I think we are at a disadvantage working in the SF boutique, but I know someone who spent less than 1:1 and got a B30 offer back in April (togo, neutral color in GHW too)... I don't know if that was a one-off instance and she got really lucky, but I do think it's important to be patient!

FWIW, I've spent close to 1:1 on non-leather (probably ~2:1 including leather) and my SA told me he's "working" on my QB. *shrug* Leaving it up to the Hermes gods at this point...

One question I do have you all is do you think the pre-spend needs to be from within a short period of time, or could it span over a few years? I've accepted that the pre-spend may need to be significant, but I don't believe in buying things I don't love just to satisfy the pre-spend and it takes time to find things I truly love!
There are no rules about prespend in the USA, it’s just a gauge for market competitiveness. It’s not you vs a rulebook, it’s you vs all the other clients. There needs to be a reason to give you the bag over everyone else that shops at your store who also want that bag. The reason could be you’ve spent more, you visit more often, you’ve never made a return, you were finally the one to buy that unsalable poncho that’s been on display for three years, you’ve never gotten a bag before, you’ve been shopping there the longest, it’s been three years since your last quota bag, you’re the only one who can make it to the store to purchase before the month ends tomorrow, you happen to ask right as the manager gets a second date confirmation with the hottie from the bar, or they just plain like you more for whatever reason. None of these factors alone guarantee you a bag and none of them automatically take you out of the running. Your profile doesn’t expire so just be the best well rounded easy to work with client and good things will eventually follow.

I totally agree with this... which is why I'm trying to be more zen about the whole pre-spend thing while also not have super high expectations. :giggle:

It can definitely be over longer than a few months. Some people spend over a course of a year or even two. That’s totally fine if you’re ok with waiting longer. The offer depends on the spend for sure, and some boutiques are more competitive, so I wouldn’t stop showing up and spending here and there on things you like. I’d focus on non-leather items for sure, although I know that some boutiques are ok with non-QB bags counting, it’s just less “reliable”. You definitely are keeping a nicely varied profile and that helps a lot! Good luck!

Hi all. New to the forum here—you guys have been super helpful with my journey so I wanted to share my two cents on the B/K stuff.

SF is obvi my home store living in downtown—I can literally walk to the store lol. Going through my text messages with my wonderful SA, it seems like we initially connected around Dec 2020 for some holiday shopping stuff. I was looking for very entry point priced items, such as $300-ish key rings, men's necklace/pendants, and a few caps for golfing. Over the span of 1.5 years, I purchased just 7-8 ish items that didn't cost above $500 per each item. Total spend? Probably $3K lol.

Being a dood in my 20s living in SF, I can't say luxury shopping is right up my alley. But I did connect very well with my SA due to our shared commonalities and bonded instantly. A couple months ago, I was on my way to the store to pick up my t-shirt (that was wonderfully tailored by this lady.. I forget her name) and wanted to take a look at some bags. Everything on display I did not like. And I was just googling hermes bags on my phone and found the Rock, and I told him I'd buy that. Then he took me to the private room upstairs, came out with a large box (I was exceptionally confused), and closed the doors. And—a beautiful Palladium Noir Togo B 40 HAC perfect for men.

I think I'm sharing my story because the spend level really doesn't matter as much as you think... It ultimately boils down to the rapport you build with your SA (in a genuine fashion) and even if you ain't a High Net Worth Individual, you just need to exhibit some.... potential of your as a client who could spend more in the future. It's the long game they are thinking.

I hope this was helpful! Shoot me any questions.

Thank you SO much for sharing! Super helpful. I think it also helped you were open to a bigger size. I'm hoping for good news soon but will definitely remain patient.

I'm still waiting for my offer and reading this forum has given me so much insight. I haven't gone in since April and hoping to start making small purchases again next month. Do you guys think I am at a disadvantage for taking a 4 months time break? I've started shopping since last October and is at 1:1.

So thrilled for you! I hope you post action shots if you are so inclined! Congrats!

and, I agree with everything you mentioned above too. :)

My SA went on a vacation for a month in June and we texted prior to that saying we will see when my SA comes back.

I emailed in early July with items I am looking + appointment request- No response. I texted yesterday to schedule an appointment and still no response. (I’m wondering if my SA is even back ). I checked out online appointment system and it has a field for SA name but looks like it doesn’t guarantee the SA I request for.

Has anyone went through online appointment to schedule a time with unresponsive SA? Wonder if I should wait until I hear back or just make something online and visit?
