Why is it that you can look so good wearing a scarf this way?? I tried this, and I think I might be mistaken for either a beggar or a peasant.

Actually, you can do it! You just need to tie it tighter!

And, here’s my contribution to the headscarf with Regina proving that @AnnaE .... you are the undisputed queen
View attachment 4625333

This has a lot of headscarf potential! I personally really like

Au contraire. The trick is to wear sunglasses with the scarf tied under the chin. Jackie-O style.

She looks good. Jackie O relied on sunglasses to take her look to the next level. If you are the Queen of England, you don't need an accessory like sunglasses to pull off a scarf tied under the chin. Just being yourself is quite enough.

yes yes my Ukrainian grandmother thinks she is like the queen of England, too!

Try this and let me now if this needs more instructions / photos:

  • Standard bias fold, I fold until the width is around 4 inches / 10cm
  • Twist the entire length of the scarf fairly tightly
  • Put around your neck, twist the loose ends even more around each other until a 'flower' is formed
  • Enjoy!
It should be tighter and more structured at first, it loosens up within a few hours like it did in my photo!

Thanks!! Will try this stat

Acquired a bunch of scarves in 2019, and learned a lot from all of you while doing so:
1) Love, love, love 70’s and added several this year.
2) Love those cute gavroches (this is your fault @Cookiefiend!). Added several of these too.
3) Mistakes, I’ve made a few, but they can be rehomed.

Grail of the Year and Oscarf announced tomorrow!
ChocolatChaud, Index Palarum is so beautiful, esp in that particular colorway. Looking forward to seeing your GOTY and Oscarf.

“Ukrainian grandmother” — respectfully— is exactly what I thought when last I tied a “regular” way or the pirate way. Only the Jackie O tie saves me from such a fate (I keep telling myself, anyway; it’s all in the jowl control ).
A Real favorite grail from 2019 purchases: Toile d’Hermes, moussie stole, 2005.

Happy New Year scarfies!

The 2020 thread is up and running so you can view the topics for the upcoming year below. :dothewave:

https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...h-hermes-scarf-are-you-wearing-today.1022369/

It's locked for now, and we'll reopen it when I close this one at the end of the week. Enjoy the remaining days of the 2019 thread for now!

My Best Small Format from 2019 was definitely the Ex Libris Bandana Organza Mousseline:

And like a few others, my Best for 90cm format goes to Animapolis:

Ex Libris Bandana is such a cutie! Adorable.
Happy New Year! Wishing everyone on this marvelous thread a wonderful 2020 and decade full of silken dreams come true!
My SOTD on the first day of the year is Into the Canadian Wild. This was one of my most precious scarf purchases of 2019. I had seen this design multiple times at the H store, but somehow never decided on a CW and always got sidetracked. Then, sadly realized it was not available any longer and only offered at ridiculous prices on the resale market. I recently found this one new with tags on and am over the moon that it’s mine. With a few others, it wins the Finally Mine award... LOL! The owl is my Spirit Animal so I tied it showing it up front and flying this morning

Another one of my winners from last year was this marvelous CW of Flamingo Party. FP was the first scarf I ever purchased on H.com in 2015. I eventually got twoCWs and was satisfied until I saw fabulous mod pics of @Croisette7 @Cookiefiend and others here on TPF and had been looking for it ever since. Even after my lucky find of the Miami special edition at the H store, I still longed for this one. So, voilà! Another Finally Mine award winner

After much pondering about this design, so happy to welcome Sangles en Zig Zag to my collection. It has proven to be a workhorse and most versatile design. One of my treasured purchases from 2019 that has become my Fav Travel Scarf award winner. This silk goes with everything!

Gorgeous Canadian Wild colorway!

Oh, I have a lot of Grails,
I have searched over hills and dales.
When I find one of those beauties,
I race to show all you cuties!

This year, I found several,
And I’ve been ‘mostly‘ careful,
But my wallet - the poor dear -
has gone quite mental. :giggle: :panic: :giggle:

Best Supporting Grail - Fleurs d’Ecosse

And the Oscarf goes to Ex Libris en Kimonos. I never thought I’d find this - they’re always so outrageously priced - but I had been watching this one for a long time, and when she started to reduce it... I pounced once it came into my range! Woot! I love how different it looks based on how you tie it and which corners are shown - so versatile!

Omg LOVE!!
Squished into the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur shuttle for a quick trip to DH's favourite destressing spot aka mountaintop casino. Taking flight with fave scarf from SS19, the latest addition to my flock of phoenixes: Mythiques Phoenix 70.

Lovely MP 70! I recently re-homed my one and only MP as I found it much too bright and have yet to find the cw that suits me. I love your new addition!

My SOTD as I go run some errands is making it’s debut today, and I must give it the Best Border award: Panoplie Equestre. Almost every time I’ve visited the Hermès store, for over a year, I try on a different CW of this fabulous design, but they’re all so wonderful, that I’ve had a very difficult time deciding. But, finally this one is mine. Got it right before Thanksgiving and, with the holiday silks taking precedence, I had set it aside until today

And, two more to add to the Finally Mine category...
First, Les Ailes de la Soie. When I visited Hermès in Paris in 2015, this silk caught my eye, but didn’t come home with me. My passion for H scarves was just seriously beginning and I never pursued the design until it was too late and I deeply regretted it.... until this past year. So happy that it’s finally mine!

And, another silk that I’ve obsessed over ever since I saw @lanit model it, was this CW of Tsubas. I already owned two other CWs, but this one proved quite elusive. I am thrilled to have found it this past year

Congrats on finding these lovelies!! Panoplie Equestre is a beauty!

My daughter snapped this pic in October of me and my grandson inspecting the coarse fur on a sleeping black sheep.
I had just acquired my lovely Coupons Indiennes and it really pops in the photo! The design quickly became one of my favorites as it ties like a dream.

Thanks for the clarification, Cookiefiend. I don’t live near an H store. In fact, the only H I’ve ever visited is the one in LHR. But I will check them out on H.com. And someday visit H (Madison Ave, most likely) to try on these formats!
The Madison Ave store is great, but you will have more fun, and be more comfortable playing with different scarves, at the newer Meatpacking store.

Hi, friends! I have been feeling pretty under the weather with a cold — I haven’t had one in a really long time, and I am not feeling particularly pleased with myself. Ugh. Hope everyone else had a better start of 2020!

I did get first scarf mail of the year though — Les Ballets Russes (in the photo with glasses, also new). Plus a few random assorted photos from the past week.
Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell - that's just no fun! But you look fab and I love the new glasses!

I love photos like this - it's so real.
I mean I *know* it's real but it shows an everyday sort of life enhanced by:
A) Grand babies!
B) An Hermes!
C) You're in a barn petting sheep!
D) Beautiful scarf!
Thank you so much for sharing - I love it!

Oh, thank you, momasaurus! I appreciate the tip. I’m quite intimidated to go to Mad Av, but less than I was before I went to LHR, where I was treated very nicely. I would enjoy an experience in the meat packing district, I know.

Plus, after an exhausting morning of shopping for just one special scarf, with my wallet almost in a coma, I can complete the event with lunch at Pastis!!

2019 was a banner year for scarf acquisitions! I was able to find several of my personal grails this year (but have added some new ones to find in 2020 after seeing all of your lovely photos!)

Runners up for Grail of the Year were:

Tohu Bohu and Ex Libris en Kimonos (not the best color sweater to show these off)

Les Toits de Paris (someday I may find the darker blue with the orange chimneys – at a price not requiring sales of any important organs)
02602AE1-2344-4CA7-AA5E-883753C2AE48.jpeg

Passage a Moscou (I LOVE Croisette’s CW of this design, but know I can’t pull off the paler colors; then I found the blue).
5095388A-CB98-44BE-9AAA-9C4ECC26213B.jpeg

Winner of Grail of the Year is: La Femme Aux Semelles de Vent. This scarf is such a chameleon – it works with so much in my closet.
636842B8-2F17-47A7-85C1-DF19019C3761.jpeg

And the Oscarf goes to: Minuit au Faubourg 70cm. As mentioned yesterday, I have fallen hard for 70’s ~ the size is good for me and I love the feel of the vintage silk. And I think they work with my more casual outfits. I added this design in 2 other colorways, but this one eluded me for quite a while ~ I think it was worth the wait!
