My very best wishes to everyone for the New Year to all SOTD regulars, occasional posters and newcomers alike  .

The SOTD 2021 thread is now open and ready for business:

The new theme commences tomorrow (3 Jan - whenever your time zone gets there) but there's no reason why you can't post earlier if you want.

Gorgeous pic....it's like dipping your fingers into a bag of bonbons and not knowing which to pick as they're all delicious!
I pick them all, bwaaahahaha!

You are right, Langsam, this is a great design!
It took a while to grow on me, but when I fell, I fell hard.

oh BRAVO! This is my favorite design, and I am watching for another cw still, it’s beautiful!
Oh, I hope you find the cw you want @Cookiefiend !

Beautiful choices Langsam!
Thank you kindly @bunnycat !

I with you on the LOVE for this design. I cannot say out loud how many of the 90s and CSGMs have ended up in my colllection but will say that I have no regrets! I honestly think this white 90 colorway with the yellow/grey feathers is a hidden treasure.
I agree! Something about the supersoft gray frond-y feathers in the corner, and the subtle gradations among the densely packed central feathers, is magical.

Great choice! Such an incredible design! And, you chose marvelous CWs... I meant to add another 90, and need to hurry up about that!
Thanks! In case you need enabling, there's still a decent selection on h.com, I think they restocked recently.

Hello! I have been lurking on the forums for a while and would like to finally come out of the shadows to thank everyone for all of the positivity here over the past year. Scarf collecting was an even more enjoyable refuge for me than usual, and the photos and insight shared here are always helpful in making decisions and igniting inspiration. Thank you!

My New Year's Rescarfolution for 2021 is to devote more energy to enjoying the scarves I already have. I have been collecting at full steam for a few years now and have reached the point where I feel that my collection is almost "complete" (whatever that means!), so I want to slow down and luxuriate in the details of all of the beautiful scarves that I am so lucky to already own.

Speaking of details, I couldn't resist twinning with @papertiger in my Liberty robe and my 2020 award-winner for Most Whimsical Acquisition - Au Fil de la Soie. Come to think of it, this scarf might be my all-time winner in the Most Meta Silk category, and this image might just up the ante. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wonderful! Please do share your collection with us as you enjoy it during 2021. I’d love to see it.

Cracking up in bed langsam!! It’s those decision tree questions that only a true scarfie can help you mock up a pro/con list or ask you the leading questions where you fall into a decision “on your own”. Example -Should I love it or list it ? I haven’t worn it in months or I saw another cw I now want more? Should I get that other cw anyway and just turn this design into a collection multiple? Or my personal fave - the omg the design I want I just found for a super low price but it’s not my desired colorway - add to bag or walk away? Or the omg this grail scarf showed up tonight on a resale site the price is fair isn’t it? I mean it’s like 5 seasons old and scarce! Add to bag or walk away? An hour ago I had a scarfmergency not a drill, a real one when printemps 69/ete 70 showed up on the bay new with tags but as a gavroche. A format I have never tried - add to bag or walk away? (I walked away slowly and with tears and I looked back at least 5x). @laurenad strongly advised I stay strong and someday my prince (size 70cm) will come.
Haha, you have captured the phenomenon perfectly!

Congrats on your auFdelaS! It glorious and a perfect compliment with your Liberty PJs!

Like RBH- I am a huge fan of Les Artisans d'H and am giving it the award for Best New Design for 2020 in my scarf stash, tied here in one of the knots the lovely @Yoon daily scarf showed us the other day.

I also have created a very special category. Some of you may remember that I have been through SEVERAL attempts at finding *my* Jungle Love. I started with a deep red Dip Dye a few years ago, but always had trouble tying it to see enough of the cats....so it got re-homed. Then I tried a 70cm cotton charm, and still, I couldn't really get enough of what I wanted to see in it, plus---borders...just not a fan!

Since I am not a fan of borders, and knew I was going to have to accept them or keep waiting for a format I liked (had sooooo many hopes for a Jungle Love Maxi twilly....) especially when Jungle Love Rainbow came out.

Finally, I decided none of that was going to materialize, and then JL Love also got released. So I decided twillies was going to have to be "close enough" and got not just one but both JLR and JLL twillies while they were out together earlier in the year. Right after that, I found an older pocket square for a great deal NWT. And thought..."well why not?" Surely 3 JL is now good enough!

Another bit of shortliness after that I found the 90cm JL Dip Dye (also for a great deal) and figured "well, I can at least see the cats better, and there is some color variation here, and I don't hate the purple border....plus SALES GOGGLES" :woot:

Me: Now! I am fine...I have 2 twillies, a pocket square and a 90. I know I missed out on that CSGM I SHOULD have gotten but these will be fine!

.....
:roflmfao:
.....

Due to procrastination I had missed a GREAT deal on a red/black/white CSGM, which I then found *again* some time later for also a pretty good deal and did not hit BIN fast enough that time. Foiled *again* on the CSGM front!

Me: Oh come on! You have enough JL! :wtf:

Also me: No....I really don't....

Me:

And so the search continued until I located one of the old color ways I had been interested in, since the giant tattoo hadn't really called my name hard enough....

And so I present my award for Best Overreactive Scarf Purchasing with a total of 5 Jungle Loves in one year (and I would not say no to some other format should it ever come out.... )

W:loveeyes:W! Utter JL fabulousness...
the Dip Dye is completely :faint:

Stunning choice! So cozy- but also a little edgy!
thank you, Bunnycat!

Sisters with you! It looks lovely on you!!
thank you, Sammy, and nice to be a sister on this one!

I just reviewed this year’s haul (:coolio:) and I not only added several scarves to my collection, but also several formats:
Gavroches (6)
CSGMs (2)
GTCS (1)
140 Silk Plume (1), and
Bandanas (2).
I also increased my 70s by 5, the first of which is Tigre Royal Fleuri, purchased on Jan 29 on Broad St H in NYC, and the last of which is today, Les Bassetts. I’m sorry to say I don’t know if LB is going to work out.
I also acquired another Maxi-Twilly Cut, two twillies, two plisses, two GTs, and several 90s. The awards for me will be expressed over the next couple of days. Meanwhile, here is scarf mail, Les Bassetts. View attachment 4940850View attachment 4940849View attachment 4940851

JL is not for me, but love it on you! Especially the DD.

Twins with you! I like the casual styling here. So Cozy.
hello twin and thank you (it was after a busy night on call)! :hugs:

Twins with you on LB......so you must keep! Just kidding....we seem to be twins on so many....
I like how you are wearing in the last pic. Very chic.
Try pairing it with something grey!
I’ve taken a quick pic of how I wore mine last week. I liked it with a grey sweater as it seemed to pull out the grays in the dogs.

lovely styling, twin, and your scarf ring is great!

Just for fun, two more categories:

One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most about scarves is creating and playing around with knots. I don’t think I’m particularly great at this, certainly not in the way that some others are, but it’s just fun. Sometimes I envision a knot in my head and try it, fail, but accidentally come up with something else that I like even more. My favorite knot award goes to this beauty, which I like the most with my Foret.

And my last award is what I like to call the “you almost got away” award, which I give to my Jardin a Sintra. I bought this scarf as a compromise color that I convinced myself wasn’t really a compromise (it was), then opened the box, didn’t like it, told myself I liked it, secretly hated it, then complained about it multiple times, then decided to sell it and even listed it, then woke up and decided I loved it and freaked out that someone might buy it, then harassed Foxy Trini by sending her multiple pictures of me wearing the scarf over the course of days asking her if this scarf is better than I thought, then decided it looked good with camel, and ultimately kind of fell in love with it. It was a close call, JaS, but now you’re mine forever! Special thanks to Foxy for indulging what is clearly my total lunacy, but I figured if anyone can understand this madness, it’s all of you!

both are great scarves and I always admire your knots, Laurenad!

Really enjoying all your scarf awards - lovey way to end/begin the year.

A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all!

those pyjamas are a dream, papertiger!

One of my purchases this year is L’Entente Cordiale. In French, it means ‘cordial agreement,’ and there were several such agreements that took place over the year. It refers specifically to the relationship between the UK and France. In 1843, Queen Victoria visited king Louis-Philippe at the Château d’Eu. This was the first a British sovereign visited France since Henry VIII (which was in 1532 if I am not mistaken, and it had largely to do with Henry figuring out how to get rid of his first wife in favor of Anne Boleyn).

The meeting took place at Chateau d’Eu in Normandy, and this scarf was a special edition dedicated to that, I assume to the 150th anniversary of the visit. It’s a 1994 edition by Loïc Dubigeon.View attachment 4941099

How interesting. Love the way you tied it to show some of the gold detail along with a healthy dose of red. It seems to act as it’s own necklace (which I love to add to most scarves).

Welcome! That is a really nice match.

Thank you! I am already planning my scarf life around the 2021 SOTD themes, so I hope that this is the first of many posts to come.

Excellent! Remember that there is absolutely no need to follow the themes, they are just for fun. We love scarves, whether on topic or not :)

Both utterly gorgeous! Chic knot on the first. I'm a happy twin with that cw of Sintra - it's not a normal cw for me but am so delighted to have it as it is just so unusual. Every time I wear it I coo with delight.
