File a disputed charge claim with your credit card company and make sure that you don't pay the Rue LaLa charge until the matter has been resolved. If RueLaLa doesn't have adequate customer service reps to deal with your issue, you can do some investigating online and figure out the corporate office and officers of RueLaLa and contact the corporate headquarters (I believe that RueLaLa is owned by Smart Bargains) or the easier way is to simply file a disputed charge claim with your credit company. Finally, you can always file a claim with the FTC alleging fraudulent activity by RueLaLa in charging you for merchandise that was never even sent to you.

I have successfully ordered from them, but your story really pisses me off. I am going to write to them and refer them to your post. I am not very hesitant to order from them again.

BTW the company is Retail Covergence,Inc and they also own Smartbargains.

Aurora 1782,

That is just horrible and no way to go through retail therapy in any way. I really feel bad for you. I did order a great winter jacket from them and it went through just fine (I do remember it took quite a long time to receive my jacket) but that doesn't mean anything, I would not order anything from them now unless I hear some great resolution from you and other positive indorsments. I hope you do the charge back with your CC, and let them feel a little and hopefully better CSR service come force from this.

Please keep us posted on this issue~

And Loehman's.....

I placed my first order with Rue La La on August 1 morning. Now it is already the end of August 5 and still my order has not been shipped. Is that normal with them? I am starting to worry since they carry only a small inventory. I certainly don't want a cancellation email later. Thanks!

The same thing happened to me! I seem to be the only one that has been unsatisfied with their service. A while back I ordered two Antik Denim jeans and they took about two weeks to ship out! I was getting a little worried but it is NORMAL. Don't worry your order will eventually come! Not to forget the jeans looked a little more different online than in person.. I was pissed and I haven't ordered anything for there ever since!

I have had nothing but a nightmare with them as well. In Jan I returned two pairs of Fendi sunglasses and required a signature for receipt for a return they said they never got, but still battled with them for a month before they processed the refund. Then I ordered RR jeans which were clearly made for outlet locations in a quality that no department store would ever stock. Around the same time I ordered a Tommy Bahama shirt for my husband, the first I have ever bought outside a department store and the collar is funky and flips up on him all the time...He has 32 other Tommy shirts with no issues, explain that!@#$% I really believe that 90% of the stuff they sell is items that are made for outlet locations and not the department store quality they would lead one to believe you are purchasing.

aurora1782, I would send in your story to the consumerist as well as starting a chargeback.

Have you seen anything started on the consumerist? I only found Smartbargains and I my issues have not been with Smartbargains or Loehman's, it's just their Rue La La segment and the standards, and misrepresentation of product they sell that I have issue with. When I purchase at Smartbargains-I am not expecting department store quality items-it's outlet and upwanted stuff, but Rue La La is presented as something "upscale" and it is not nor does they way they treat customers reflect and upscale retailer

Have not returned anything to RLL, however SB never was a problem, they sent wrong items - they pay for return and shipping and all.
I say, dispute the charge with CC pronto. Print out and save all communication regarding purchase, delay in shipping, sender interception, any UPS e-mails, print out from the UPS website of shipment progress.
Good luck and sorry.
Seems that companies are not to eager refund right away-cash flow problems could be the reason

I think people don't necessarily understand that for these sample sites, they sometimes have the sale before they have the merchandise - they don't get it from the provider until they know how much they've sold. Because of this, some orders will ship right away, but some take time. I've only placed one order with them, and I was very satisfied - moreso than I have been with Hautelook.

I have to say that lately their customer service has been VERY disappointing. Not only are they rude, but they are quite useless. They claim their hands are tied. Send out wrong shipments to people, so as you can imagine that waiting to get a good deal on a sample sale. And then finding out that the item was incorrect and you'll never get that item again because they don't keep it in stock. They also took forever to send a UPS guy to pick up their incorrect package. Refused to let me drop it off at the UPS facility myself for my convenience. And then is taking their sweet old time to credit my account. So the charge for an incorrect EXPENSIVE handbag is just sitting on my account being charged finance charges until their incompetent warehouse employees feel like entering in the information. I'm sorry but this is not how you treat someone you refer to as an elite customer. Your service sucks. And your policies suck.

Has not generally been my experience at all with them. I ordered 4 bags from them-and even when they sent the wrong item, there was no problem returning it. Make sure you ask for a manager and make sure you mentioned that you belong to this forum-they do not want negative publicity here at all.

I haven't been impressed with them either; in addition to being extremely slow in sending out shipments, they weren't able to help me when I needed assistance. In all fairness, I was also to blame - I ordered a pair of shoes that were clearly marked "Final Sale" but I felt comfortable making the order as I knew the brand (I have 3 other pairs) and the size I would need. The shoes came and, although were marked the correct size, I couldn't get me feet into them they were that small! I called CS and requested a credit voucher for future use given the situation to which they responded absolutely not. I accepted that, like I said I knew it was a final sale. However, the lady got extremely rude and irritated when I asked her if my situation was common and if they occasionally received and sold "irregular" or mislabeled items...I didn't mean to offend, I just wanted to know for future reference.

All ends well...I called the actual manufacturer and they are taking the shoes back and will exchange them for whatever I want! They certainly will keep my business, it just won't come from Ruelala.

Your post reminds me exactly of what happened to me. I bought three pairs of pants during the Antik Denim sale. Two were those gorgeous capris with a fish print on the back. Exact same style, just different colors.
One was obviously smaller than the other, but both were marked 29. WTF?! I e-mailed them explaining the situation, and basically got an "You're SOL if you don't want to return them. Oh, and by the way, we don't have additional stock so you can't exchange. Sorry."
Ever since then I've been very reluctant to shop at RueLaLa, beyond the fact that their servers just can't take heavy traffic... But that's another story for another time. :)
