What a great intro, Cookiefiend. I love The Snow Queen and HCA’s many compelling and beautiful stories. What came immediately to my mind with this week’s theme is the snowflakes pas d’ensemble (my term; I don’t think this is an actual ballet variation term) in the Nutcracker ( “Valse des flocons de neige”), where the
snowflake ballerinas dance and pirouette through the forest. The music is just stunning and one of Tchaikovsky’s very brilliant and special compositions, with it’s sounds of fleeting, swirling wind and snow. I’m quite in love with it. I will model what pale scarves I have later.... :flowers:
That is actually my favorite part of the Nutcracker. And even more magical when they drop “snowflakes” as they dance and there are voices as well.

Good morning Scarflandia! This weeks theme is going to be a lovely one.
ICE QUEEN - Grey, white, ivory, pale scarves.

The lovely calm and cool, serene colors. A certain shade of light on a sunny morning, or the dusk of a summer evening. A snowy evening, with a winter storm on the way - can make you feel a chill in your bones!

The Snow Queen is a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, published in December 1844 - When the Snow Queen, a lonely and powerful fairy, kidnaps a human boy Kay, his best friend Gerda must overcome many obstacles on her journey to rescue him. When she finds him, she must melt the ice chips in his heart and in his eye.

As a child, I loved the idea of a Snow Queen whirling around the snowy world. There is a movie from 1957 by Nikolay Frodorov that I watched in the 60’s - hosted by Art Linkletter - and was fascinated by... I watched it last week though and it didn’t have quite the cache as it did then, but the Snow Queen was beautiful still.
My first pale beauty - Cheval de Charactere

The White Witch - Jadis - froze Narnia in the Hundred Years Winter. I loved all the Narnia stories as a child, and still have those books in my library - I know I’m a total nerd!

I look forward to seeing everyone’s pale beauties!
Wonderful intro. And your filigraine is gorgeous on you. Unfortunately I avoid pale scarves, so I will be mostly just watching everyone’s beauties this week.

What a lovely intro, Cookie ... and a beautiful white witch!
Your Filigrane is gorgeous on you. My SOTD is Paperoles:

Lovely intro Cookie! I just love that Filigrane. (Still kicking myself that I saw it in boutique and was too shy to ask to get it out of the case because I had already spent so much that day!)

Hello scarf cousin!!! :hugs: Beautiful!

Scarfies, how long do the boutiques keep scarves from previous seasons in their cases? Until they are gone? Or do they have to send them back to H? Someone was asking me about Space Shopping from A/W 2017 and I didn’t know whether they might still have one lurking in a boutique somewhere or if they would all be gone by now.

I was told that my store keeps scarves for four seasons.

Bride de Gala Love today
I just noticed: is that a tiny H paperbag charm hanging on your Kelly? That's so sweet!

Such loveliness, Cookie! Wish I'd suffered from some FOMO when Filigrane was issued. I ogled it online till it disappeared. And speaking of how long the boutiques keep their stock, I just remembered that the local H sale only has 90s. What happens to all the other formats, and the men's goodies? :confused1:

Quoting @xincinsin
“Very often, I look right past a scarf until something sparks my interest. I ignored Galop Volant until, one day, I realized that it was based on Tang dynasty pottery figurines. And while nerdily doing research for this week's theme, I spotted the dancers on it. No doubt I will learn more about the design in future. That's what I like about H scarves - they are not just some random assortment of drawings.”
Yes! This keeps me coming back to this forum! Thank you!
Scarves For Nerds and I Buy H Because It's Pretty - new theme weeks
