Riviera / Tennis Necklace

The size you go for is definitely going to come down to how much you want to wear it and the sorts of occasions you'll have to use it - it sounds like it probably won't be an 'every day' necklace.

I agree that you should try some tennis bracelets against your neck to get an idea of how various size stones will look on you. And I think prong setting will be more glam than a bezel setting, which will probably be a bit more casual.

Have fun designing it! Make sure you post pics after the wedding!!

Funny, i just got one last week. It's very simple, which is my taste.
13.62 carats , and each stone is the same size, not graduated. It's on the long side, 18", which is just what I wanted. And I've worn it every day since I got it!

I came across your thread again, and I just had to say one more thing. My absolute favorite necklace is an Opera length diamond tennis necklace, not graduated, that has hidden clasps to separate it into two individual 16" strands. The nice thing is, you can separate it, and wear one strand on a more "everyday" basis, and then connect it and either double wrap it or wear it as a single long strand.

If I was in the market for a diamond necklace, THIS would be the winner.

Here's a picture of it double wrapped. (Again, sadly not mine, just borrowed).
Good luck on your search, and be sure to come back and post pics of whatever you end up. PS. I think it was about 80 carats total weight and 32 inches total in this picture. But I would also love it with smaller stones too.

I have seen the double length tennis necklace IRL, and it really is the only piece of jewelry I've seen on someone else that I have coveted!

To answer the question on my necklace, how big is each stone - they are small, but G color and quite sparkly. The necklace is 13.62 carats, and there are 135 diamonds, so each stone is only .1carat. It's the overall effect that is beautiful, and of course the quality of the stones. They are round stones each in a four prong setting.
I like it better than the graduated style because it can be worn everyday and does not look formal. I have a South Sea pearl in a diamond setting that I put on it for dress up. I will try to take a pic later.:smile1:

^^ interesting!!

yeah i don't want a long one, i want a shorter one but not too short kwim? I probably wouldnt wear it every single day, just because im in a smaller town for law school and dont think my peers would take well to a diamond necklace lol....they freak out about my bags! imagine if i started wearing that every day lol!

the one my brother was telling me about (NOT the graduated one, the one like you guys have with each stone being the same size) i think each diamond was like .25, but i thought that was too small...but i guess when you put a lot of small diamonds together they make the necklace pop lol!

i like the four prong setting and i know my brother he will not go under vs1 and g...the necklaces hes found have all been in the f/g and vvs1/2 range...i personally would not mind an h if i can have more diamonds lol, but i dont think i would ever go under an I, for anything (sans costume jewlery!)

and def take a pic of your sout sea pearls!! lol you sound like my moms dream child haha, she keeps telling me i need to get a longer and nice pearls blah blah blah...and im like um can i get the fun pearls from tiffanys?? with a toggle! yeahhh! lol because i figure that way i can actually wear them!! instead of just look at them in the bank! please never meet my mom or she will trade me in for u! lol

I would definitely love to see a pic of that beauty!

Okay, here are pics. Does anyone know the secret to taking good pics of jewelry?

The last is a pic of my emerald cut diamond studs. They are F-IF, 2 carats each, and I adore them.

Hi luvednotspoiled!

My advice would be somewhere from 10-15ctw. That way you get the impact you want, without going overbored!

Off topic, but I absolutely LOVE your e-ring! Have you decided on a wedding band yet? Do you have pics?
Thanks & good luck :)

Holy crap PorscheGirl...your jewerly is TDF!!! Those earrings look like ice!

THANKS...we are still deciding on the wedding band, but im pretty sure im going to get a an eternity band of fancy pink diamonds :) i thought it would complement the ribbon ring well and add a little pizzazzzz....BUT i might do canary diamonds instead because i love those to!!

blahhhhh i dont know...but im pretty sure i want something colored, so i doubt it will be from tiffanys :(

Interesting choice to do colored diamonds!
I don't know what your budget is, but maybe you can get one canary & one pink band & use them to flank your e-ring....or wear one at a time, or stack the 2 together when you don't want to wear your e-ring!

Of course, Tiffany's makes the matching platinum bead-set diamond band if you want it to match exactly!

I also think that prong setting makes a diamond necklace look a little more fancy and special occasion, but one good thing about bezel set is that it can give the illusion of a larger diamond. Here is my avatar pic and another pic (click to see it larger) that I have of my diamond necklace. It's bezel set in white gold and is about 14 CTW and about 1/3 ct each stone (all the same size not graduated).
