My next favorite for this year is a VERY sentimental choice. Back in I think 2006/7, my oldest granddaughter Justine, had a wonderful woldog. Maska was about 85% wolf and just really affectionate with the whole extended family. He ran away in late November 2010. They lived on a farm...didn't have a fenced yard. In mid December 2010 my DIL found his body under a backyard shed. He had been hit by a car.

In September 2011, my granddaughter Justine was involved in a fatal auto accident.

So.......in remembrance of Justine and her Maska, I purchased Awoo.

Dear @bobkat1991, my heart broke to read of your Justine and her Maska. Awoooo is a beautiful way to keep them close to you. Thank you for sharing this precious sentiment with us.

While I bought a lot of scarves this year (for me), I have been very happy with all but one....which I like a lot but haven't worn all that much. The others have all gotten a lot of use.

My last offerings for this week. But before I show the silk, a quick teaser for tomorrow.
We are welcoming more scarfies to Team Scarf Mistress and one of them is going to introduce the last theme for 2018. You are going to love her (correction - we already adore her!). So get ready your Scarves of the Year and let us cross over to 2019 in style! :coolio:

Now for my last few feathers and ribbons:
Cent Plis de Miao: these pleated skirts are fastened round the waist with a long handwoven ribbon, and the border is embroidered and appliqued with ribbon.

And this is a 2-for-the-price-of-1 deal! (For our green-eyed scarfies), Belle Epoque features a feathered fan in the centre and ribbons curling round the border. So with a bit of adjustment, I could have feathers+ribbon round my neck ;)

Nice to see Belle Epoque again! In my decades of collecting I owned it for a while. So you're right about green-eyed favs!

Wishing everyone a wonderful and Happy New Year or Hogmanay from Scotland.

Thank you to scarf mistresses for their hard work and dedication and each and every one of you, contributors to this thread. Thank you also to my shopping accomplices.

I ended up with 3 Act IIIs this season as well as other new scarves that were more atypical and pushed my boundaries as well as a very meaningful, vintage gift. I have no concept of which new to me scarves came this year or last, silk is a slippery thing but they've all earned their place.

Waving 2018 goodbye and embracing 2019 with one of my favourite scarves bought this year but belonging more to next.

Gotta keep everything in Perspectives, a site specific scarf for all occasions and all places.
I love your photos, dear @papertiger. You make them look so unique and, dare I say, epic! :hugs:Now, I'm tempted by Perspectives and it's not even on my short list!
happy New Year everyone!
Reflecting on 2018 - I purchased quite a few items, but less than in previous years. Right now I am pretty satisfied with what I have, and plan to buy even less in 2019.

This year I focused on mousselines- mainly moussie stoles as that is my favorite format. ( will feature in another post)
And also CSGM.
I love the Samurais design, and immediately fell for the BLUE CWs ( duh!), but they were never available when I went to my local H. Finally in May I found the caban/ salmon one in NYC, and later the Blue/ grey one in London.

Then, in September I bought my first men’s CS 100- Awooo! Fell in love as soon as I put it on. This is probably MVP as I have already worn it often, I find the lesser amount of fabric really easy, and perfect for California climate. Plus the colors in this go with nearly everything in my closet.

Glad you discovered and enjoy the men's 100cm cashmere-silks @scarf1. They're a favourite of mine, too. Beautiful Samourais as well. Cheers! :drinks:

This year I only bought one scarf, but it's a beauty! I've never been tempted by mousselines, because at 5-feet-nothing I've always thought all that fabric would overpower me. But lurking on the Mousselines thread last spring, I discovered that... in a universe far far away... Hermés once made PM (90cm) Mousselines!!! Yesssssss! (Elaine does a happy dance.) The hunt was on. :broom:

After a couple of intense months, I found my dream PM Moussie: Ciels Byzantins.

This is sooooooooooo gorgeous!

Always love your picks and pix! And congrats on the weight loss!
I do covet that plumes moussie. And that samourais shawl is amazing n you!

Actually, in this pic, you have minimized the brown.

Beautiful!

I didn’t realize you bought the summers day in a 90. Congrats for actually letting go of some scarves! As far as overall clothing items, I let go of a few more items than came in. However, when it comes to H, nothing left. Only new items in, LOL!

So glad you found us! Your ability to look wonderful in so many color palettes is amazing. These are both beautiful on you!
Well, letting go of more clothing than you purchased leaves plenty of room for H, right? No guilt. No need to downsize!

Hello, Scarfies!
i got a scarf mail, it's MP gav, but i am not sure about cw, i love the purple, but it feels like too much of brown, what do you think?
i am going to play with it, trying various ways of folding and knotting, but at the moment i'm 50/50 about it. Any advice/suggestions are welcome!
I think it's a very pretty and unique combination of colors that combine very well. Basing this observation on myself, I would say brown may be an underutilized wardrobe color. I am trying to work more brown into what I wear.
But the purple is so vivid it seems to me that if you pair the scarf with that the brown would be less evident to your eye, no?

Per our recent discussion on this thread about my very special Miami boutique edition of Flamingo Party, here are some shots of my three FP CWs as comparison for whoever is interested. The white was my first because I was initially seeking a more neutral CW with bright touches. Then, I became obsessed with the flamingoes in pink and found it in the cyclamen CW. Plus the oranges were orange which was something else I was looking for. I heard about the special Miami edition but never pursued it and realized my loss (pink flamingoes!!) when it was too late. Then, my SA mentioned in August as I was shopping for Baobab Cat that there was a special scarf in the back that had recently surfaced since it had somehow gotten reshuffled and filed away. When he brought it out I gasped... What?!?!?! But since I already had 2 CWs and didn’t want to duplicate if they were too similar, I had him hold it for me to think about it. Needless to say, I’m so glad that I didn’t pass on it!

Here is a group shot of all three CWs

This was my first FP CW which I considered to be a bit more neutral/toned down with pops of color

And this was the one I love with the pink flamingoes and orange oranges.

Looking back on 2018:

So much for “one in, one out” – I added 25 scarves to my collection and let go of 16. Some purchases were to replace a less useful CW of a design with a better one, like Elegance et Confort.
0046f15be85649c52cef3c5da5dee4c7.jpg

Some purchases were just making up for neglect in earlier seasons. We’ve all been there, right? I bought a 70 Savannah Dance and a 70 Ballet aquatique. Both are designs I loved but somehow just never got around to buying in season.

Some favorite additions from 2018:

From the boutique: 140 twill Caleche, Mors et Bouteilles. I love the size and the colors!

Act III because theater.
b74aef434fccfc8e5ee6b24f7bf46654.jpg

Sun and fun gavroche in springy colors that are so cheerful!

From resellers: Sportsmen. I love the design but I really need this in another CW. I think there is one with navy border.

Petit duc – I love the tangerine colors!
db1ce4113ae6b9fcc57fc130dce4ceeb.jpg

On a summer day 90 in graphite, blues and rose. It’s very similar to the 140 from this year and I love it.

What eye candy to see the results of your wardrobe overhaul, Moma! I especially like the first scarf w/the striped top and the Act III, it ties incredibly well. Is that the one with the sepia and bois de rose? I copied your Act III pix for my inspiration notebook.
