My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Hello! I have been lurking on the forums for a while and would like to finally come out of the shadows to thank everyone for all of the positivity here over the past year. Scarf collecting was an even more enjoyable refuge for me than usual, and the photos and insight shared here are always helpful in making decisions and igniting inspiration. Thank you!

My New Year's Rescarfolution for 2021 is to devote more energy to enjoying the scarves I already have. I have been collecting at full steam for a few years now and have reached the point where I feel that my collection is almost "complete" (whatever that means!), so I want to slow down and luxuriate in the details of all of the beautiful scarves that I am so lucky to already own.

Speaking of details, I couldn't resist twinning with @papertiger in my Liberty robe and my 2020 award-winner for Most Whimsical Acquisition - Au Fil de la Soie. Come to think of it, this scarf might be my all-time winner in the Most Meta Silk category, and this image might just up the ante. Thanks for the inspiration!

Welcome, pallida! This is a lovely look!

It is a really wonderful feeling to realize your collection seems fairly complete to you. My selectivity has increased, and I truly appreciate looking through my collection to find a scarf.

What a luxury to be able to have acquired a "collection," and what a delight to have found a lovely group who share the same passion. No matter how few or many scarves you have here, everyone appreciates how we all knot these beauties, pair them with outfits, or feature our furry friends. I am so glad you found us!

Cracking up in bed langsam!! It’s those decision tree questions that only a true scarfie can help you mock up a pro/con list or ask you the leading questions where you fall into a decision “on your own”. Example -Should I love it or list it ? I haven’t worn it in months or I saw another cw I now want more? Should I get that other cw anyway and just turn this design into a collection multiple? Or my personal fave - the omg the design I want I just found for a super low price but it’s not my desired colorway - add to bag or walk away? Or the omg this grail scarf showed up tonight on a resale site the price is fair isn’t it? I mean it’s like 5 seasons old and scarce! Add to bag or walk away? An hour ago I had a scarfmergency not a drill, a real one when printemps 69/ete 70 showed up on the bay new with tags but as a gavroche. A format I have never tried - add to bag or walk away? (I walked away slowly and with tears and I looked back at least 5x). @laurenad strongly advised I stay strong and someday my prince (size 70cm) will come.
Foxy - you have captured my sickness perfectly! This is a terrible habit for someone who leans toward having ocd tendencies. But what fun!

Hello, dear Scarfies ♡

Yesterday I wear my first Carrè 70, Promenade de Paris.

I matched this scarf with yellow sweater, my DH said that I look like an egg yolk... OMG

It was SOTD of another day.
(I think I should buy a Gris colored pullover.. haha  )

First time, I was concerned that this scarf would be limited to make various knots and underutilized because it's smaller than ordinary Carrè 90. But I was worried for nothing! Actually, It's easier to make casual knots than Carrè 90, I think. I especially love this lively yellow-striped hem ♡

Wish you have a wonderful Wednesday! The place where I live has gotten very cold and now the temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius. Take care of your health, dear Scarfies ♡
I love this scarf. This colorway is perfect on you. And your DH has a good sense of humor!

Just for fun, two more categories:

One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most about scarves is creating and playing around with knots. I don’t think I’m particularly great at this, certainly not in the way that some others are, but it’s just fun. Sometimes I envision a knot in my head and try it, fail, but accidentally come up with something else that I like even more. My favorite knot award goes to this beauty, which I like the most with my Foret.

And my last award is what I like to call the “you almost got away” award, which I give to my Jardin a Sintra. I bought this scarf as a compromise color that I convinced myself wasn’t really a compromise (it was), then opened the box, didn’t like it, told myself I liked it, secretly hated it, then complained about it multiple times, then decided to sell it and even listed it, then woke up and decided I loved it and freaked out that someone might buy it, then harassed Foxy Trini by sending her multiple pictures of me wearing the scarf over the course of days asking her if this scarf is better than I thought, then decided it looked good with camel, and ultimately kind of fell in love with it. It was a close call, JaS, but now you’re mine forever! Special thanks to Foxy for indulging what is clearly my total lunacy, but I figured if anyone can understand this madness, it’s all of you!

I'm glad you kept it too - it's beautiful on you!
Really enjoying all your scarf awards - lovey way to end/begin the year.

A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all!

In my Liberty lockdown PJs and clearly, this Year's Most Enabling Scarf Award goes to... all-red Act

Last but not least my CSGM of the Year - PeF, and not only because it was my only CSGM bought this year (although there is that)

Spectacular PT!
You're the second (or 8th) person to make me regret not pouncing on LA in that cw... WHAT WAS I THINKING?!? :panic:
Buying vintage is usually a gamble for me. I'm still not convinced that the bright green in several of my vintage scarves is really "me" but I can't state definitively either that it isn't me

Your Venerie is such a beautiful cw, Cookie! Love the hounds coursing the border.
Thank you xincinsin - those hounds are my favorite part of the scarf!
Cookie, that jacquard! You wear them so well... They are exquisite and I am forever in awe before them... When oh when will one of these treasures be mine? I need this jacquard in my life!
Thank you!
(there's one on Posh right now with a green border, it looks lovely and ohsotempting - but it would violate one of my rules (and srsly I gotta have a couple rules or I'd just buy everything), so I'm just watching it. To torture myself... )
You have a wonderful sense of color -- all these look amazing on you.

Ughhhh that really sucks. I must have bought ~20 scarves from TRR in the past few years, and I have never had any issues. I do know it's hit or miss though...

Very cool. Do you know anything about the tarot cards? I would love to learn about the ones on this scarf. I understand that they all have a meanng.

Wow, that Parure is entirely jealousy-inducing. It looks beyond amazing.

23 scarves -- not bad!!! The ones you are wearing really suit you -- here is to a great 2021 year, too!
Thank you! I am thrilled with it!
It's one of those scarves that when you see it resting in the drawer, you give an internal sigh of love.

thank you, Bunnycat!

thank you, Sammy, and nice to be a sister on this one!

twins with you, it is a lovely scarf!

JL is not for me, but love it on you! Especially the DD.

hello twin and thank you (it was after a busy night on call)! :hugs:

lovely styling, twin, and your scarf ring is great!

both are great scarves and I always admire your knots, Laurenad!

those pyjamas are a dream, papertiger!

you look great, AnnaE.

hm, a year ago I would not have known about it, but I do recognise this feeling now...

What a perfect combination, thank you for sharing, Pallida!
Thank you!

That is a spectacular pairing - I love it!!
And welcome welcome welcome, we're thrilled you're here!
(now I *really* need a pair of Liberty jammies! :giggle:)
SOTD is Promenade à Versailles. A bit off topic as I bought other 90 cm carrés I like more. Also tried one of Yoon’s knots (but need more practice).

Gorgeous color on you, and I think you've done a fab job on the knot!
L’Entente Cordiale, as requested (wrinkled since I just took it off). Without context, it seems like a romantic scarfView attachment 4941180
Ahhhh - how lovely and detailed!

Off topic: this doesn't win any award except for New Format Virgin
My very first outing with my very first Maxi Twilly - Guepards.
As you can see, I really like this shade of red :P
