Like many other scarfies, I have trouble letting go of scarves which don't work for me. Sometimes, they have memories attached. Sometimes, I spent so long tracking that design down that re-homing it seems a betrayal of my efforts. And also, like many of us, I started off thinking that I'll buy just one
This was my "one".

I love the design of Caraibes, but this blue really didn't do anything for me. I collected scarves before I ever wore them. And when you buy them as art, you don't have to pay attention to whether or not they suit you. I wanted to wear my H scarves. So I had to learn which colours suited me, which shades of those same colours made me look like a Halloween escapee, and which colours I should just admire on others.
I still admire that Caraibes but I just took the major (for me) step to rehome it. First H scarf I bought. First H scarf I am rehoming.
I love the way things have shifted for you! Beautiful Serva!
Very elegant Serva1!
I have maximum respect for those who are able to let scarves go. I just can't bring myself to do it! Those I have bought that don't bring me joy I just lay aside in the hope that as I age and my colouring needs change they may be welcomed back into the fold ( excuse the bad pun there! ).
You have a fantastic collection BC.
Oh, how brave of you! I'm still on the verge of not being able to part with any of my scarves. I still can't imagine ever doing that. It is a 90 cm square,,,Love the scarf. Is this the mens pocket square or a different one????
Hello! Glad to read these comments that talk about having H scarves that are beautiful, but don’t necessarily work as clothing accessories. One of my very first scarves, Paperoles in a gorgeous gold/wheat colorway with a stunning purple hem, is just too fancy to wear much. I’ve worn it about 3x. Everytime I think I should sell it, I find it’s beauty too much to part with. Here’s a pic:Oh, how brave of you! I'm still on the verge of not being able to part with any of my scarves. Fab intro! And are those your college pics? Super cute!!!!This week is definitely going to be full of introspection. I haven't been collecting as long you you have, but my tastes have shifted fairly dramatically.
My journey with H silks started with twillies for my bags and MTs. I did get a couple of 90cm silks as presents and inherited some too, but I didn’t really buy them myself until about 2016 when I was obsessed with solid colour CS or CSGMs that would match perfectly with a bag. Nowadays that isn’t enough, the design itself is important, how they fold etc.
This year I have been obsessed with moussies, bought my first on in January and this is my latest, number 3, bought in June when I was on a cruise. Before this year I couldn’t even touch a mousseline, let alone wear one. I always liked the pics here on tPF, but only got the courage when H stopped the production. I kind of realized it’s now or never and that they cannot be so delicate.
I'll probably spend a good chunk of time reminiscing this week. The end of the year is a great time for that and this will give me some excuse to plow through my scarf drawer(s) and explore.
One of my first purchase was this twilly (after being sure as shootin' that small formats were the only thing that could interest me...) Bouclerie d'Attelage. It has since found a new home (though in retrospect I shold have kept it as it goes with several bags....oh well...hindsight...I do still have and wear the t-shirt tho...it's a fav...)
One of my very first SotD pics! (And to all who have been participating in SotD since then- my sincere thanks and appreciation for always making me feel so welcome in Scarflandia!)

Gorgeous photos @AnnaE and lovely intro. One thing that has not changed is your glamorous-ness!
Looking gorgeous Anna. What beautiful photos - and you really suit a bob!
Thank you Pautinka, I have two shoeboxes of twillies I don’t use but still cannot let them go. I can give some to friends and family. As long as I have space for storing them it isn’t a problem. It’s very difficult to let go.
This was my very first 90, purchased about 3 years ago, I think. I wish I’d kept a diary but at the time I did not think this would be the ‘slippery slope’ my love of H scarves has become!
I didn't know this was a cotton! The colors are really nice and saturated!
Here's the link for the steps for the infinity knot I wore yesterday. (Remember it's a no chat thread- so feel free to respond here if you like!)

And today, mostly on topic with Grand Prix du Faubourg. A race is a bit like a game, but there are plenty of beach balls and balloons as well.

I had fun wrapping the Sieste au Paradis scarf 140 around my head today. One skill out of the ordinary that needs to be done more frequently.
Then I realized I needed a new style of earring to complete the look.![]()
This is my Amours. It might not be clear in this photo but the jacquard shows a toy - a kite!

And in an old Ledoux design Chansons de France, there are children having fun, dancing in a circle, singing "En passant pa la Lorraine".

Great idea, AnnaE, thanks for that. You can still start a diaryI have a list of all my scarves, although I don't have the purchasing dates. Maybe I should keep them. You can probably pull purchase dates from credit card statements and emails from eBay / resellers if that is your route as well.
Great idea. Too late for me to remember when or where purchased, but I will keep prices too if I find the receipts. The first one is spring semester senior year, yes -- I think this was my outfit for heading to NYC to look at apartments to rent with my then-boyfriend, now-husband. Google Photos is a good way to figure things out like that!
Thanks for sharing -- interestingly enough, I started gravitating more towards solid colors recently, so I am sort of repeating your journey in reverse. I am glad you enjoy the mousselines, they are so amazing!
We are quite similar in that we seem to have moved towards brighter, higher-contrast designs over the years. Hermes has made it easier as well, with all the brighter dyes they are using.
Thanks -- I got super lucky! Both with languages skills and the scarf
Oh man, thanks! I wouldn't be comfortable using that term myself, but hey
Thank you -- I liked the bob, too! But it was giant pain to maintain... I like being able to put my hair up for workouts etc.
I have some twillies, too. Some permanently live on sun hats (useful thing in Calufornia), but some are just sitting there. I always thought I will one day grow into 'adult' bags and put a twilly on them, but now that I have, turns out, I like mine twilly-free.

I am amazed you managed this. I can barely handle wrapping a 140 around my shoulders! Nice work.
