My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Hello, dear Scarfies ♡

Yesterday I wear my first Carrè 70, Promenade de Paris.

I matched this scarf with yellow sweater, my DH said that I look like an egg yolk... OMG

It was SOTD of another day.
(I think I should buy a Gris colored pullover.. haha :) )

First time, I was concerned that this scarf would be limited to make various knots and underutilized because it's smaller than ordinary Carrè 90. But I was worried for nothing! Actually, It's easier to make casual knots than Carrè 90, I think. I especially love this lively yellow-striped hem ♡

Wish you have a wonderful Wednesday! The place where I live has gotten very cold and now the temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius. Take care of your health, dear Scarfies ♡

I had mostly good experiences with TRR, with one exception.

I have spent a lot of time during 2020 looking for Giverny, and was pretty excited to find a "Pristine" version on TRR. Other than the shipping wrinkles the front was beautiful. But the tag was hanging literally by a thread and there was a small section with these snags on the back. So I sent it back with my comments on the return slip. A week later it was back on the site, listed still as "Pristine". I rebounded and purchased a different CW from another seller which is nice enough, but I wish the first one had worked out as I liked it better.

I guess The One that Got Away Award goes to Giverny.

I have had two bad experiences with TRR. In the most recent, I purchased a Cosmos from them that turned out to be fake. In a phone call, I explained to the service associate it was fake. When I returned it, I wrote a note explaining the ways you could tell it was fake. They relisted it. Now I am leery of purchasing from them.

Your Giverny is a beautiful colorway. Congrats on locating something you looked long and hard for.

Hello! I have been lurking on the forums for a while and would like to finally come out of the shadows to thank everyone for all of the positivity here over the past year. Scarf collecting was an even more enjoyable refuge for me than usual, and the photos and insight shared here are always helpful in making decisions and igniting inspiration. Thank you!

My New Year's Rescarfolution for 2021 is to devote more energy to enjoying the scarves I already have. I have been collecting at full steam for a few years now and have reached the point where I feel that my collection is almost "complete" (whatever that means!), so I want to slow down and luxuriate in the details of all of the beautiful scarves that I am so lucky to already own.

Speaking of details, I couldn't resist twinning with @papertiger in my Liberty robe and my 2020 award-winner for Most Whimsical Acquisition - Au Fil de la Soie. Come to think of it, this scarf might be my all-time winner in the Most Meta Silk category, and this image might just up the ante. Thanks for the inspiration!

So pleased you've come out of the shadows!

:ghi5: my Liberty silk twin

ETA - the gavroche I’m letting go with all the willpower I can muster. Sigh so beautiful and sassy!
I'll let you in on something interesting. I have Printemps Ete in what looks like the same cw in both gav and 70 cm. The sole difference between the two is the hem. They have different colour contrast hems!

those pyjamas are a dream, papertiger!

omigoodness! I love the Act iii with the PJ look!

Thank you both :flowers:

OMG, I'm feeling all enabled again! Thank you for that lovely pic, papertiger.
Maybe I should buy Liberty PJs! (or buy rose-tinted glasses...)

All would be very suitably Midsomer Night's Dream-y

Where does one get Liberty PJs?!!

Liberty ;) They come in silk or cotton

There is that red Acte III staring right at me... I love it so much, and have a feeling it will end up being mine... The other two are so fabulous! Great choices

The red was the must-have for me. I have the very festive bright red/jade green version and the blue/yellow with the strong turquoise too, both picked-up a bit more spontaneously. Could be the design of the the year, even though not the most worn (that award would go to dark green Tattersale charity scarf)

Matching scarf to pj’s- Thank You! :happydance:
A New Year’s resolution that I never imagined I’d ever have. 2021 is going to be interesting...

PJs used to be my thing, even going out when I was 14 (M&S cotton brown polkadot were my favourite then). I think it was all the pyjama parties I went to after school. I was either in a school uniform or PJs. I'm glad this year has given me a chance to revisit a style of my youth, if not much else of good cheer.

4 of the scarves that joined me this year were vintage jacquards - I love the jacquards. Sadly 2 left not too after their purchase because they were not good colors for me. The 2 remaining deserve Oscarfs.
Best Supporting Scallop Jacquard (and the most puzzling*) - Alliance Franco-Anglais.

The Oscarf for Scallop Jacquard Vintage Beauty goes to Venerie des Princes.

*I couldn’t find this scarf for a long time in the Piwigo catalogue, but I knew it was H, and in the scallop jacquard. Do you know how long it can take to go through on random searches, looking at tiny, often blurry photo? The listing had terrible pictures and the seller was - erm - less than helpful. I didn’t pay much (@Redbirdhermes this would qualify for the Best for Least award too) and was a little worried it was going to be a disaster. It was in excellent condition though, just a little musty and wrinkled. Another question about it is, when was it produced? Piwigo has it as 1940, but our learned MT thinks it’s from the early 60’s because of the jacquard.
Both are exquisite, Cookie!

I just reviewed this year’s haul (:coolio:) and I not only added several scarves to my collection, but also several formats:
Gavroches (6)
CSGMs (2)
GTCS (1)
140 Silk Plume (1), and
Bandanas (2).
I also increased my 70s by 5, the first of which is Tigre Royal Fleuri, purchased on Jan 29 on Broad St H in NYC, and the last of which is today, Les Bassetts. I’m sorry to say I don’t know if LB is going to work out.
I also acquired another Maxi-Twilly Cut, two twillies, two plisses, two GTs, and several 90s. The awards for me will be expressed over the next couple of days. Meanwhile, here is scarf mail, Les Bassetts. View attachment 4940850View attachment 4940849View attachment 4940851

Twins with you on LB......so you must keep! Just kidding....we seem to be twins on so many....
I like how you are wearing in the last pic. Very chic.
Try pairing it with something grey!
I’ve taken a quick pic of how I wore mine last week. I liked it with a grey sweater as it seemed to pull out the grays in the dogs.

[Still catching up on older posts...]

Very glam (I am so punny)! Seems like a perfect New-Year's-Party-at-home look!

You seem to be an endless source of winter scarves! Love this one.

Looks beautiful on you! Welcome.

The tansu certainly seems like it's bursting at the seems with so many pretties

Indeed!

Excuse me, ma'am, are we sure that red scarf was meant for you and not for me?!!

Lovely -- don't think I have seen this cw before
Yes, I am ... that was only a few of them, Anna.

One of my purchases this year is L’Entente Cordiale. In French, it means ‘cordial agreement,’ and there were several such agreements that took place over the year. It refers specifically to the relationship between the UK and France. In 1843, Queen Victoria visited king Louis-Philippe at the Château d’Eu. This was the first a British sovereign visited France since Henry VIII (which was in 1532 if I am not mistaken, and it had largely to do with Henry figuring out how to get rid of his first wife in favor of Anne Boleyn).

The meeting took place at Chateau d’Eu in Normandy, and this scarf was a special edition dedicated to that, I assume to the 150th anniversary of the visit. It’s a 1994 edition by Loïc Dubigeon.View attachment 4941099
A great scarf, love it!
