Has anyone have any experience taking their croc bag internationally out from sfo? Are you required to obtain a permit to bring exotics out of the country? Pls advise as I was told that a permit takes 30-90days to obtain but obviously I don’t have That much time. Many thanks

Afaik travelling under personal effects is no issue
I have been in out many countries with exotic leathers no problem at all without cites
Shipping without owner presence is another matter

No issues with taking out of SFO if 4 or fewer items (ie. as "Personal Effects") but where you're GOING matters a lot more as CITES requirements vary by country, and by type of croc/alligator. Note that the "Personal Effects" clause does not apply in the same way in every CITES member country. You're best to consult the country's customs website for wherever you're going.

Coming into the US, I've found the Dept of Fish & Wildlife to be surprisingly helpful. I just called the number on their website and someone actually returned my phone call the next day and I was able to ask all my questions -- mostly for peace of mind.
