if you could i would get the 18 ct but in single stones. if that is not an option the 10 ct it is a better buy

plus those necklaces like the "bigger" one made to look like a riviera but are pavé emulating a riviere are not my taste

I prefer the look of the 10 carat necklace. It's more elegant. Also, not at all impressed with tiny stones clustered to look bigger.

I didn't get before now that the 18 carat necklace isn't big stones, that it consists of only small small stones clustered together to look like big ones. (must have been a language barrier thing)

With that information at hand I think I might have gone for the 10 carat instead. Can you get a necklace like that with better clarity stones?

I prefer the 10 ct. Individual diamonds have more value then clusters of diamonds to form the look of an individual diamond. I also think that the 18 ct doesn't have the elegance of the 10 ct. S1 clarity or even S2 is what I would get for small stones, you don't need anything more in smaller stones like a necklace or bracelet as you would want in a solitare as long as the color is good imo

The 10 carat. I have never liked cluster diamond settings, as they depend on illusion for the appearance of size but can end up cheapening the look. Go with the 10 carat -- it's timeless and classic!

Hi everyone. This is my first thread :woot::woot: I feel very excited about that! Ok. I need some help please. I'm getting a deal on a diamond riviera necklace that's on sale for a week only and I want to know if it really is a deal. It's 17 inches, 7 carat diamonds total, clarity SI1-2, color H-I. I love the necklace but not sure if it's that good a deal. I'm getting it for US$9,000 and it's 14kt white gold. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to the world of diamonds and never spent that much on a piece before. It's to be a graduation gift after a really hard couple of years so I want to get something special. Please let me know what you think. I felt really special with the necklace on but don't want to feel afterwards that I was taken advantage of. Thanks in advance.

I also want to say this forum has been such a wonderful pick me up on days when I felt very down. My dad died in December and I would often come here to look at beautiful jewelry to take my mind of things. Thank you.
