Rogue discontinued?

I know the Rogue sold well, and I also know that other styles like the Borough and Phoebe (and other styles) were top sellers as well as the Edie. Coach simply stops making some bags for some reason although it's not necessarily based on sales. I have no idea what their criteria is, and from what I've read on this forum, no one else does either. Of course, I could be wrong.

It is definitely a mystery. Even the sales associates at the outlets do not understand why they are sent a bag and then are not allowed to sell it

Louis Vuitton has also been churning out new bags every season and discontinuing popular models. I would guess they want to stay "fresh," but in the process, they turn off their long-time collectors. The only difference is LV never has sales.

I wonder if they discontinue a style because sales have declined. Except for the Coach lovers and buyers on this forum, I wonder how others feel about spending so much on a Coach bag. While I think the bag is beautiful, I have never purchased one because of the price point. I have, however, purchased many Coach bags in my lifetime. It's the same way I feel about them bringing back the Willis at $500. Even though I understand that costs have increased to produce it, I would much rather have the original version. As for designer brands and their classics in comparison, people will continue to buy the Speedy even when the price continues to go up. I would imagine that if Coach produced a bag that would sell well no matter what the price, they would keep it around.
despite the rogue is made by coach, the bag has no signs nor labels to scream the brand, you will only find "coach" letters on hardware which is tiny enough that only yourself can see it.
I don't see any reason of not willing to spend a few hundreds dollars on a well made leather bag, but rather to spend thousand on a coated canvas bag with untreated leather handle which ages bad over time.when rogue goes on sale it's only $400, at that price in LV, you can not even buy a mini pochette. The only reason of keeping consumer choosing more LV mini pochette over Coach Rogue is simply the marketing, the illusion and the exclusivity that the brand created to make ppl feel "rich".
When there were no internet, no global media, leather wear supposed to be sold according to the quality, the efforts on making them, but now, not any more, it's simply branding strategy. consumers become victims of the brand marketing.

My guess is just to keep the line moving and keep it fresh. If they were to keep one or two styles that would be thing, but to just keep many of the styles ongoing would mean the line never changes or moves along. As much as I like a lot of the older styles, I can't imagine Coach without many of the other styles that have come along over time. For me it would be kind of like getting bored with your own handbag collection--some you will always love, and others you change your mind on over time, or just need a change.

No way the rogue makes money for coach. If it did, they wouldn't be ditching it. How many times have you seen someone carrying it IRL? I see LV everywhere and I see all kinds of coach bags everywhere but not the high end coach stuff or the rogue.

With the Edie, maybe most everyone who would buy the Edie already did and that bag no longer makes money for coach. I definitely have seen the Edie everywhere for a long time.

Backpacks and cross bodies are the most popular types of bags - maybe that has impacted both models.

I did state that I have purchased many Coach bags over the years. I do love the brand. The point was made earlier that Coach wanted to be a designer label. This will never happen as long as they continue to have sales and outlets. It is only annoying to me to buy their higher-end bags when you know that they're going to 50% off in a couple of months. I do like Louis Vuitton, but I do not buy it because I am a victim of marketing or want to feel "rich," LOL. My comparison here was that Louis Vuitton is also making a lot of new styles while discontinuing more popular ones - not why one should by one over the other :)

I think the way of the world these days is less quality and more quantity. Rogue quality has diminished to the point I wouldn't consider buying the more recent ones. Value is a personal perspective. I'm happy with the ones I have but wouldn't be buying more if they kept making them with the lower quality.

That's my concern with the MTO - I would like one but I want 1st or 2nd generation quality for the price.

All of mine are 2nds but the quality is amazing.

I don't think we'll see the same level of high end bags from coach because most coach buyers are value / bargain shoppers. They have the middle market and I don't think the experiment into higher quality paid off for the company.

Agree. Coach made it's mark with a minimalist look, high quality leather, and superb craftsmanship. I would love to see them make these bags more regularly rather than limited editions. I think when logomania is finally over, consumers will want this look, and Coach could find its way back again.

I wonder what the point was, then, of releasing those beautiful exotic Rogues recently, when they were going to discontinue the model anyway... I would have thought it was to pique interest in the style again, but why bother now?
My theory was they were getting rid of materials from the MTO supply, but supposedly they are keeping those.

Maybe not, but they were in financial trouble only offering that. Michael Kors among others (e.g., Tory Burch, etc.) was hurting them, and they would be open to the same from any new brand at that price point.

That being said the Rogues are a tough price point, because they are high for contemporary buyers, but luxury buyers aren't comfortable with a brand that has all those sales and made for outlet bags.
