Rolex owners: What do you have?

Ugh. Mad at myself. My AD called to tell me my watch was in but I called back too late and they had already sold it.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, this is how some of the ADs operate. I know there are some ADs who hold a watch for clients for days, but that has never been my experience. I have a lovely AD and got 2 watches that matched my specs, but I had to jump in my car immediately to go and get them (and I missed a few others b/c I simply could not go at the time) because AD said they could only hold the watches for 30 minutes before putting out on display.

I’m so sorry but don’t worry they will get you another one. I got a call during a hurricane once, my dead end street was flooded waste high and was told I had an hour to get there, I said my life is worth more than a damn watch. They held it for me until the next day and apologized for giving me the ultimatum initially and gave me an umbrella.

My AD has held my watch purchases for at least a day for me. The first purchase was in 2021 and I was able to put a deposit on it. The newest one was placed as a special order (no deposit) and she said she would not sell it to anyone unless I wanted to pass on it after seeing it. It arrived 3 months after I requested it. I’m not a big client at all with only 2 Rolex purchases. Maybe just lucky to vibe with the right SA?

I think since most are not actual Rolex stores, but independent dealers, it is whatever each dealer’s policy is and they can vary greatly. Not really up to the individual SA, maybe? When I went to pick up my 2nd watch, I didn’t have my credit card and had to drive back home when I was over halfway to the AD. That is, I pulled over and called the SA and it was confirmed that I had to go get my actual plastic card b/c this dealer wasn’t equipped for ApplePay. I am sure others are. And they absolutely did not take deposits as that was my first question before having to rush over.

To stay on topic, the first Rolex I rushed over to get….

Thanks for sharing. My other AD would text me so I always would see a text over voicemail. Lesson learned. I guess it wasn’t meant for me right now.

I just got this today - a vintage DJ 36 with Buckley dial, engine turned bezel. So excited! Been looking for awhile for one in good condition since the blue face is relatively rare. Gotta go get it sized but this is my 2nd non sport Rolex and I love it. (I don’t usually wear it with jewelry as I don’t want scratches but I do love how it looks!)

Lovely! I am doing the same.
I'm not commenting on you going up to a 36 or anything but a few months ago I was talking to a woman that was wearing either a 28 or 31 TT datejust and I could tell it was an old watch but a loved one.

It just looked so right, it looked like just a well-worn, loved watch and at that moment I said "damn, I wish my 36 was whatever size hers is", it looked just so old school. But of course I'm not going to change my 36, I love it and have no problem telling the time with it being larger. And I do need to be able to see the time, the heck with digging out my phone for that.

Last month, I put my name down for a datejust 28 rose gold chocolate diamond dial. Two days ago, I went to the boutique to have my husband’s Rolex serviced and added another color (aubergine) to my wishlist. Then the AD showed me an exhibition piece, a rose gold 28 with olive green dial. I didn’t know I wanted it until I saw it, so I added that to my wishlist as well. The next day (yesterday), they called and offered me the watch. Perfect timing as I was back at the mall that moment, so I picked it up an hour after they called. :)

Wow never seen a green face before! Love the combination with the rose gold!
Beautiful watch!
