These are the steps to make the Octopus Knot of my previous post.

First of all, you fold the scarf in half lengthwise to make a rectangle and place over your shoulders with all the points facing down and in front of you.

You will need a chain d’ancre scarf ring or buckle.

First step, you insert the two ends closest to your neck each through the openings of the scarf ring like so...

You then take the end to your right and insert through the scarf ring opening on the right pointing upwards

You do the same with the left side

Pull these two corners you have inserted up and out. At this point, you can stop and fluff the sides and adjust the points and be done with the knot

Or, you can also continue with these steps...
You can take the long points that you first inserted downwards through the scarf ring and insert through the openings of the scarf ring going upwards, like this...

And do the same with the other side

Fluff and arrange. You may reference my previous post that showed a few Octopus Knot examples. Some stopped at the 6th picture and some were made by continuing on
This is great! I did some practicing last night (pre-covid vax). I think I need a slightly larger ancre ring but I think this is a lovely festive look. I can see me wearing this to Commander's Palace for a holiday lunch if we can ever have holiday lunches in person again...I love this scarf so much but now am wishing I had it in a lighter cw for other seasons. Thanks for the tutorial. Loved it. Easy to follow and fun to play with.

I’ve always been in awe of people who can carry off the scarf in hair look, decided to give it a go, not sure I’d venture in public like this?

You look really cute. But I have to admit I am unsure if I would be confident enough to run errands with that look. Maybe to visit an art gallery, with the bow more to the side.
But it is cute and the olive tones of the scarf compliment your eyes.

Good morning all. I am recovering from second covid shot and feeling not so wonderful-- I hope to feel well enough later to play with some knots. But I do have field notes from my post-vax expedition to the H boutique in Short Hills mall. SA says they have nothing from SS2021 except Selles des Steppes and Zambeze and Swinging St. Germain. I did not look at other formats. They were kind enough to give me the SS booklet. I am happy to take pics and post if that is allowed. I gave my wish list and left with a twilly for my niece's 18th birthday (start them young!) and a wash Colliers et Chiens in blue, which as usual is so much lovelier in person. The dog portraits make me smile. Happy Friday, Scarfies.
I just came home from my second one. For now I am fine, curious how it will be tomorrow.
But finally a dress up occasion!

Playing with knots while I’m supposed to be working. (Well, this is work!) Les Artisans: snail knot, novelty tie to get the samurai guy in view, octopus (“knot” pleased), and @Cookiefiend’s double knot (the winner, because it only took 3 seconds). Also Rose Inoui lipstick, very poorly named, as it is orange!
Sorry, everything is out of order and double. ARGH!
Also - I spared you my attempt at the "ondulation" knot. I should make a spoof video.

Love the smirk in the second one and the pleased smile in the last.
The scarf, colors and your playfulness made me happy, thank you!

Both are chic, LKBNOLA!

This knot is a favorite - I learned about it on Instagram and the very kind Craielover showed me how - I get mixed up easily!

This knot is great. Does it have a name? Can I find directions on instagram or here? I love how your scarves always look casual, fun and beautiful. I am drooling over the middle one-- gorgeous colors and hem...

Why is it ALL the colours look great on you Cookie? Not envious at all!
Thank you - what a lovely thing to say! :hugs:
(psst - not all of them do... pepto bismol pink and icy blue is a no go!)

Thank you - I appreciate hearing that so much!
I did post a tutorial in the How To thread, it’s post #138! :hugs:

I must confess, I wouldn’t have the confidence/panache to leave the house like that, and reverted to type mid morning with a “bias fold and tie” arrangement.

Apologies, Cookie, you had pointed me to that post last week. I am in knot overload! But I do love this one. The advantage to being holed up in my bed is that no one can interrupt my scarf play! Thrilled to have "caught" the butterfly on this attempt but it is probably beginner's luck! In any event thank you for posting shots that allow us to see the versatility of this knot with so many designs. (How DO y'all keep track of all your scarves?)...

Perfect! The beauty of this knot is the many variations - I love this!
Speaking for myself and keeping track... I am a bit OCD...

I have a spreadsheet (name of scarf, artist, date of purchase, where I purchased it, date of release, cost, colorway, stock number, number of wears, and cost per wear).
I upload my photos to a Pinterest board (which amuses me because I see how often I wear certain items of clothing - that blue sweater for example :giggle:), it helps me see what scarf goes really well with what top or dress. Or jacket!
