of course I can't really even pick nominees because I am still getting to know these scarves, but I am going out on a limb and say, with complete confidence, that these would be my winners no matter what. Not least because I have already bought more than one of each design

Happy Saturday Scarflandia!

This year I found two HGs, I showed the first one earlier (LVdesD), and in December I found one I had been looking for ever since I had seen it on our lovely @lanit.

Lovely Karenska!

I know some of the other cws that you have @Living.la.vida.fifi and they were all wonderful but I must say that these are masterful CCP/edits to your collection-- beautiful! Twins on Fleur d'Indiennes -- a true favorite-- and also on Jeu de Cartes, which is wonderful in this fun cw! Congratulations!

WOW wow. Both are so perfect for you! That orange tulip is chefs kiss. Which design is your csgm? Look at those colors on you

One thing that these following silks have in common is that I already owned each design in another CW. Though I love each of these designs and was happy with my CWs, these are all a CCP of sorts since I feel that these newins work for me just a little bit better. So my Oscarf to CCPs of 2023 goes to all of them:

Each and every one is amazing. I am kicking myself for passing on the Fleurs cw. It’s what I get for trying to stick to rules. That plains does glow marvelously

Another fantastic colorway @Foxy trini

Fabulous twillies - love that marble @Redbirdhermes

Amazing cashmere @Teaforparrots

TY @Living.la.vida.fifi - the Madison Party also deserves an Oscarf for best deal (insane to find it below retail!). And as always your mod shots make me weak in the knees - that FdI :faint:

TY @LKBNOLA and gorgeous moussie!

TY @Nomad and I totally agree on secondary market - if I miss something I think ‘someone needed it more than I do’ and ‘if I’m patient it will come back around again’ Can’t wait to see your Jaguars!

@HermesEchidna these are soooo your colors!

@SilkCouture what an excellent foray into H scarves! So many amazing grails and your tips are always so beautifully tailored

What wonderful birthday gifts, love all of them! Amd your Zouaves is outstanding, LKB!

Thank you so much, dear!

Thank you, Snausages, it's from Rome.

Both are amazing on you!

Thank you, Cookie!

Pretty woman ... in both moussies!

So chic, as always, Jereni, wonderful colours on you!

Twins on the tulips, and congrats on your great Sangles, Tea!

Thank you so much, fifi!

All splendid on you ... love the cw of Pelages!

SilkCouture, your model pics are so delightful and your collex is precious!

Twins on Pytheas!

Fabulousity, LKB! Love them all!

2023 was the most stressful year in my many-year life. I became a caregiver and had zero time for myself. I could have used emotional eating to cope, but shockingly, pounds fell off me. Instead, I used “emotional scarfing” to deal with the stress. In 2023, I bought 15 scarves, purchasing most of them between August and November. Looking at scarves was pleasurable, could be done in bed, and required no energy. Who can look and not buy? Not me. BIN became my best friend. At the end of the year, I had lost 13 pounds and bought 15 scarves. 15 scarves seems like a ridiculous number, since I had my collection stabilized at about 45 scarves for the last 4 years. Still, I am much happier to have ended the year with 15 more scarves, rather than 15 more pounds.

As I share my purchases, I would like to mention those who enabled me. My definition of being enabled is (1) having my lust for a scarf stirred up by modeling shots when I had previously not been dying for said scarf; or (2) seeing a scarf, colorway, or format, that I was previously not aware of, which after seeing, I must have NOW. My definition of enabling is totally related to uncontrollable surges in lust. In some cases, SOTD merely informed my choices. In other cases, SOTD created those irresistible silk lust surges.

Here are my 2023 purchases with acknowledgement of the enablers.

View attachment 5924975View attachment 5924982

CSGMs
Sangles en Zig Zag.
Clair de Lune (all those pics on FW23 were strictly educational)
Sieste au Paradis (Had it stretched for wall hanging omitting border)

Mousseline
Point d’Orgue.

90s
Au Coeur de Vie. @HermesEchidna This is a bank shot of enablement since @ Cookiefiend enabled you.

Babobab Cat. The enablers are too numerous and spread over too many years to mention.

Chacun Fait Son Nid. @Redbirdhermes got me interested in this design with her pictures of the blue one. When I saw the red on ebay, my eyes shot out of their sockets. Had to have it NOW and it was definitely over-priced.

Brides de Gala en Finesse.

Vallee de crystal. (all those pics on FW23 were strictly educational)

Legend of the Kuna People of Panama. Owned this previously, sold it, and bought back. It was a mistake for me the first time and it was still a mistake the second time. I usually like to make new mistakes instead of making the same one over again.

Fleurs de Lotus. Not shown. Sold it.

70
Les Flots du Cheval

Bandana
Madras Ex Libris @Cookiefiend has been enabling me on this one for years. One finally came my way.

45

Belles du Mexique

La Voie Lactee. I seriously lusted for the stole after seeing @Living.la.vida.fifi 's stole, but settled for the consolation of a gav until my holiest of grails comes to me.

My category for the Best Enablers includes @HermesEchidna @Redbirdhermes @Cookiefiend @Living.la.vida.fifi They make me hit BIN. The winner is Cookie for her years of enablement on Madras Ex Libris and her bank shot of enablement on Au Coeur de Vie. Fifi gets honorable mention for introducing me to my holiest of grails and launching what I expect to be a multi year seach.

When I started following SOTD again, I told myself I was here to improve my tying and styling skills. @LKBNOLA and @Marta_K have been Most Inspirational to me with their beautiful blouses and ties. I declare this category to be a tie (pun intended).

Category of Most Effortlessly Beautiful Selfies. @SilkCouture @Ashanti_Rose @Jereni @violetkool @GloWW0rM I am envious of each of you for your beautiful smiles and your comfort with the camera. I absolutely hate taking selfies and wish I had your magic. No winner can be picked because you are each incomparable.

Thank you to all who participate for your wonderful contributions.

For the last day of Oscarf week, like others have done, I want to give out Oscarfs to lovely members of Scarflandia who have helped and inspired me in my journey last year!!!

First Inspiration Oscarf goes to the amazing @LKBNOLA, which is probably a surprise to no one. Where would we be without her???? My own Ye Most Magical Scarf Cabinet would have fewer residents that’s for sure. LKB inspired me this year on Animapolis, Costume de Fete, Hermes Factory (all of which are in my favorites list), my Lanternes 90, my Parade en Fanfare gavroche, and many many others. And she has been so kind to chat with me many times on the side and give advice. Thank you LKB!!!
View attachment 5925142

Second Oscarf for Inspiration goes to @Nomad. Nomad’s photo of Cosmographia instantly clued me as to the fact that it would be the right cw for me, whereas previously I had not considered it, and her amazing pink/orange Animapolis left me with heart eyes. Also a great source of advice on the side and willingness to help making hard choices. Nomad you are the best!
View attachment 5925143

Third Oscarf goes to @Marta_K who in a single post ensured that I went out and pulled the trigger on both En Liberte and L’Epopee. Her stylings and mod shots in general are also always so masterfully done. Amazing stuff Marta!
View attachment 5925144

Fourth inspirational Oscarf is for @EtsyBoss who helped complete my life earlier this year by pointing out the Canada Lynx on Alice Shirley’s Into the Canadian Wild. And her beautiful shot of the red Dans in Jardin Anglais also convinced me to pull the trigger on that and man is it ever gorgeous. Thank you EtsyBoss!
View attachment 5925145

I also want to thank @redheaddem @Living.la.vida.fifi @SilkCouture @GloWW0rM @Cookiefiend @Lellabelle @Ashanti_Rose @Cordeliere who have all shared amazing inspirational mod shots, provided me advice at various points, or occasionally given me a heads up on a scarf of interest - thank you!!!! You are all rockstars!

Happy weekend dear scarfies! Thank you @Living.la.vida.fifi for hosting a spectacular week and thank you everyone for sharing all your wonderful photos + silks + stories - it takes a lot to share some of the more personal ones with the community. :flowers:

Thanks, everyone, for so many lovely comments and all the likes!

My last post of today (I should have really grouped them into one, so thank you for indulging me!). is another first. I think of @Redbirdhermes as the Queen of de Poret designs here as she has collected them so assiduously since I have been participating. I so admire her collection. His work is so very beautiful and tender and true that I am always compelled by the designs but they are generally out of reach in terms of availability and price. To date I had only the 70 reissue of Les Bassets, which is wonderful but I longed for some birds, or dogs or deer... le sigh. Well 2023 was the year I found my first (and probably only) Xavier de Poret, Les Tourterelles. Incidentally this scarf was listed by the reseller as "brown" and the photos did seem to support that... I asked for more and..voila!

My 2023 Oscarf for Best Artist goes Les Tourterelles
View attachment 5922891
A tiny little Oscarf statuette also goes to me for the first time securing a scarf with magnets and causing no injury to myself, the mirror or any innocent bystanders during the process :giggle:
Absolutely stunning, this cw. Congratulations on this find, Lkb, it is amazing. And to @Redbirdhermes, too, because her cw is stunning, too. And to your magnet success :giggle:. Must find out more about these…

2023 was a Three-Grail Year for me and each of them deserves its own award. I have made a "photo montage" of the winners. Everyone kept asking what I wanted for such a milestone birthday year. "Oh, just some scarves," I innocently replied. But DH and DD get honorary Oscarfs for attentive listening, excellent organization and follow-through and very creative timing as I never knew which was in the wrapped box I was being given...It was a lot of silky fun and a joy to receive these coveted and now cherished pieces.

Dear Scarfies, This year has been like a roller coaster in a teenager’s first love drama series. It kicked off with a first purchase in May, reminding me of that awkward but unforgettable first kiss. Since then, my scarf collection has grown frenetically. I hope my love for scarves matures soon for the sake of my wallet 😆. Initially, I was quite apprehensive about venturing into the second-hand market. But now, like many of you, I find myself eagerly checking my saved searches daily, always on the lookout for that next unique find. Of all the special items I’ve brought home this year from the resale market, there are a few that stand out, capturing my heart more than the rest. These scarves, which I’m happy to share with you, are my personal Oscarf nominees for Best Sound. Each one, upon its debut around my neck, unleashed a series of magical ‘WOWs’ out of pure admiration and excitement 🥰

I'm missing some other special ones, but since I'm traveling, I'm sharing these from the archives.

The Oscarf for Best Adapted Silk (aka Inspired by tPF)

Metamorphoses - saw one gracing the neck of an SA and loved the weirdness of it all but not the all gray look, then saw @Maedi modeling this colorway. Was delighted when this popped up on a resale site

Voyage de Pytheas - have always admired the borders but I think it was @Karenska who highlighted details of the narwhal and orcas and bears that pushed me to hit the buy button

Great ones but especially that absolutely amazing Pytheas

Some scarf designs are harder to find than others. Here are a few hard-to-find scarves that entered my collection this year.

And now for my Oscarf for best Fall Winter 23 design:

La Vallée de Cristal 🦄

I bought the green and silver colorways and already regret returning the pink and orange ones… this design did not speak to me much when I first saw it but I love the vibrant colours and the easy way this design ties.

Because of the bad lighting nowadays I am posting archive shots ( and I did remove the tag since then 😊)

( I still hope to see this design pop up one the sites worldwide for those that did not manage to order it yet)

Happy Friday, dear scarflandians!
I have been on a Format Correction Quest last year trying to let go of 90s in favour of large formats. Two CSGMs that were a result of this exercise are worth Oscarfs for Best Format Correction; they quickly got on “My Favorites” menu - Sieste au Paradis and Appaloosa. Having said that, I am refusing to tally my “shame” total - I think it is best that I live in denial:smile:

Both are drop-dead gorgeous!

First, an Oscarf for Not on My Radar but Couldn’t Pass Up. Minuit Au Faubourg as a design was something I wanted, but my grail is a blue and orange one that I think @Croisette7 has. However, one day in the boutique the pop of aqua on this caught my eye and when I tried it on, I was completely charmed. Another great 70! Love this size so much.
View attachment 5924911

Second Oscarf is for Luckiest Random Score, which goes to Le Premier Chant in the orange and teal. I’d had this in my list for awhile and was figuring I would acquire it from the after-market since it’s older, but it occurred to me to ask my SA if any were left in the U.S. Not only were there some left, but my boutique had one (and only one) of the design in stock and it happened to be this cw! So exciting.
View attachment 5924913

Third is for Most Unexpected Colorway That Still Works, and I award this to Epaulettes de Gala. I am verrra hesitant about yellows bc most don’t work with my skin tone but this one seems to just fall into the safe zone, and I love the textures in the design.
View attachment 5924914

And lastly an Oscarf for Most Satisfying End of Hunt, which goes to my Douze Leopards shawl. I don’t know if I’d describe this as a true grail - it is definitely the cw of this design I wanted the most and was entirely gone from all H websites that I scoured. But it was listed on multiple aftermarket sites readily, just usually at inflated prices and with some wear / imperfections. So I was very happy to eventually find one listed for the same as retail, and in new condition with tags.

Thanks for letting me share! Much love to you all, again I’m so grateful for this cheerful and friendly forum.
Such fabulous choices! Love the Leopards especially on you

Hello Scarflandia
My Oscarf for 2023 Value for money purchase goes to Pirouette au Galop CSGM. I was very lucky to acquire it at a reasonable price from a Lady who was true to her word regarding its condition- never worn, new without tag condition. And I couldn't be happier about it - as it is very elegant (IMO) + something completely missing in my collection + this CW turned out to be very good for my complexion and easy to match with my wardrobe:

Happy to be a sister on this one with @LKBNOLA and I am sure many others
Have a lovely Saturday, everyone !
So beautiful and versatile!

My Oscarf for new to me additions goes to Fantaisie d’étriers and Mineraux. Mineraux has sentimental value for an avid mounain climber, photographer and mineraux appreciating relative. And Tigre Bengale which has been unworn in my scarf drawer for 11 years and needs to be worn.View attachment 5924968View attachment 5924969View attachment 5924970
Fabulous choices!

So it was ‘kind of’ a year of duplicates for me. Two are personal grails of mine and circus I think is just a marvel of color and the corners in ties are chefs kiss. I will always add colorways of this that work on me.
“Award for designs worth dupes”
Circus in black entered in 2023. I have a purple also.

My personal grail cocottes de soie. This blue entered in 2023. Also, this scarf has a double award too haha. “Award for first scarf trade w a scarfie” . That was fun!! And this is my scarf of the day today

pink leonhardi entered. Already had my red.

Edit/ why are the full image pics SOoooo big :shrugs:
Oh my… Love them all! Specially smitten with the Leonhardi

I personally know how draining and stressful caregiving can be… So very sorry you have been suffering through this… On the other hand, I am in love with all these amazing silk additions!

Another post as running out of time. I just finally cleaned and ironed so wanted to wear it for my post
Also an “ award for a dupe” and “my grailiest of grails toppest of tops lists of Oscarfs”
Anglais! 🥁
It is a dupe because I have two haha.
Story/ I said to myself..I am sick of losing out on cheaper than csgm chances to faster fingers. I am tired of waiting to even see if it’s “all that”. I just want to know if it’s “love” or not. So I bought it for a ridiculous price. I just HAD TO KNOW finally haha. Then weeks later I actually had the faster fingers in the west and got one for way under CuRrEnT retail. I haven’t figured out if I will keep as a back up or sell. I also want the red based one :shrugs: .
And to conclude …it was ALL THAT

It is amazing!

And here is a roundup for my Oscarfs 2023:
View attachment 5925084

In 2023 I got 4 Carrés - Carnaval des Animaux, cosmpgraphia universalis, Les legendes de l‘arbe and Au Coeur de la vie (the last one was a very late entry and I haven’t yet had time to wear it)
1 moussie gavroche: also nominated for best deal of the year
And 1 CSGM Jardin de la Maharani.

I am very happy with my small collection so far since it allows me a good range of choices and complements my wardrobe. Very excited about what 2024 will bring.
So many beauties! Well done

My heavens… Absolutely stunning! All!!

Gorgeous! And perfection with the bangle

All simply amazing! Twins on the Cosmographia and En Liberte… and that DUJA is divine!

View attachment 5925187

Most Attempts
I was excited to find this on a resale site listed as "never worn". Unfortunately, I learned that you apparently CAN never wear a scarf and still get some big stains and pulls on it. I was able to return it, so back it went.

Later in the year, I found another, in much better condition. Many thanks to @Redbirdhermes for the very kind help and advice with this purchase.

Most similar CWs
It came up on one of the seasonal threads recently that Hermes sometimes recycles color combinations. Here is an example of almost the same colors a few scarf-generations apart.

Favorite backfill
I dithered too long when this first came out and am glad I found this CW after-sale this past year. One of my favorite finds of 2023.

Thank you all for a great year, for sharing your marvelous and hilarious Oscarfs, and may you all have many delightful scarf adventures in 2024.
So amazing! Well done!

View attachment 5925229

I had picked up a Sieste au Paradis in the silk 140 format during 2022, and found it to be stunningly beautiful. It had taken me a while, but when I put it on, then I truly fell for this design.

View attachment 5925232

But, I wear the 90 so much more often. So I was delighted to find a 90 in CW14, bleu/vert/corail, the "Cover Scarf" of F/W 2015. This colorway was so familiar to me, and I think it is quite special.

View attachment 5925231

My final Oscarf of 2023 goes to Sieste au Paradis, my scarf of the day, and the well-deserved Oscarf "Cover Scarf" winner.

View attachment 5925230
It is simply breathtaking!

SOTD, newish purchase this year. Fleurs et Papillons de Tissus.

So incredibly beautiful!

Happy weekend dear scarfies! Thank you @Living.la.vida.fifi for hosting a spectacular week and thank you everyone for sharing all your wonderful photos + silks + stories - it takes a lot to share some of the more personal ones with the community. :flowers:

Hoping everyone in the US east coast stays safe and warm this weekend! I think we're getting snow up here in my side of Canada as well.
A classic beauty

Happy Saturday Scarflandia!

This year I found two HGs, I showed the first one earlier (LVdesD), and in December I found one I had been looking for ever since I had seen it on our lovely @lanit.
A gorgeous gorgeous neutral, and moussie, I am in love.

70 CM Oscarfs:
One of my most sought-after 70s is Quand Soudain. I wanted the purple and green but when this one became available, I bought it and I couldn’t be happier.

Format correction (for me) with this darling JL Stamped. I dithered on so many of the wonderful cws of this design, and finally I found this one. I just love it.

And I finally added a Pani La Shar Pawnee, in a preferred 70 format, a most desired design.

Like many of us, I love the vintage scarves. Some are incredibly and finely detailed, they are a marvel to see. They’re sometimes so soft, you know they’ve been loved. Sometimes they’re a little wabi-sabi, and you find you can live with a few flaws … sorta like the ones we love.
And - speaking of my vintage age - we can forgive ourselves for a few flaws.

Last year I found two vintage beauties.

The Oscarf for best jacquard of the year:
La Voliere des Dames - from 1958 (older than I am!), and in the lovely scalloped jacquard. I looked for this for a long time, almost had one in 2022 but the seller cancelled the sale, so I was thrilled to find another!
View attachment 5922974
The Ocarf for the mostest birds on wires:
Les Oiseaux des Champs et des Bois- from 1954 or 2004 - I’m not sure. It only has one of the very old small care tags … so it might be older than I am? :giggle:
You all know how much I like birds, so this scarf made me very happy to finally find. It’s today’s scarf!
