I have 4 different Rogues, black 36 whipstitch handles, Ivy, Washed Red, and Dusty Rose. I would say they all have slightly different leather. My Ivy has one side that is a little flatter pebble and sort of dryer like you mention with your Ruby. I would see if you could exchange your Ruby, I have a feeling you can get a more pebbly version. Its sold out. Unsure how I could exchange. Its perfect otherwise. I may take it to my local store & have them condition while I get some things monogrammed & go from there. That said, I still think quality is less or more, say, hit or miss, lately. Or, maybe I have unreasonable expectations!
So @Teagaggle does it bother you enough that you will return it? I only have the navy/oxblood MTO 25 and the grey rivet ones until receiving the sequin one a couple days ago to compare. I do love that red color though. Mine will be here on Thurs.
I noticed the same thing about the leather quality when I went into the store recently looking to buy another Rogue. I decided against it.

Oh that is too bad it is sold out! Unfortunately conditioning didn’t help much on the “dry side” of my Ivy. The other side is great so I just consider that the front side. It was my first rogue so I didn’t know what to expect. I absolutely love it though so at least there’s that lol
I am sad that new Rogues don’t have the clochette hang tag! One of my fav details on Rogues. I’d like to add another rogue to my collection and it will probably be one that’s already released so it’s not missing this detail.
I hope you find a good solution for Ruby! I don’t understand why they’re cutting corners on one of their iconic bags. Sad [emoji22]
I kind of wonder if it is going to become like the Swaggers. They definitely got pretty iffy by the end. So many of them looked cheap and didn't have much effort put into them. It would be a shame if they did that to the Rogues, but it seems now like they are becoming a dime a dozen and it has definitely reduced their value I feel. I am glad I have the two I have, but I am not buying more.
It seems like they’re not releasing as many colors for Rogues. I don’t know if that’s just my perception or not, and it seems like they’re trying to push the Dreamer as THE bag. But ... quit trying to make fetch happen, it’s not gonna happen! [emoji23]
On the fence. I'm gonna ponder it for a couple days & see. I don't have a true red bag & I do love the color.
I agree with Syren - Dreamer is clearly their new "it" bag. It just doesn't appeal to me.
I ordered the metallic large dreamer from Belk and didn't like it at all. I like my Rogue much better.
It doesn't to me either and I thought the quality compared to my newer Rogues was not as good. I don't like the short handles on the Dreamer. The handles on the Rogue are a step above. I too want a red bag so we'll see when it gets here.
I’m not sure, good question. I do like the C link straps though but I don’t know if they are now on all the new Rogues. I’ll have to look closer [emoji1]
Same the handles bugged me! Not that they were short, but because they were soft leather. I dunno. Is that a thing now?
Having no structure in the handle seems "lesser" to me. But I don't know if that's a valid thought.
I actually do like the Dreamer though, other than the handles. It borrows a lot of elements from the Rogue: the little flaps at the ends of the zippers, the strip of leather under the feet. I wonder if the initial 1941 release was actually a better quality than the current version though?
